116th Armored Cav NTC, June 2019. Overseas deployment in 2020!

Video, C Company, 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment, M1A2 SEP and M2 Bradley live fire (the voice you hear in the video is one of the first female armor platoon leaders in the U.S.):

At the end of May, 2019, the  Idaho Army National Guard’s 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team (which includes personnel from Oregon, Montana and Nevada) deployed more than 3-thousand troops to the U.S. Army’s Fort Irwin National Training Center (NTC) in California.

Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Fighter Wing also deployed their A-10C Thunderbolt-2s to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, to provide close air support at NTC.  Even Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) personnel from Brazil joined in.

Video explainer of helicopter ops:

Specialist James Patrick launches a RQ-11 Raven Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV, drone).

Another 1-thousand-plus support troops from several other state militias (Arizona, California, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and Puerto Rico), and several Army Reserve units, joined the 116th Armored Cav.

11th Cav OpFor ‘surrogate vehicle’ is an M113 dressed up to look ‘Russian’.

The state militias faced off against the U.S. Army’s 11th Cav Opposition Force (OpFor), who provided what’s now called ‘near peer’ threats.  Near peer is a reference to China and Russia.

Even Idaho Air National Guard’s 266th Range Squadron played bad guy, deploying fake 1/1 scale models of ‘enemy’ anti-air vehicles.

The wargame lasted 14 days.  The official report stated that this training is preparation for 116th’s deployment to NATO Germany in Spring 2020.

10JAN2019 (04:45 UTC-07 Tango 06) 20 Dey 1397/03 Jumada l-Ula 1440/05 Gui-Chou 4716

“I assume this trusted position with enthusiasm, gratitude, eagerness, but most important of all, with great humility. To the men and women of the Oregon Air Guard, let me convey that as your next leader, as an organization, we will continue to stay focused on the future.”-Brigadier General Donna M. Prigmore, first female to become a general in the Oregon Air National Guard

Promotion for Oregon Air National Guard Commander Donna Prigmore, 05AUG2018. Oregon Air National Guard photo by Master Sergeant John Hughel.

“What is the future? Without question, state and federal mission requirements are not slowing down and global varsity-level challenges will continue – it is imperative that resilient Airmen continue to be fit, deployable and can establish trusted partnerships with our coalition partners.”

Prigmore also talked about new missions for Oregon’s Air Guard: “Expanding our partnerships with organizations like the FBI, the Oregon Fusion Center, Bonneville Power Administration, and the Oregon Technology Institute…just to name a few.”

Prigmore has made a career of the military since 1982, with more than 12 of those years in command positions.

U.S. FOOD CRISIS, July 2018: “THE RISE OF BIG BOX STORES”

What happens to your pets after Paradise is destroyed by the Fires of Hell?

“As awful as this situation is, it has boosted my confidence in humanity.”-Michelle Moore, Chico State student from Texas working 12 hour shifts to save the animals

The recent Camp Fire in the not-so-golden (for many reasons) U.S. state of California wiped out the town of Paradise.  Not only are thousands of people now homeless, so are an estimated 1-thousand-8-hundred pets.

Video of California National Guard UH-60M Black Hawk attempting to block Camp Fire from spreading:

Many of the now homeless cats and dogs are being housed at the Chico Municipal Airport.  Volunteers, with groups like North Valley Animal Disaster Group, are struggling to help.  Even the California National Guard is helping: “We’re unloading people’s donations and giving people donations that have been received. We give people the right directions if their animal is lost, or if their animal is here and they want to visit them. It’s good to show your support and help them the best way you can. It gives me pride and joy…to help them with whatever they need.”-Specialist Mark Maynard, California Army National Guard

Pallets full of pet food, piles of dog beds, and boxes of leashes and toys have arrived at the airport, and there’s a steady stream of people driving up to donate what they can.

Because of the fires the Chico Municipal Airport is not open to normal air traffic, so it was picked to be a temporary animal shelter.  Many of the unpaid volunteers work 12 hours at a time. National Guard Military Police patrol the airport at night so the volunteers can take a break.

The lost pets are brought in by fire fighters, utility workers, or the pets are there because their owners are also now homeless.   But there are reunions between lost pets and owners as well.  Other organizations working to save the pets of Paradise are Butte County Animal Control, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corp: “This effort is just so huge. It’s a rare and extraordinary thing. It takes all of us to get things done.”-Norm Rosene, North Valley Animal Disaster Group

The California Army National Guard, along with the USDA Veterinary Services, also assisted livestock owners.
