It’s now painfully obvious that the President Reagan imposed, police administered, taxpayer funded DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program not only didn’t work but in some cases actually increased drug use, based on a review of dozens of studies going back to 1991.  

2017 saw a steep decline in the number of drug crime exonerations (people wrongfully convicted of drug crimes and sent to prison, then found to be innocent afterwards).

Gummy Bears are being used to turn your children into literal zombies.  They’re being laced with THC, Melatonin (which is legal in the U.S. but illegal in many other countries) and deadly Flakka.

Alabama: Eufaula Police and state Department of Corrections now conducting random drug searches of Eufaula City Schools.

Alaska: Anchorage Police reported that an addict tried to buy drugs from a dealer who apparently decided to rob the addict of his cash. Also, Anchorage Police reported three separate shootings during one weekend leaving one man dead, three people wounded, believed to be in connection to illegal drugs.  In Sitka, a couple had their children kidnapped, and then the husband was pistol whipped, the wife shot in both legs by what police are calling drug gang “enforcers” from California and New Mexico: “Their sole purpose here, in our town of Sitka, based on what I’m gathering during the course of this investigation, is that they’ve come here to create hate and discontent, and to intimidate local people who live here, and to work as the muscle behind the drug trade.”-Lieutenant Lance Ewers, Sitka Police

Arizona: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (aka Border Patrol) captured 135 pounds (61 kilograms) of ganja, and arrested two teenagers in Nogales.  At the San Luis crossing, a U.S. citizen was captured with more than eight pounds (3.6 kilograms) of meth strapped to his body. Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office captured a Texas resident who was driving a car filled with nearly 50 pounds of cocaine and more than 27 pounds of marijuana.

Arkansas: A now former Jacksonville cop is facing charges of stealing drugs from police evidence lockers and illegal drug possession, he claims it was because of back-pain caused by a work injury.  U.S. DEA and FBI arrested ten people in Benton and Washington counties, accused of dealing heroin, cocaine and meth. In Little Rock, a drug dealer was attacked by prospective buyers, he told police they put a bag over his head and beat him with a shotgun.

KTAL: Hempstead and Nevada Counties crack down on illegal drugs

California: Visalia cops arrested three people; a man and a woman with criminal records  were in possession of illegal guns (so much for California’s gun bans) and methamphetamine (a third suspect was given a simple ticket for suspicion of possession of drugs), in a separate case the third arrest involved a man who broke probation and is accused of selling meth.  In Santa Rosa, a man with a criminal history was arrested for illegal possession of a pistol, narcotics and meth.

NEW WAR ON DRUGS: 114 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN SAN DIEGO!

Colorado: Parker Police personnel hospitalized after exposure to what was thought to be fentanyl, but turned out it was cocaine and meth.

The Denver Post: Colorado cited this drug rehab center operator 50 times in 3 years and it’s still in business.

Connecticut: In Wallingford a woman crashed her vehicle, police found 570 bags of heroin in the vehicle.

Delaware: State police found 3-thousand-127 bags of heroin in a house, two people arrested and their money confiscated by the cops. 

Florida: Sarasota police arrested a man after he attacked them by punching, kicking and biting them, he was high on spice (synthetic marijuana).

Fox News: Florida’s 2016 ‘Officer of the Year‘ arrested after feces, guns, drugs allegedly found in his ‘disgusting’ home

Hawaii: A Hawaii Police Department cop (now on leave without pay) suspected of stealing cocaine and hashish from the evidence room.  The investigation began in 2017, the Hawaii County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney refused to handle the case due to “conflicts of interest”.  Kauai Police arrested a man and woman for possession of meth and marijuana.

Idaho: NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard), once again snobby residents of Pocatello are shitting themselves over a proposed (and much needed) drug rehab center. This isn’t the first time. As usual the reasons given against a drug rehab center are property values and public safety.   Local news media reported that the nearest drug rehab is a several hours drive, on the west side of the state in Boise.  Speaking of drug crimes and Pocatello, over a three days period Pocatello cops arrested several people for possession of meth, heroine and prescription painkillers (that weren’t prescribed to the individual).  The arrests were the result of police responding to ‘disturbances’, traffic hazards and even a car crash.   Also, a passenger in a car was arrested as a result of a warrant, Pocatello police say when they went through his backpack they found meth, heroin and a scale. Still in Pocatello, a man pled guilty to distributing opioids which resulted in death, he’ll be sentenced in July, and for those snobberies in Pocatello rallying against a drug rehab center the federal judge handling the case stated “Our nation is in the midst of an opioid epidemic and Idaho is not immune from it.”  In the city of Idaho Falls, three homes targeted for drug busts, eight people arrested along with their stash of 30 pounds of ganja, guns, cars, and $47-thousand USD in cash (of course law enforcers get to keep assets for resale, but not for long, see below).  Staying in Idaho Falls, a missing iPhone resulted in a marijuana bust, police say the owner of the iPhone was able to track it to a home and when police entered they found two adults allegedly with more than a pound (more than half a kilo) of ganja.  Also, a man wanted on six warrants was captured after a high-speed chase, one of the charges is possession of drug ‘paraphernalia’.  In another case, police say a suspect was on drugs when he charged and pepper sprayed a cop before being shot.  Still in Idaho Falls, to show you how addicted Idahoans are to prescription opioids, local news media freaked out about a national shortage of the doctor issued killer and went running to Eastern Idaho Medical Center to find out if there was any opioids available, an official explained “There is a nationwide shortage of injectable opioid medication…….The pills are available but the IV form is not.”  (to find out why there’s a shortage of injectable opioids read MARIA: MOTHER EARTH SAYS ‘NO MORE DRUGS FOR YOU, HUMANS!’) An alleged drug smuggler couldn’t handle the snowy roads in Fremont County, and crashed his car.  Sheriff’s deputies found more than ten pounds of marijuana and methamphetamine in the car.   Idaho hiding execution data as University of Idaho professor is suing the state Department of Correction for refusing to make public (by law) its use of execution drugs.  An Idaho judge ruled that murder suspects can be forced to take drugs against their will in an apparent attempt to avoid the suspects claiming they’re mentally unstable, after another judge previously ruled the suspect mentally incompetent.  The state Supreme Court threw out the conviction of a woman accused of possession of meth, because it was revealed the prosecutors never proved the ‘substance’ found with the woman was indeed meth!   Boise police say a man they arrested for being a ‘peeping tom’ also had meth. Some state lawmakers want to ease up on Idaho’s tough illegal drug laws.

Illinois:  Porch Pirate Search Warrant Turns Up Accused Meth Dealer.  A family is suing the pharmaceutical industry for their child being born addicted to opioids, yet they also admitted the mom was addicted to illegal heroin.   Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 164 Illinois construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015!  In Decatur, police claim a drug bust (that happened almost a year ago) led to the arrest of a drug dealer who turned out to be ‘out on bond’ from a recent illegal use of a gun charge.

Indiana:  Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 83 Indiana construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015!  Zombies are for real, and they’re being created with KD (marijuana, tobacco, or spice sprayed with insecticide): “Their movements are slow and lethargic, a lot of drooling and a loss of function. We find them with their clothes off, eating the grass, pulling dirt out of the ground and trying to put it in their mouth….  We find people passed out with it still in their hand. That is how fast it has an effect on them…… for some reason they are willing to do because we get the same people using over and over again…..We send them off to the hospital to get checked out and within two hours they may be back out there on the street doing it again. We have had the same person multiple times in one day.”-Captain Chris Major, Indianapolis Fire Department

Iowa:  Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 32 Iowa construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015!  In Iowa City, a man was stopped for driving too fast, police say his car was loaded with marijuana, cannabis oil, marijuana edibles, marijuana wax, ‘suspected’ meth, prescription drugs and all the equipment used in selling it.  In Council Bluffs, police arrest mother who would do drugs, threaten children with knives.

Kansas:  Apparently Geary County Sheriff’s personnel and Junction City cops have been pulling over drivers for the sole purpose of accusing them of running drugs.

KWCH: 43 people arrested in Ford County drug bust

Kentucky: Trussville police arrested a man and woman for trafficking methamphetamine, pills and marijuana.  State police say drugs caused the death of a woman found behind the Swan Pond Baptist Church. In Graves County, complaints led to the arrest of two parents, the police bust revealed large amounts of synthetic drugs and Hydrocodone.   State Police crime lab shows the number of samples testing positive for meth more than doubled from 2015 to 2017.  In Richmond, police found a man barely dressed, standing in the street armed with knives and yelling. After being detained police found Suboxone and what looked like meth.  The man claimed he thought what he had was aspirin, and cocaine that he claimed he found in a trash can.

Louisiana: From March 21 to 24, across the state 20 people were arrested/charged with some type of drug crime.  In Baton Rouge, police accuse a 49 years old man of killing his 76 years old girlfriend after he smoked synthetic marijuana (mojo).  He claims god spoke to him and told him to kill her.  In March, a Vietnamese-American pled guilty in federal court to trafficking more than 1-thousand kilos (2,205 pounds) of marijuana.  He and his girlfriend were arrested last year after police intercepted a shipment coming from California.

Maine: Lewiston police arrested an immigrant in possession of crack cocaine and $1-thousand-4-hundred USD in cash.

