Suddenly, The Fog, then just as quick it was gone!

On the eve of the Julian Christmas/New Years, an inversion suddenly descended upon Cotant Park, in Chubbuck, Idaho.

The air was still, it was eerily quiet, not even the road noise from nearby Interstates 15 and 86 could be heard.

The air temperature was between -4 and -3 degrees Celsius, but it felt warm.

Then suddenly, and unfortunately for me, just after midnight as I started taking photos the west wind blew in, sweeping the fog from the park.  If you want the weather to change around here, just wait five minutes, or drive five miles.

What Global Warming? It’s Summer in South America, yet 2,500 Alpacas die due to extreme cold

When it’s winter time in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s summer time in the Southern Hemisphere, yet it’s so cold that animals are freezing to death in one South American country.

In the Cusco region of Peru, officials are reporting that at least 2,500 baby Alpacas froze to death.  That’s based on the areas that Civil Defense authorities could get to, most roads are blocked because of heavy snow: “There are 700 families who are dedicated breeders in the area, but we can not get to them because of the snow….we might discover even more deaths.”-Jose Suyco Quispe, Civil Defense Technical Secretary of Espinar province

What Global Warming? Winter like weather shuts off water for residents of Chubbuck, Idaho (has pictures)

The morning of November 5, hundreds of Chubbuckians awoke to no water in the their taps.  This after a small overnight snow storm (a little early for the Pocatello/Chubbuck area).

The water had blasted its way down a full city block, flowing over the sidewalks.

Good thing we got snow; time to start collecting buckets of snow so we can flush our toilets! (actually water was flowing through the taps again by 16:00 hours/4pm Mountain time)