Maryland:  A mom spending 30 years in prison for the 2015 death of her baby, due to her heroin addiction, the father spending 15 years for failing to seek medical help for the child.  An autopsy showed the child was starved, then beaten to death.  Naval Support Activity Bethesda (NSAB) Interfaith Center is set to start hosting a weekly Alcoholics Anonymous group, in an attempt to stop skyrocketing addictions.  NSAB Chaplain Christilene Whalen said “It was a decision that was easy to make.”

Massachusetts: In a case involving a ‘lifelong drug dealer’, the U.S. Attorneys Office says some people are being forced into drug dealing through indebtedness.  In Lawrence, a multi-agency investigation resulted in the arrest of a mother-son drug dealing team, accused of selling heroin, fentanyl and cocaine.  After numerous complaints of drug dealing and child sex crimes, a Scituate man was finally arrested.

Michigan:  Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 160 Michigan construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015!

Minnesota:  Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 54 Minnesota construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015!  National Guard Staff Sergeant Benjamin Kroll recognized by law enforcement for his part in the new war on drugs: “In 2016 I saw an exponential amount of overdoses taking place within Hennepin County and I wanted to see if those occurrences would have any links to anything that would happen in 2017. So in January of 2017 I started mapping everything that happened throughout the year in Hennepin County and as I did it, I started seeing patterns and trends in certain areas that got the attention of a lot of our partners.”

Mississippi:  Former Hattiesburg police officer sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for drugs.  A man with a criminal history was arrested for drug dealing after a massive investigation by multiple federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Local news media speculated that more arrests were pending due to the fact that just about every federal law enforcement agency, including Postal Inspectors, are involved in the investigation.  The Lumberton Police Chief suspended with pay after video was posted showing him supposedly smoking marijuana.

Missouri: Talk about deadly police incompetence resulting in a drug bust; three cops were responding to a 9-1-1 call, but were sent to the wrong address which turned out to be a meth house, one cop was killed, two wounded as a result.   Was the 9-1-1 dispatcher on drugs?

Montana: State crime lab chemist charged with stealing meth! He was turned in by his brother-in-law, prosecutors used the suspect’s Fitbit to prove he was using meth.  A now former Fort Peck Tribal cop confessed to stealing cash and drugs from the evidence room.  He was caught on security cam, police say his actions also compromised investigations into more than 24 other cases.  Missoula Police made four drug arrests in two hours, suspects with warrants and in possession of meth.

Montana Standard: The building housing Butte’s new taxpayer funded $42-thousand USD drugs incinerator caught fire 

Nebraska:  A stupid woman thought she could sell marijuana on social media, of course the police responded to her advertisement.  In Lincoln County two men circling neighborhoods with their car, and flashing the headlights, were stopped by police who accuse them of illegal possession of a pistol, and meth.  In Buffalo County, an adult male and a juvenile male were arrested and accused of illegal possession of a pistol, cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms and THC concentrate.

Nevada: In Las Vegas, a shoot-out at an apartment was apparently the result of a man looking to buy drugs.  The potential drug buyer was killed by the resident, who was wounded while apparently defending his family from the irate drug buyer.  A man arrested in Reno for selling meth, guns and stolen property is also wanted in California for murder.  A ‘house of ill repute’ had its license suspended in Elko, after a bartender was arrested for selling meth in the brothel.

New Hampshire: In Swanzey, a multi-agency drug bust went down, at least two people arrested, one of the suspects jumped out a window before being caught, police say they found heroin/fentanyl and crack-cocaine.  In Groveton, a woman is facing drug dealing charges after her alleged buyer ODed and died right in the suspected dealer’s home.   A now fired Manchester undercover police detective created a backlash as many drug crimes convictions/cases are now being reviewed and even dropped.  The undercover cop was involved in heroin/fentanyl investigations and now many of the cases he worked on are under suspicion.  The only public info about his firing is that he was fired for “misconduct”.  So far 35 pending cases have been dropped and 34 convictions are under review.  Perhaps the cop’s misconduct is that he was setting innocent people up for drug crimes. 

New Jersey:  31 charged in drug ring in 2 states, foreign country.  In the past four years a pro-medical marijuana user has questioned law enforcers from at least 70 departments about the state medical marijuana law and found the majority of cops don’t even know about the law.  Little Egg Harbor police arrested six people; two arrested for possession of meth after a vehicle stop, the other four were arrested after a search of a house revealed heroin, MDMA, meth, prescription drugs and marijuana.

New Mexico: A stupid woman tried to get out of jail by telling police she had a doctor’s prescription for meth (methamphetamine).  You can have a prescription for amphetamine, but not illegal methamphetamine.  The state Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) now allowing cops to spy on family data in the CYFD system due to increased cases of child abuse  connected to drug use.  CYFD created a Law Enforcement Portal that cops can access anytime.

KRQE News 13: Kid gets caught hiding drugs for mom during traffic stop

New York: Police claim they’ve taken down the largest drug gang in Suffolk County; six people arrested, four illegal pistols captured, $362-thousand USD in cash, 3-thousand-250 grams of cocaine, 475 grams of heroin, 4-hundred grams of crack.  A New York City policewoman (NYPD) pled not guilty to using drugs, exclaiming “I do not do drugs.”  She claims she failed a drug test because of the chemicals used on her hair weave.  Another NYPD cop-woman accused of operating her own drug house and illegal gun selling in Bronx, she and her boyfriend were busted by state and federal cops who found heroin, cash and illegal guns.  DEA says the arrest of the NYPD cop was in connection to a larger drug/gun running gang that extends from New York to Mexico.

North Carolina:  Drexel Elementary locked down during drug bust near the school, seven people arrested for trafficking meth.  In Carter County, 15 people arrested, 63 people indicted as a result of a multi-agency/multi-state investigation. Police captured heroin, meth, Suboxone, cash and even a Harley Davidson.   A stupid Whiteville woman got caught trying to sell drugs during her DWI trial, during a courtroom break she went out to the parking lot and sold Suboxone to an undercover cop!   For proof government is the source of drugs, the state Attorney General announced a ‘take back’ event called Safe Kids NC Operation Medicine Drop.  You can only ‘take back’ something if you are the original source/owner of that something.  

North Dakota: In Fargo, some burglars robbed a drug house and even though they left a trail of marijuana baggies (apparently to where their car was parked) police haven’t found them.  For proof police are the source of drugs, 5-hundred pounds of prescription drugs were collected in Grand Forks on “Take Back Day”.  You can only ‘take back’ something if you are the original source/owner of that something.  

West Fargo Pioneer: Word of ND’s immunity in overdose cases getting out slowly

Ohio:  Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 380 Ohio construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015!  Three Texans arrested for trying to mail $1-million USD worth of fentanyl, from Ohio to Texas.  After numerous complaints, Akron police arrested two men and captured fentanyl.  At a Vigo County rest area a man was arrested for possession of marijuana, meth, heroin, Suboxone and illegal possession of a pistol.  About seven months after a drug bust went down an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper is now fired after it was discovered he was laundering drug money.  According to the U.S. Attorney the state cop “…used his position as a law enforcement officer to provide…information, intervene in criminal cases…..provide…..ballistic vests and….alibi….” to protect drug dealers.  In mid-March a major fentanyl bust went down: “The fentanyl seized last night is enough to kill everyone in Toledo several times over.”-Justin Herdman, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio 

NEW WAR ON DRUGS: OHIO NEW OPIOID GROUND ZERO, BLAME BITCOIN?

Oklahoma:  Centerton Police arrested three people and say they captured drugs and illegal guns, during a traffic stop. After a ‘tip’ Oklahoma City Police arrested two women and a man, all accused of illegal possession of guns, and three pounds of meth, an abused (starved) dog was found in the garage.  A multi-state-federal investigation resulted in 12 people being indicted for drug crimes, mainly in Adair County, going back to 2014.    She was arrested last year and confessed to possession of heroin, methamphetamine and prescription drugs, but finally a now former Holmes Park Elementary School teacher had her teaching certification revoked.  Reports say she was caught when she posted on social media how she was using heroin and selling taxpayer school property to fund her habit. 

Oregon: Police across the state have stopped conducting field testing of suspected narcotics over fears of potentially fatal  fentanyl exposure.  After a shooting in Portland, and a tip from a prisoner, the owner of Cash or Collateral Entertainment is wanted for illegal possession of guns, $150-thousand USD in unexplained cash and more than 1-thousand prescription pills, all kept at numerous locations across the state.  It was also revealed that the owner of Cash or Collateral Entertainment had been under federal police surveillance since 2016. 

Pennsylvania: In Logan, police arrested a man who stole a gun and then used it as cash to buy an as yet to be identified drug (heroin?).  Police were alerted after the owner of the pistol reported it stolen, and then the strung-out druggie called emergency medical services for help and confessed he had stolen the pistol to buy drugs.  Reading police busted a drug gang that had racked up an estimated $20-million USD in drug sales in the past year.  Police had the gang under surveillance, but made their bust after overhearing plans by the gang leader to intentionally kill people. 15 gang bangers arrested: “They were getting ready, they were starting to roll and we stopped them before they got really moving. They had no thought, no qualms about committing murder or killing someone that was in their way.”-Reading Police Chief Andres Dominguez

NEW WAR ON DRUGS: PENNSYLVANIA MILITIA CRACKS DOWN ON PILLS!

Rhode Island: A doctor now serving 51 months in federal prison for accepting bribes from the pharmaceutical industry to push opioid drugs on unsuspecting patients. The doctor, and specific drugs companies, are now being sued by the victims.

South Carolina:  In Berkeley County 25 people arrested for drugs in just one day.  Police captured cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, alprazolam, ecstasy & suboxone strips, and two stolen cars and two stolen guns.  The Paid Family gang indicted for trafficking marijuana allegedly from U.S. Army personnel at Fort Lewis in Washington state! 

The Post and Courier: Fifth Circuit Solicitor Dan Johnson shifted $10,000 from his office’s drug seizure account to a credit card he used for travel and hotels in South America

South Dakota: The Sioux Falls Police Chief told the city council that methamphetamine and opioid use is fueling an increase in violent crime, and said marijuana was being used to ‘gateway’ people to potentially deadly meth.

U.S. News & World Report: Spike in Pine Ridge Reservation Homicides Tied to Meth

Tennessee: A fight at a South Knoxville pawn shop resulted in police raiding a house where they say they found a marijuana growing op, along with other illegal things like meth, counterfeit money, and guns (the guns being illegal because the suspect has a criminal history).  The fight at the pawn shop was the result of employees refusing to sell the suspect a gun.  In Nashville, 40 pounds of marijuana found in luggage on  an Alaska Airlines plane.

 

Texas: In Austin, a man stopped for driving intoxicated was arrested after cops found a stolen pistol, marijuana and meth in the car.  In College Station, a man was arrested and accused of selling LSD, MDMA, THC concentrate, marijuana and prescription drugs.  In Seguin, city police and the U.S. DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) busted 16 people for selling drugs, the city police chief said the drug-gang was providing “…large financial support for prison gangs, so the likelihood that they are related to the Mexican Mafia and/or other prison gangs is very strong.”  The American Enterprise Institute estimates that the opioid crisis is costing Texas taxpayers $706 USD per person!  A man videoed a Central Texas Adult Day Care bus driver smoking meth while driving the bus: “I was pissed, so I called the Round Rock police…!”   

Utah: When police went to a restaurant, in Price, to eat they discovered something else was on the menu; they observed people known to them as drug dealers working outside the establishment.  In fact, it became clear that a drug deal was going down right in front of the cops-on-break. One man was arrested in possession of heroin and meth, another man arrested in possession of meth. But wait, there’s more!  The cops were suspicious that this was the tip of the iceberg and search warrants for multi-counties were obtained and resulted in the capture of more drugs and the arrests of two more people.  In Saint George, a mom breastfed her baby after she took heroin, the baby stopped breathing, the baby was hospitalized, the arrested mom kept her stash in the baby’s diaper bag.  It turns out that the biggest drug trafficking bust in Utah’s history (so far), back in 2016, was the result of a gang out of British empire controlled Canada (THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND IS A DRUG DEALER, U.K. BANK REGULATOR SAYS SO!).  The 2016 drug bust in Utah resulted in five people in Canada arrested this month.  

Vermont: The health department says in 2017 there were 104 deadly drug overdoses; 93 of them involved a prescription opioid.  State Police came across a pregnant woman injecting heroin at the Springfield Park and Ride.  A now former Royalton Police officer who stole heroin from a police evidence locker for a woman he was dating, changed his not guilty plea to guilty. 

Virginia: After an eight month multi-state-federal investigation 44 people charged with cash/gun/drug crimes, in connection to heroin trafficking out of New York.  A now former Hampton Police officer, and Medal of Valor recipient, was arrested in Idaho in connection to drug gang operating in a Hampton fitness center. 

Washington: Moses Lake Police Department found an ounce of methamphetamine, half an ounce of heroin, and over 100 prescription pills in a house.  Of course they took (by law) two vehicles and $3-thousand USD in cash for themselves.  Port Gamble S’Klallam, Suquamish and the Jamestown S’Klallam tribes suing the pharmaceutical industry (including Israel’s Teva) saying they were overrun with opioids.

Washington DC:  The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to hire 100-thousand more people for the sole purpose of inspecting packages for illegal drugs.   A Veterans Affairs study reported that opioids are no better than acetaminophen (tylenol) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDS, aka ibuprofen, aleve, etc) drugs at treating pain! In fact, after a year on opioids patients reported an increase in pain!

West Virginia: After a two year multi-state investigation police searched more than a dozen properties, seizing 12.5 kilos of cocaine, 11 illegal guns, more than $100,000 in cash, and nine suspects indicted; five of them Mexican citizens, two citizens of El Salvador.

Wisconsin:  U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports a 109% increase in opioid overdose cases pouring into Wisconsin hospitals, from July 2016 to September 2017.  More than 8-hundred people died from opioid overdose in 2016.  Midwest Economic Policy Institutes says 92 Wisconsin construction workers died from opioid overdoses in 2015, costing the state’s economy $524-million USD!  In La Crosse, three people arrested and accused of selling cocaine, heroine, marijuana, and meth.  One of the men arrested has drugs-crime records back to 2006.  An Eau Claire woman is facing charges of forcing two children to have sex with adults in exchange for drugs. The ‘trafficked’ children were also shot-up with meth hundreds of times, allegedly this crime went on for nine years before being discovered!

Wyoming: In Jackson a woman was found face down at table in a bar.  It turns out she was the victim of the Date Rape Drug benzodiazepine and opiates.  Police say she was lucky that another bar customer got suspicious and called for help.  In sparsely populated Teton County, Saint john’s Medical Center reported three opioid deaths, so far: “As a practicing physician here, I’d never seen heroin here until about two years ago. I was so shocked that I even sent a note to the county attorney and law enforcement because I was really stunned to see it.”-Brent Blue, county coroner

Idaho’s Army National Guard and the state Military Division’s Public Safety Communications and Information Technology Division are creating a ‘long term’ microwave radio system across six regions within The Gem State.

“The current network has been out there for a while and is at a point in its lifecycle where it needs to be replaced. We are providing engineering and analysis for what should be replaced and how we can improve data consistency and reliability for that infrastructure to remain working at an optimal level.”-Ben Call, communications and InfoTech services branch chief

The new system is meant to provided faster service and protect state government communications from cyber attacks. It will serve the Idaho Army National Guard, Idaho State Police, Idaho Fish and Game, and the Idaho State Courts System.  It should also be more secure during natural disasters because it does not use ‘public’ cell systems: “With our support they have equipment that comes in via the microwave network instead of the public network that would not be affected by an outage. So it is our hope and intent that our system would stay up and be available in an emergency even if the regular system dies.”-Ben Call

British empire United Kingdom based luxury clothier Charlotte Olympia now chapter 11 bankrupt busted in the United States, blaming an “unprecedented brick and mortar retail disruption” affecting its stores in California, Nevada and New York.  But don’t blame online sales because there is an Official Charlotte Olympia Online Store.

Germany based Deutsche Bank suddenly began eliminating hundreds of jobs globally, including jobs in the United States, as part of a plan to impose ‘cost discipline’ due to crashing revenues.

Arizona: In Phoenix, antique store/vendor rental space Zinnias shutdown.

 California: In Modesto, after 23 years Buy Right shutdown for its second and possibly final time, and for the second time it’s because a greedy landlord kicked them out, this time the owners of the popular thrift store did not say they were looking for a new location. Local Modesto news media reported a sudden increase in landlords jacking up rent.  Prudential-Jackson National Life Insurance laid off 161 people in El Segundo, admitting the layoff was planned back in August 2017!  Los Angeles based retailer of those dumb-ass looking wide leg jeans, JNCO Jeans, shutting down all nationwide ops when the inventory is gone (the company actually died several years ago, but some idiot tried rebooting it in 2017). In San Diego, after 125 years (surviving The Great Depression and numerous recessions) iconic Jessop Jewelers shutdown.  In San Francisco, after 28 years Costumes on Haight shutting down in March, the new manager blames increased operating costs.  Calexico JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.  WP Payroll Management issued a shutdown WARN for its Los Angeles location, 113 jobs gone by May!  The Ritz-Carlton issued a temporary shutdown WARN for its Truckee location, 236 jobs gone mid-April!  In Anaheim, Gateway One Lending and Finance eliminating 24 jobs by April.  In the City of Industry, Artistree laying off 104 people by April!  What automotive industry recovery? Car dealer Infiniti of Riverside issued a shutdown WARN, 25 jobs gone by the end of March.   What housing market recovery?  Apartment manager Irvine Company suddenly laid off 63 employees, and reclassified 17 positions according to news reports (their official WARN says 80 jobs gone), as part of its plan to refine “long-term apartment communities”.

Colorado:  Prudential-Jackson National Life Insurance shutting down its 20 years old tech center in Denver, 370 jobs gone! 

Florida:  In Tampa, Prudential-Jackson National Life Insurance eliminating 41 jobs mid-March.  In Saint Petersburg, Transamerica Life Insurance eliminating 465 jobs by mid-April!

Georgia: In Macon, after 40 years Chi-chester’s Gifts shutdown due to crashing sales.

Idaho: After 40 years the owners of the two Porter’s Crafts & Frames stores (in Rexburg and Idaho Falls) forced to retire due to health problems, they’re trying to get a friend from New Jersey to buy the Rexburg property, the stores are shutting down when the inventory is gone.

Illinois: Lord & Taylor shutdown its clothing store in the Oakbrook Center, and is shutting down its store in Westfield Old Orchard Mall in April.  Sandburg Mall JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.  In Geneva, after ten years Antiques on State shutting down in April, due to crashing sales.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down six of its Carson’s stores and one Bergner’s, in total 4-hundred jobs gone by May!  In Normal, after 47 years Guitar World shutdown, the owner saying even music lessons have been affected by the internet: “We went from over 105 lessons when we came here nine years ago, to 30 or less. So I mean, the market is changing, the people who are doing this have changed. So it’s what you have to do with all online, God bless the internet.”-Jim Bland

Indiana: Walmart issued a shutdown WARN for its store in Rushville, 95 jobs gone by mid-April.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down five of its Carson’s stores, in total 306 jobs gone by the end of April!

Iowa: Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down two of its Younkers stores.  Too Big to Jail Goldman Sachs issued a shutdown WARN for its Cedar Rapids office, 39 jobs gone by May.  Also in Cedar Rapids, Transamerica Life Insurance eliminating 863 jobs by mid-April!   What housing market recovery?  In Des Moines, Nationwide-Mortgage eliminating 54 jobs by April.

Kentucky: Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down the Elder Beerman store in Paducah.  Also in Paducah, New York & Company Outlet shutdown.

Maryland:  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its store in Hagerstown.  In Baltimore, Transamerica Life Insurance eliminating 55 jobs by mid-April.

Massachusetts: Clothier Artwear shutting down in March, the owner stated “Retailers have been hit hard this year. I can’t predict what 2018 will bring and so I have decided that I cannot keep the store open any longer.”

Michigan:Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down the Elder Beerman store in Adrian, a Younkers in Marquette and a Carson’s in Benton Harbor (Bon-Ton did not indicate how many jobs lost in its official WARN).

Minnesota: Eagan based Sun Country Airlines suddenly eliminated 350 ground crew jobs by outsourcing them to a cheapo contractor, Sun Country workers had one week to beg the contractor to hire them (at less pay and probably no benefits, for the same work)!  Viking Plaza JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down the Herberger’s Clearance Center store in Maplewood, 20 jobs gone in April.  In West Duluth, after 35 years Video Vision shutdown.  Toys R Us issued a shutdown WARN for its store in Roseville, 30 jobs gone in April.

Missouri: Hampton Village Plaza JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.

Montana: In Billings, Big Bear Sports Center is now officially dead.  It’s been shutdown since November because a man drove his SUV into the store, then began trading gunshots with police.  Police used tear-gas, and water and gas lines in the store were damaged, the suspect was killed.  The store owners were hoping to repair the store but apparently it’s not going to happen.

New Hampshire: Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its store in Concord.

New Jersey: Hotel operator Wyndham Worldwide Operations eliminating 134 jobs in Parsippany, mid-April! Walmart shutting down its Route 22 Readington (Branchburg) store, 149 jobs gone by mid-April, due to “financial performance”!  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its store in Phillipsburg.  Garden State Plaza JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.  After more than 30 years the family owned gun shop known for supporting local charities, Sportsman’s Rendezvous, shutdown, the family is moving to Florida.   After 27 years, and three location changes, The Big Little Railroad Shop shutdown due to the sudden collapse of the sale of the store: “I had been working with someone for at least a year-and-a-half who was going to purchase the store. I’d work two days, he’d work three and vice versa, and all of the sudden on Memorial Day, he just walked out of here.”-Jen Lush, co-owner

New Mexico: Gertrude Zachary shutdown its antique store In Albuquerque, but the owners claim a new type of store will take its place.

New York: NYC based Barnes & Noble eliminating an undisclosed number of cashiers and digital product associates, due to crashing sales.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its stores in Massena, Watertown and Queensbury.  In Brooklyn, Horseman Antiques shutting down due to the building being sold-off for $18-million USD.  Toys R Us-Babies R Us issued shutdown WARNs for six stores, at least 285 jobs gone between mid-March and mid-April!  Sterling National Bank issued mass-layoff WARN for multiple locations, at least 140 jobs lost between April and Xmas!  California based GAP shutting down its Banana Republic corporate operations in NYC,  112 jobs lost due to consolidation ops back to California!

North Carolina: Charlotte based Japanese Toyota NASCAR driving BK Racing now chapter 11 bankrupt busted due to $8-million USD of debt. Charlotte based retailer Belk suddenly laid off 58 managers across the U.S.  In Durham, sexist female boutique Liberation Threads shutdown after a year, the owners saying “…as we move into 2018, there’s a sea change happening.” 

Ohio: Non-profit tenant advocate Cleveland Tenants Organization shutdown due to lack of funding.   In Greenville, after 25 years Club 7 Sports up for sale, the owners want to retire.  Knox Village Square JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.  In Columbus, after more than 40 years Romanoff’s Classic Tuxedos shutting down.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its Elder Beerman store in Defiance, 41 jobs gone.  In Cleveland Heights, after 27 years toy and joke store Big Fun shutting down when the inventory is gone, the owner bemoaned “I call Amazon our kryptonite…. they need to shop local.”

Oklahoma:  Washington Park Mall JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.

Oregon: Nordstrom shutting down its 37 years old store in the Salem Center Mall, 130 jobs gone by April!

Pennsylvania: In Narberth, after 105 years (surviving The Great Depression and several recessions) Ricklin’s Hardware shutdown so the owners can retire.   Janitorial service company Compass Group eliminating six jobs in April.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down eight of its stores!  Macy’s issued a shutdown WARN for its Homestead store, 94 jobs gone by mid-April.  Limerick Furniture and Mattress shutting down its store in the Fairgrounds Square Mall, due to increased competition and increased operating costs.  After 40 years, Dave Phillips Music & Sound shutdown its Allentown location blaming internet shopping.  In Exton, Transamerica Life Insurance outsourcing 192 jobs by mid-April!  Administrators claim in-house employees were offered jobs with the contractor at the same pay, having personally experienced outsourcing of some of my past jobs I find that hard to believe.

South Carolina: What housing market recovery?  Created out of the 2008 financial meltdown Movement Mortgage suddenly laid off 75 people, administrators blamed the sudden layoffs on ‘improvements’ to their lending process.

Texas: In Houston, after 16 years music venue Walter’s Downtown suddenly shutdown.

Utah: Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its Herberger’s store in Logan.

Vermont: Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its store in South Burlington.

Virginia: Clothier PacSun shutting down its store in the River Ridge Mall, in May.  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down its Elder Beerman store in Vienna.

Washington:Cascade Mall JCPenney shutting down by mid-May.

West Virginia: Shoe seller Finish Line shutting down its store in the Charleston Town Center.   Speaking of Charleston Town Center, it is now under control of a real estate group after the original owners defaulted on a $100-million USD loan.

Wisconsin: Prudential-Jackson National Life Insurance laid off an additional 23 employees in Appleton.   In Manitowoc, after 67 years LLoyd’s Photo & Digital shutdown, the owner lamenting “…our bread and butter was prints.”  Chapter 11 bankrupt Bon-Ton shutting down six of its Younkers stores, two Boston Stores and an Elder Beerman! In Mequon, after 27 years Xenia Gallery shutting down in March.

Wyoming: in Cheyenne, after 49 years City News and Pipe Shop shutdown, the owners say the crash in magazine and newspaper sales is a final sign that it’s time to retire.  In Casper, Seconds on First Street shutdown after 16 years of consignments.

God powerless to stop ‘his’ Adventist Health Bakersfield from eliminating 177 jobs by April!  Adventist Health White Memorial eliminating 160 Los Angeles jobs by April!  Novartis Pharmaceuticals suddenly laid off 29 people in San Carlos.  Pacific Alliance Medical Center finally revealed that it killed 731 Los Angeles jobs when it shutdown back in December!  Texas based Concentra issued a layoff WARN for its Valencia ops, 134 jobs gone by April!   Maker of plastic medical products Nypro issued a shutdown WARN for its factory in Porterville, 111 jobs gone by April!

Connecticut: New haven based Achillion Pharmaceuticals eliminating 18 jobs after partner Johnson & Johnson halted its support for developing a new Hep-C drug.  After almost non-stop layoffs since 2016, Bristol-Myers Squibb announced an additional 107 more layoffs by April, as part of a plan to halt operations in Wallingford!  Out of fear of lawsuits, Stamford based Purdue Pharma halted promotional ops to get doctors to push their opioid drugs.  Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics eliminating 198 jobs as part of its plan to halt ops in Brookfield by September!

Florida:  Pensacola Naval Hospital shifting to outpatient pediatric care only, starting in July.  Transitions Optical eliminating 34 Pinellas Park jobs mid-April.

Georgia: Federal government accusing HCA Healthcare owned Memorial University Medical Center of failing to comply with Medicare billing rules, at least 39 times, estimating that taxpayers overpaid the hospital by $1.4-million USD.   Marietta based WellStar Health System laid off 49 people, including seven executives.  Six hospitals suing Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for refusing to cover the costs of MRIs and CT scans.  Two nurses with Northeast Atlanta Health and Rehabilitation charged with killing a patient in 2014, while other nurses watched and laughed. Others were charged with covering up the death. Security camera video shows the nurses cutting off the air to a World War-2 veteran and other nurses laughing as he begged for his life! 

Idaho: The federal Health and Human Services Secretary met with Idaho administrators to discuss Idaho’s plan to offer health insurance that is not approved by ObamaCare-ACA, details of the meeting were not made public.

Illinois: Outcome Health suddenly laid off an additional 20 people (after eliminating 215 positions last year), possibly in connection with an investor fraud settlement. Naperville based Edward-Elmhurst Health slashing $35-million USD from its budget (on top of slashing $50-million last year), with layoffs in the works, due to a $92-million accounting error!  Chicago based Norwegian American Hospital threatening to shutdown its pediatric unit by the end of March, due to crashing demand for services (only nine patients in 2016 and zero in 2017).  News reports say other hospitals are considering similar shutdowns.  Israel based Teva issued a shutdown WARN for its ops in Gurnee, 101 jobs gone between now and the end of the year!

Indiana: Med Express Urgent Care in Terre Haute shutdown due to ‘business reasons’.  Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital shutting down its obstetrics unit, ten jobs affected by the end of March.  Medical device maker Cook Medical restructuring in response to the changing global healthcare market, mainly through consolidation of operations (which usually means job cuts).

Kentucky: Kindred Healthcare reported a $135-million USD loss in its fourth quarter of 2017.  Four executives of Louisville based Humana made more than $12-million USD combined by selling-off their own stock holdings in Humana.

Massachusetts: UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital shutting down its gastrointestinal unit, eight jobs affected. Morton Hospital shutting down its maternity ward in April.  Lemuel Shattuck Hospital shutting down, 7-hundred jobs affected by 2021!  Boston based drugs maker Intarcia suddenly laid off 60 people due to the FDA rejecting its latest drug.  Steward Health Care moving its HQ to Texas, affecting 1-hundred jobs in Boston!  Partners HealthCare off-shoring 1-hundred tech jobs, to India!   Also in Boston, Sanofi Genzyme laying off 130 people in an effort to reduce operating costs!  Lowell General Hospital laid off seven health info-tech employees.

Michigan: Employees of Borgess Medical Center warned of massive layoffs due to the hospital being “over budget”, despite hospital administrators boasting of building a new addition to the hospital, which will cost at least $35-million USD.  Mmmm, wonder why they’re over budget?  Texas owned Detroit Medical Center reducing meal options for patients and eliminating 3-hundred jobs saying “It’s part of a plan to be much more efficient…”  Sparrow Health System shutting down its Saint Lawrence emergency room in May.  Henry Ford Allegiance Health agreed to settled a federal lawsuit accusing it of colluding with other hospitals to intentionally limit advertising competition within their respective counties.  Memorial Healthcare facing a federal lawsuit after allegedly rejecting a nurses job application, because she refused to get a flu shot as part of her religious beliefs.

Minnesota: Shriners Hospitals for Children-Twin Cities “evaluating alternative options for inpatient care” including a total shutdown.  The Star Tribune reporting 341 ‘preventable’ medical errors in 2017, at least 12 people died and 103 injured due to increased incompetence in Minnesota hospitals.  In Fridley, DaVita Clinical Research eliminating 53 jobs by mid-April.

Missouri: Non-profit Western Missouri Medical Center suddenly eliminated 41 jobs saying “We have not been immune to the ever-growing challenges in the healthcare industry…”   A woman sentenced to five years probation for posing as a nurse instructor at Saint Alexius Hospital, it was shown she lied about her education and employment history, and stole a nursing license from a nurse in New Mexico.  Taxpayer funded Iron County Medical Center now chapter 9 bankrupt busted.  Administrators are also asking voters to approve a sales tax hike to increase funding of the hospital.

Montana: A now former CFO of Rocky Boy Health Clinic spending 12 months in prison for fraud.

Nebraska: Methodist Hospital halting home health and hospice services in March, affecting 40 jobs.

New Hampshire: LRGHealthcare shutting down its maternity ward by the end of May.  Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital shutting down its maternity ward, 12 jobs gone mid-July.

New Jersey:  Israel based Teva Pharmaceuticals suddenly laid off 46 people in Parsippany, as part of its plan to eliminate 18-thousand jobs globally.

New Mexico: University of New Mexico Hospital being sued by a former immigrant employee who says co-workers bullied her because of her accent.  The state health department is facing lawsuits claiming conflict of interest in how Medicaid contracts are awarded, such a lawsuit by Molina Healthcare has been thrown out of court, but other lawsuits are pending.

New York: Pfizer issued a shutdown WARN for its Rouses Point drugs factory, 82 jobs affected by March.  Cayuga Centers eliminating 120 jobs as it halts residential treatment ops, blaming ObamaCare-ACA for the loss of $2-million USD since July 2017!  On-demand tele-health company Teledoc reported a loss of $106.8-million, possibly in connection with its take-over of rival Best Doctors.  A U.S. District Judge found the now former drugs company CEO Martin Shkreli (the one who jacked-up prices outrageously) guilty of frauding investors and causing the companies he worked for to lose a combined total of $10.4-million.  Nassau University Medical Center spent two days eliminating $674-thousand worth of salaried and contracted jobs, in an effort to save $1.67-million for “mission critical” jobs.  Taxpayer funded Hunter College is suing one of its nurses after it discovered the nurse is living in the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing dorm, and has been for the past 40 years. Local news reports say that particular nurse isn’t the only one living in the college dorm as it’s apparently the result of a contract from a discontinued nursing program that dates back to the 1960s.

North Carolina: A doctor at Duke University School of Medicine sued saying the university engaged in hiring collusion with UNC School of Medicine.  The case could affect 5-thousand-649 faculty at both universities!  Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas HealthCare System) admitted it had reduced working hours for 90 employees since November 2017 and more labor cost cuts were in the planning, which is interesting because Atrium Health is still advertising that it is hiring.  Novant Health suddenly eliminated 23 jobs.  State investigators fined Strategic Behavioral Health Center $20-thousand for violating patient safety laws. The ‘behavioral’ center was mistreating patients so badly that dozens escaped, which alerted investigators.

Ohio:  New York Based Personal Touch Home Care halting ops in Ohio and eliminating at least 257 jobs by mid-April!   Memorial Health Systems suddenly laid off 15 people and shifted 1-hundred employees into new jobs, blaming it on an expected reduction in taxpayer funded Medicare spending.  Philips Medical Systems eliminating 65 jobs mid-April.  Cardinal Health eliminating 101 jobs mid-April!

Oklahoma: The state Department of Health interim commissioner and Cabinet Secretary of Finance, Administration and Information Technology resigned after being accused of domestic violence.

Pennsylvania:  A now former UPMC Health Plan director is spending two years in federal prison for stealing $846-thousand USD from UPMC, by creating ‘ghost workers’ on the payroll.

South Carolina: Regional Medical Center suddenly laid off an undisclosed number of people, an audit last month revealed the hospital lost $7-million USD, administrators warned of more layoffs saying “We are in very challenging times.”  Medical University of South Carolina revealed it fired 13 employees for espionage-ing patient records, in 2017.

Tennessee: Franklin based Community Health Systems reported a loss of $2-billion USD in their fourth quarter of 2017, despite selling-off hospitals!  More Community Health Systems owned hospitals will be sold-off in 2018.

Texas: Dallas based Tenet Healthcare reported a $230-million USD loss in its fourth quarter of 2017, despite $5-billion in revenues, despite killing 2-thousand jobs nationwide and despite taking advantage of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Utah: State legislators advanced a bill to the state Senate that would prohibit hospitals and health systems from testing a doctor’s competency!  20 volunteers at University of Utah Hospital are ensuring no patient dies alone, it’s part of a growing movement called No One Dies Alone.

Vermont: It was revealed that Brattleboro Memorial Hospital paid state and federal regulators $1.7-million USD to settle claims that it submitted false outpatient laboratory claims to Medicaid and Medicare.

Virginia: University of Virginia Health System ‘exposed’ data of more than 1-thousand-8-hundred patients over 17 months.

Washington: Skagit Regional Health revealed it had laid off 94 people and shutdown 36 vacant positions during the past seven months, due to $17-million USD in losses since 2016.

Washington DC: The former CMO of United Medical Center says he was fired for blowing the whistle on the hospital’s “malfeasance affecting patient health and safety” and “submission of fraudulent statements to Medicare and Medicaid.”  The Internal Revenue Service hitting employers with fines for violating ObamaCare-ACA employee insurance mandate.  Federal Health and Human Services new Conscience and Religious Freedom division received more than 3-hundred complaints since 18JAN2018.

Incomplete list of announced United States food supply shutdowns for the month of February, 2018: Many food suppliers/distributors are consolidating operations and killing jobs due to the collapsing grocery store and restaurant industries, as well as rising costs of food production, spread of disease and extreme weather.

While I don’t like most of the crazy stuff the folks at PETA do, they have compelling evidence that those ‘free range’ poultry products you buy at Walmart, Harris Teeter and Whole Foods are anything but:

Alabama: A female employee of Dothan’s Farm Service Agency charged with fraud, theft of government property, and using a false document, relating to crop insurance.  Pike Road Butcher Block suddenly shutdown due to “small town politics”, the landlord is the town of Pike Road.

Alaska: Hook Line and Sinker-Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse now chapter 11 bankrupt busted.  It’s blamed on a massive re-development project (gentrification) which left Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse with millions of dollars of debt.

California: In The Golden State that loves migrant workers “A Soledad farm labor contractor has been fined $168,082 in penalties for housing employees in unsanitary and dangerous conditions following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.” New York based Seneca Foods shutdown its factory in Modesto, 265 full-time jobs suddenly gone due to “competition from overseas”! DineEquity owned, Gelndale based, schizophrenic IHOP shutting down 40 restaurants in 2018, while at the same time claiming they will open even more restaurants. Cafe Napa Valley Traditions forced to shutdown after 24 years by a huge rent increase. San Francisco based coffee roaster Four Barrel began laying off employees due to crashing wholesale orders.   K and R Farms shutting down operations in Salinas, 235 jobs gone by April!  CKE Restaurant Holdings (aka Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Green Burrito and Red Burrito) eliminating 54 jobs in Anaheim, by mid-April. Freshly Picked issued a shutdown WARN for its Cypress location, 26 jobs gone in March.  After 25 years non-profit animal rescue op Farm Sanctuary-Orland Shelter shutdown, the owners got the hell outta The Golden State and took the 250+ animals to a new 39 hectares (96 acres) ranch in New York.  In San Luis Obispo, after three years popular Bowl’d shutting down because the owners say the profits just aren’t high enough to cover the rent.  In Fresno, Parsley Garden Cafe suddenly shutdown due to not being able to renew the lease.  Tyson Foods killing yet more jobs as it issues another WARN, this time 401 people in Otay Mesa out-o-work as the frozen food factory is shutdown!  Oregon based New Seasons Market suddenly shutdown its six months old grocery store in Sunnyvale saying “This location proved to be a challenge for several reasons”, 101 jobs gone! Connecticut based food service company Centerplate issued a mass layoff WARN, 759 Levi’s Stadium jobs in Santa Clara gone by mid-April!  TGI Friday’s issued a shutdown WARN for a restaurant in Brea, 57 jobs gone by mid-April.  In Modesto, the 25 years old Hometown Buffet was suddenly shutdown by a greedy landlord who canceled the lease.  After 60 years Menlo Park’s Oasis Beer Garden shutting down by March because of the greedy landlord: “After several months of effort, we were unable to negotiate a reasonable lease for our business, nor meet the requested terms of the building’s owner.”-facebook post

Colorado:  In Fort Collins, employee owned New Belgium Brewing suddenly laid off 28 employees (25 in Colorado, three in North Carolina).  It’s probably due to increasing competition as local news sources reported that in Denver alone four new breweries have opened in the past four months!

Connecticut: Iconic Woody’s hot dog joint shutdown after 41 years so the owners can take a vacation, before their next business venture.

Florida: Southeastern Grocers owned, BI-LO, Harveys, Winn-Dixie, and Fresco y Más threatening to shutdown 2-hundred grocery stores in an attempt to avoid bankruptcy, it could mean more than 18-thousand jobs lost! In Fort Pierce, Granny’s shutdown after 53 years, the worn-out owners saying “We are going to sit on the front porch and rest…..I think we deserve it.”  Hard Rock Cafe issued a shutdown WARN for its HQ in Orlando, 184 jobs gone between April and July!

Georgia: Atlanta based Coca Cola eliminating even more jobs, this time an additional 350 corporate level jobs!  At the same time Coca Cola administrators swear they are hiring.  Kroger shutting down a 26 years old grocery store, on the south side of Savannah, more than 1-hundred jobs gone in March due to “declining sales and negative profit” (‘negative profit’ is Orwellian doublespeak for losses).  Local news reports said customers were shocked as the store is “always packed”, but also admitted there were now a lot of competitors in the area.

Hawaii:  The Shack suddenly shutdown its 26 years old Hawaii Kai location, the owners were not able to renew the lease.

Idaho: Blind Bat News reader reported that the Pita Pit, in Pocatello, shutdown without warning.

Illinois:  In Chicago, after 41 years iconic Carson’s Prime Steaks Famous BBQ forced to shutdown by property developers. Also in Chicago, Marcello’s suddenly shutdown one of its three pizza joints, no official reason given but property redevelopment (gentrification) is suspected. In Downers Grove, after 15 years restaurant Carlucci suddenly shutdown, the property was sold.  In Belleville, IHOP shutting down its 45 years old restaurant, on Carlyle Avenue, because the local franchise owner is retiring and nobody wanted to take-over the franchise.  In Crystal Lake, Joseph’s Marketplace shutdown after 12 years, no official explanation, but residents and even city leaders blame it on several new grocery stores that have opened since 2015: “I’m not sure we can support all these stores. Iowa: Hy-Vee shutting down its grocery store in Waterloo, 282 jobs gone by the end of March because Hy-Vee built too many grocery stores in the region! 

Louisiana: In New Orleans, Lakeview Harbor Restaurant forced to shutdown after 25 years because the landlord revoked the lease.  Non-profit Hollygrove Market & Farm suddenly shutdown saying “We are reorganizing financially and will have another announcement about our permanent status as soon as possible.”  It was later revealed they ran out of money.  Internet based food delivery service Street Breads now chapter 11 bankrupt busted due to debts that far outweigh its assets.

Maine: Somebody is going around and shooting people’s goats and shooting cows.

Massachusetts: In Arlington, after a couple of decades Bagels By Us shutting down in March, the property is for sale.

Michigan: In Brighton, after 35 years iconic ice cream shop Yum Yum Tree suddenly shutdown, on facebook the owners promised a detailed explanation would be released.  Angry customers said they should have given at least a month notice so they could fatten up on the unique ice cream treats.  In Ostego, after 70 years Harding’s (Harding and Hill) shutdown, no reason given.

Minnesota: Colorado based Pilgrim’s Pride shutting down a former Gold’n Plump corporate office in Saint Cloud, 30 jobs gone due to Pilgrim’s Pride $350-million USD take-over of Gold’n Plump in 2016-17.  In Saint Paul, after 20 years the Wild Onion shutting down in March, the owner blamed reduced revenues and increased costs such as minimum wage. In Duluth, after 14 years Johnson’s Bakery Lakeside shutting down by the end of April, due to not being able to renew the lease.  In Minneapolis, after more than 60 years the last Vescio’s Italian Restaurant shutdown. At one time there were two Vescio’s.  Bellisio Foods issued a WARN, 105 jobs in Austin gone by April!

Missouri: DineEquity owned, Kansas City based, Applebee’s added an additional 80 restaurants to its previously announced plan to shutdown 1-hundred restaurants in 2018, due to “lack of performance”.  In Kansas City, after 54 years upscale Plaza III The Steakhouse shutting down in March, 30 jobs lost with no explanation by the owners.   Pi Pizzeria suddenly shutdown its Kirkwoood location due to gentrification (construction projects) destroying the employee parking lot: “…we’ve lost our employee parking lot due to a redevelopment, and that leaves us with fewer than 25 guest parking spots…”-facebook post

Montana: In Missoula, after 27 years Uptown Diner shutdown, crashing sales were blamed on the demise of the Macy’s store next door.

Nebraska: C & C Specialty Market shutting down its store in Beatrice, in April, so the owners can focus on their more profitable operations.

New Jersey: In Freehold, International Vitamin eliminating 160 jobs in May!

New Mexico: In Albuquerque, the once profitable Farmers Market chain is now dead.  Local news media say at one time there were ten Farmers Markets in New Mexico: “We’ve always had competition, but in the last five to seven years, it was much harder.”-Jhett Browne, owner of the last Farmers Market

New York: In NYC, 21-Club revealed to state officials that they suddenly shutdown back in January, 156 jobs suddenly gone, blamed on Mother Earth (climate change-storm damage)! Also in NYC, Siggy’s Good Food suddenly shutdown, the owner saying “…it’s time to fly.”    JJC Food suddenly shutdown its Hicksville grocery store, 38 jobs gone, blamed on Mother Earth (climate change-storm damage)!  Williamsville based Tops Friendly Markets now chapter 11 bankrupt busted, blaming increased competition. GLK Foods shutting down ops in Shortsville, 50 jobs gone in September due to consolidation. In Rochester, after almost 20 years restaurant 2-Vine shutdown due to the owner’s health problems.   PepsiCo eliminating 2-hundred corporate level InfoTech and finance jobs in Westchester, as part of its global plan to kill jobs. Local news media revealed that PepsiCo (Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Tropicana, Gatorade, Quaker) was getting $4-million USD in state taxpayer funded credits and another $7-million from sales-tax breaks in Westchester County!

North Carolina: Charlotte based Healthy Home Market grocery chain now chapter 7 bankrupt and being consumed by its creditors, its last two stores were shutdown in January, thousands of jobs lost! In Monroe, after 25 years Seacrest Feed & Seed shutting down by March, due to the greedy property owners.  Logan’s Roadhouse suddenly shutdown due to a “corporate decision”.

North Dakota: In Bismarck, Dan’s Supermarket shutdown after 65 years, due to not being able to renew the lease.

Ohio:  A fire in a barn on Country Lane Tree Farm killed dozens of goats and chickens.

Pennsylvania:  After almost 50 years Mattocks Five Incorporated suddenly shutdown several operations (known as Albion Mill, Meadville Farm and Garden, 5M Feeds Waterford, 5M Feeds Titusville) with only a two days notice on facebook, and no explanation.  In Ardmore, Chung Sing forced to shutdown by the end of March, due to the landlord canceling the lease.  In Pittsburgh, BYOB restaurant Avenue B shutdown due to not being able to renew the lease.  “The Greater Washington County Food Bank reports on its website that Washington County has an estimated 25,000 people who are food insecure, more than 30 percent of its clients are children under the age of 18 and 20 percent are senior citizens.”

Despite supplying restaurants with poultry for more than ten years, family run Quails R Us Plus facing foreclosure, several area chefs are holding a ‘rescue dinner’ to save the poultry farm.

  South Carolina: Florida based Tijuana Flats shutting down its less than two years old restaurant on Percival Road, in Columbia, by March.  Terrace Restaurants suddenly shutdown its Greenville location, after being open less than a year, due to lack of sales.

Tennessee: In Murfreesboro, after more than two years Sub Stop suddenly shutdown because the owners got an offer from a property developer they couldn’t refuse. After ten years in East Nashville, Pied Piper Eatery shutdown as a result of the owner’s death two years ago.

Texas:  In Pflugerville, after one year Idle Vine Brewery shutting down by March.  In Austin, after 45 years Buck Moore Feed & Supply shutdown. Bellisio Foods shutting down its factory in Austin.  Kettle & Brine shutdown its brick-n-mortar store in Austin, will continue selling kitchen krap online.  In San Angelo, after 30 years Chinese Kitchen shutdown, the overworked underpaid owner complained “It has been extremely hard to get workers for the restaurant……..working 14 hours for seven days a week is hard on my husband and me.”  After seven years Grinners Daiquiri Bar shutdown due to not being a good ‘fit’ for San Angelo.

Virginia: After more than 35 years Frankie’s Place for Ribs shutdown without warning, die-hard fans were shocked, the owner blamed declining sales and increasing costs.  In Richmond, after less than five years Kitchen on Cary suddenly shutdown.  A poultry farm fire in Mount Vernon killed an estimated 14-thousand chicks!

Washington:  In Spokane, after 20 years Wolf Creek Lodge Steakhouse suddenly shutdown.  Marine View Beverage shutting down operations across the state, 278 jobs gone by mid-April!   Pacific Seafood issued a shutdown WARN, 69 Federal Way jobs gone by the end of April.

Washington DC: Le Mano Coffee Bar shutdown after almost five years, the owner wants more family time.  After nine years award winning chocolate restaurant Co Co Sala suddenly shutdown.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) warns “…a relatively strong U.S. dollar is expected to dampen growth in U.S. agricultural exports, the United States remains competitive in global agricultural markets, in part due to efficiency and quality margins, and export values grow over the next ten years. Net farm income is expected to increase in 2018 followed by a drop…”

Wisconsin: After 110 years (surviving The Great Depression and numerous recessions) Silver Spring House Bar & Restaurant suddenly shutdown, the property is for sale, asking price $1.2-million USD.  For the fifth year in a row income for Wisconsin farmers is expected to be down from the record high in 2013.

California: A man who called himself the Rehab Mogul (because he owned at least 13 drug rehabilitation centers) was actually a drug dealer, Christopher Bathum was convicted of 31 counts of sex and drug crimes.  Opioid kills three people, bodies found near a San Francisco school. 

Connecticut: Out of fear of lawsuits, Stamford based Purdue Pharma halted promotional ops to get doctors to push their opioid drugs. 

Florida: Overdoses, DUIs, stolen drugs.   State Department of Law Enforcement accuse two Titusville cops of buying illegal drugs.

Idaho: Two people were arrested after the Idaho Falls Police Department seized 504 grams of marijuana and 1.4 grams of methamphetamine.

Illinois:  Federal indictments of nine people on drugs charges reveal link to unsolved murders going back to 2016.

Indiana: Police responding to reports of vehicles blocking access to postal mail boxes (which is a federal crime) ended up arresting six people on drug and counterfeiting charges in Columbus.  Kids Count Report from the Indiana Youth Institute says drug overdoses now kill more Hoosiers than car crashes and gun violence combined!

Iowa: Is the state Department of Human Services accusing parents of doing drugs in order to ‘legally kidnap’ children?  In the latest case a woman who swears she’s never done illegal drugs, and also tested negative for illegal drugs, is still fighting to get her child back (and have her name removed from child abuse records) after a DHS employee burst into her home, without a warrant, and stole her child!    

Kentucky: The gov’na blames mass shootings on prescription drugs. 

Maryland: USN running drugs as an investigation into a report of illegal drug use at the U.S. Naval Academy gets underway.  Baltimore Police Stole, Sold Drugs and Covered Up Killings!

Michigan:  The son of billionaire Little Caesars founder Mike Ilitch was found dead in a Troy hotel, surrounded by drugs.  A former The Voice contestant arrested and accused of trafficking marijuana and opioids.  

Missouri: A 21 years old woman sentenced to 40 years for murdering a Mexican drug dealer, in an attempt to avoid paying her illegal drugs bill. 

New Jersey:  Non-profit hospitals are so desperate to save money they’re proposing a plan that will allow them to make their own prescription drugs.  Prospect Park Police arrest a man with drugs near Manchester High School (maybe it is a ‘high’ school).

New York: Columbia University discovered the Hudson River is full of prescription drugs.  A Niagara County Probation Officer finally caught stealing prescription drugs from parolees, the victims said they were afraid to report the crime-by-cop because of fear of retribution and the fact that nobody believes a parolee.

North Carolina:  A Hickory man and a Phoenix, Arizona, woman both were charged in Morganton for trafficking drugs.  Greenville woman arrested for trafficking more than two pounds of ‘coke’, in front of her children.

Ohio: State Department of Health warning that synthetic opioid fentanyl is being mixed with other drugs, resulting in overdoses.

Oklahoma:  Two people arrested for dealing drugs right in front of the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office!

Oregon: A man found with a firearm, a knife, meth and marijuana after he was suspected of car prowling in Northwest Portland, on 26FEB2018.

Pennsylvania:  Neshannock Township police confiscated drugs and money, and arrested two men from New Castle’s East Side. 

South Carolina: A 20 years old ‘christian’ woman had a really bad trip and gouged out her own eyes during a church service!  Apparently the meth-ganja mix she took before church caused her to think she had to blind herself to get to heaven. 

Tennessee: Uber driver arrested with multiple drugs in his system.

Texas:  A woman tried to hide her illegal drugs by shitting on them while detained inside a Corsicana cop car!

Utah: A woman arrested with 35 pounds of meth and ‘coke’, she gave the excuse that “I am just a single mom and I was offered an opportunity.”  She also doesn’t know how to drive because that’s how she was caught.

Vermont: A Canadian was arrested trying to smuggle illegally made prescription drugs into the United States on a sled. Apparently he had been doing it since 2016, because ‘Mericans are so addicted to prescription drugs that drug runners from British empire Canada can make millions of U.S. dollars every time they cross the border with their stash.

Washington: Seattle based Amazon wants in on the drugs racket by launching its own line of non-prescription drugs.  Everett man accused of raping a high school student as she died from an overdose. 

Washington DC:  A Senate level investigation revealed that the pharmaceutical industry spent at least $10-million USD to promote opioid drug use!  Gizmodo reports that the FDA is trying to make it easier for you to get drugs.   The FDA even approved a record number of generic prescription drugs (1-thousand and 27) in 2017!  While the Food & Drug Administration wants to make it easier for you to get your prescription meds, the FDA discovered that mass produced canned pet food is laced with drugs designed to kill!  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services predicts that ‘Mericans love for legal drugs will cause taxpayer funding of prescription drugs to grow faster than any other segment of healthcare. 

West Virginia: Parkersburg police arrest two people after a drug bust at a motel in Mineral Wells. 

Wisconsin:  64-year-old Milwaukee man placed on probation for sending a drug to his son who is serving time in Fox Lake Correctional Institution.

Alabama: Presbyterian-agnostic Warren Buffet owned clothing maker Fruit of the Loom laid off 72 people at its Russell Brand’s factory in Alexander City.  Local news media reported that ever since Warren Buffet bought the operation (in 2006) there have been continuous layoffs, at one time there were more than 1-thousand people working at the factory, now there’s less than 5-hundred.

Arkansas: Presbyterian founded, Bentonville based Walmart revealed the truth behind their pay raises and bonuses, by suddenly shutting down dozens of Sam’s Clubs and Walmarts killing thousand of jobs, plus announcing intentions to layoff 1-thousand corporate level employees between now and the end of 2019!

California: In the Los Angeles area, church vandalisms are so common place that a taxpayer funded House of Worship Task Force has been created.  The task force arrested a man suspected of set fire to the Church of the Angels, the Resurrection Catholic Church and another Episcopal church, as well as spray painting Bible verses on the Ancient Church of the East Mar Shaleeta Parish.  The House of Worship Task Force believes the man they arrested has been vandalizing churches since February 2017.  In Santa Maria, the former married pastor couple of Church for Life being sued for sex crimes.  The lawsuit accuses the husband and wife pastors of sex crimes that took place from 2014 to 2016, and says other church leaders knew about it.  God powerless to stop ‘his’ Seventh Day Adventists from killing multiple healthcare operations; Adventist Health Sonora eliminating 135 jobs in April, Adventist Health Feather River shutting down 72 jobs gone by April, Adventist Health Glendale shutting down 167 jobs gone by April, Adventist Health Simi Valley shutting down 70 jobs gone by April, Adventist Health Reedley and Selma eliminating 115 jobs, Adventist Health Hanford eliminating 205 jobs, Adventist Health Saint Helena eliminating 2-hundred jobs, Adventist Health Corporate in Roseville eliminating 229 jobs!  Methodist founded Tyson Foods issued a layoff  WARN for its chicken plucking ops in San Diego, 79 jobs gone mid-March.

Connecticut: Police arrested a church employee who was hiding in the First Congregational Church, for assaulting his mother.  The female pastor of the church tried to protect the man by claiming that police are not allowed to make arrests in churches, she  promptly quit her job when it was clear police would not comply with her holy-than-thou demands.

Delaware: A former priest with Catholic Diocese of Wilmington charged with child rape.  The alleged crime took place 25 years ago.

Florida: First United Methodist Church of Miami sold some of its land to a property developer, for $55-million USD.

Georgia:  The congregation of the 98 years old Sanctuary Village of Power (formerly Underwood Methodist Church) has been given a vacate notice by the new owner of the property.  The greedy owner worships money and is rumored to have plans for building a Starbucks where the iconic church building now stands.  Methodist co-founded Coca Cola embarked on a mission to shutdown bottling/warehouse ops, 430 jobs across the U.S. gone!  Somebody stole the Lighthouse Community Church‘s van, instead of ‘god’ an Hollywood actor worked a miracle and bought the church anew van.

Idaho: Signs of religio-class warfare as rich Mormon dominated taxpayer funded School District 25 in Bannock County wants to end what it calls “student self-segregation”.  It involves a decades old rivalry between rich-Mormon-brat-prep’s and wannabe-prep’s Highland High School and everybody else’s (including poor working class Mormons) Pocatello High School (aka Pokey High).  ‘Christian’ Gem State lawmakers supporting a bill that will expand the use of taxpayer funded prisoners in the agriculture industry!  

Illinois:    A mysterious fire burned the attic of the 1-hundred years old Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church, it was also revealed that a couple of years ago a mysterious fire burned the church’s altar.   God powerless to stop the Archdiocese of Chicago from shutting down five schools (Saint Cyprian School, Holy Cross School, Incarnation School, Our Lady of the Ridge School, Saint Michael School)  due to The Rapture, I mean what I call DSS.

Indiana: The Unitarian Universalist Church in West Lafayette targeted with vandalism for its support of LGBT, and possibly because it is anti-Trump.

Kansas:  Some parents of students at Herington Elementary School stood up to christian bullying and halted the 1st Amendment violation of Bibles being forced upon public elementary school students: “The district’s actions in assisting the Gideons in distributing Bibles to elementary students represents a clear breach of the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution and we hereby demand assurances that this practice will discontinue immediately.”-Appignani Humanist Legal Center

Kentucky: Southern Acres Christian Church banned just under a dozen members for disagreeing with the church pastor! Isn’t christian ‘democracy’ wonderful?

Louisiana: God powerless to stop Mother Earth from halting Mount Olive AME Church‘s food program.  The program feeds about 3-hundred people everyday, but was halted when unusually cold weather damaged water pipes and a water heater.  7-hundred members of the Northwest Louisiana Baptist Association are so afeared of what’s happening to the United States, and their idea of christianity, that they held an emergency prayer fest and asked ‘god’ to protect cops, the “persecuted church”, missionaries and church leaders.

Maine: Methodist founded Goodwill shutting down its 50 years old Lewiston thrift store, because sales are too low.

Massachusetts: A woman charged with stealing more than $20-thousand USD from The First Church of Deerfield while she worked as an administrative assistant there.  Church leaders discovered the theft after the woman was charged with stealing money from a condominium association.   God powerless to stop the shutdown of ‘his’ 1-hundred years old Our Lady of the Rosary Church, due to lack of tithe paying members.

Michigan:  Seventh Day Adventist founded Kellogg issued a layoff WARN for its RTEC (Ready-To-Eat Cereal) Plant, 14 jobs lost as part of its plan “…to simplify and streamline operations in our North American cereal network.”  A man was arrested and accused of breaking into church services (Griswold Street Baptist Church, Bridges Church and First Presbyterian Church) and threatening to whack people with a hammer if the didn’t repent.

Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ

Minnesota: 15 years ago Pilgrim Lutheran Church started services  to bring alienated christians back to church by offering alternative sermon-less night time services, so far only 250 people per month attend things like Celtic Service, Nordic Service and Compline for a New Millennium.  The bankruptcy mediator for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis suddenly quit, and refused to say why.   Taxpayers forced to pay for the repairing of two churches, Central Presbyterian Church and Friends of Historic Virginia Street Church, under the guise of preserving historic buildings.

Missouri: Gov’na Eric Greitens wants lawmakers to extend a taxpayer funded college scholarship program for graduates of taxpayer funded high schools to graduates of privately funded (christian?) high schools.  A now former church volunteer charged with hiding cameras in the toilet rooms of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  God wasn’t on his side as his own video cameras recorded him doing the evil deed.

New Mexico: God powerless to stop ‘his’ Holy Cross Hospital from suddenly laying off 12 people due to a new Medicare payment method.

New Jersey: The owners of bankrupt Toys R Us, which includes Mormon-Mitt Romney co-founded Bain Capital, shutting down at least 182 stores by the end of Spring 2018.

New York: In Blauvelt, the now vacant 205 years old Greenbush Presbyterian Church has been sold to a foreign Catholic church based in India!  The Greenbush Presbyterian Church was vacated in October 2016 due to disappearing members (The Rapture?).  NYC based The Episcopal Church’s Church Pension Group (CPG) reporting that their latest survey revealed “big changes” affecting church clergy.   Some of the changes include a big decline in full time employment by the the church with a single position, with gradually (predictable) increasing pay.  The current trends now show more part time work, clergy working multiple church positions, and some clergy even forced to get jobs outside the church to support themselves.   In Manhattan-NYC, after 33 years Coogan’s shutdown due to a massive $40-thousand USD per month increase in rent by the ‘christian’ owners of the property (New York Presbyterian Hospital)!  God powerless to stop the shutdown of ‘his’ 94 years old (surviving The Great Depression and numerous recessions) Saint John Villa Academy, apparently god needs money because The Sisters are conducting a study to see how much money would be made from selling the school.  Influenza more powerful than ‘god’ as Catholic churches in Buffalo halt the use of wine during Mass and forbid church members from shaking each others hands, due to the flu epidemic.

North Carolina: The Summit Church doesn’t think there are enough churches in the world, promising to build 1-thousand new churches over the next 50 years.  Leaders say it’s “God’s Plan A for reaching a lost world.”  I got news for you, that’s been the plan from the very beginning of christendom about 2-thousand years ago!

Ohio:  God powerless to stop ‘his’ Premier Health owned Good Samaritan Hospital, on Philadelphia Drive in Dayton, from shutting down.   1-thousand-6-hundred jobs affected by the end of 2018, due to a plan by Premier Health to ‘repurpose’ the hospital property!  Quaker founded, Cincinnati based Macy’s announced it will continue shutting down stores through 2018, plus eliminate 5-thousand jobs!  

Oklahoma: Christian Science Monitor explains How cattle rustling and drugs are roiling rural America.

Pennsylvania:  The now former youth leader of Oxford Valley Chapel pled guilty to molesting two teenage girls, and was sentenced to just under two years in prison.

Tennessee: Highpoint Church hires investigators to investigate one of their own pastors, and to investigate former church leaders, after women accused the pastor of sex crimes.  The now former pastor (who confessed to the crimes in front of his congregation earlier this month) says he admitted to a sex act with a teenager during his job interview with church elders, which means church leaders knew of the crime before they hired him!

Texas: Remember the baby splitting trial of King Solomon?  The leader of LIFT Community Church now suing the leader of new competitive church Lift Frisco, basically for threatening territorial domination of the Dallas-Fort Worth area!  In Austin, an illegal immigrant family is taking sanctuary in Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, for the second time!  Presbyterian-Methodist-Episcopalian co-founded Irving based toilet paper and disposable diaper maker Kimberly Clark announced plans to shutdown ten factories worldwide, killing-off 5-thousand jobs over the next year-and-a-half!  Kimberly Clark administrators blame their efforts to reduce costs by $550-million USD, by 2022, on the U.S. population Death Spiral (not enough babies being born).

Utah: The new LDS (Later Day Saints) leaders openly support protecting the children of illegal immigrants, known as Dreamers.

Washington: A child is being blamed for a fire in historic Saint Patrick Catholic Church which destroyed the nursery room.  The original Saint Patrick Catholic Church was destroyed by fire in 1905.

Washington DC:  Congress snuck into its latest funding bill provisions to use taxpayer dollars so FEMA can rebuild churches destroyed by natural disasters.  I guess ‘god’ isn’t powerful enough to get the job done, so FEMA has to do it!

West Virginia: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the largest and most powerful of ‘mormon’ churches) hit by a lawsuit claiming LDS officials knew about and covered up a local leader’s sexual abuse of children for at least five years.  The local Mormon leader was found guilty of at least two cases of sex crimes and sentenced to 75 years in prison.  The Salt Lake Tribune reported that LDS leaders promoted the man as a role model for youth.

Wisconsin:  God powerless to stop ‘his’ Saint Gregory Catholic School from shutting down due to lack of students, apparently they’re unable to meet the minimum of 20 students required for next school year.

Former employees of religious non-profits might not qualify for unemployment assistance (or even be counted as unemployed): “If the non-profit organization is a church, you may or may not be entitled to unemployment. It all depends upon state regulations for church employers. In many cases, churches are allowed to set their own rules regarding unemployment benefits, meaning the church can choose whether to offer benefits to former employees.”
