Hurricane 2021: U.S. military; major hurricanes can develop rapidly with little or no warning!

This U.S. Marine Corps graphic was designed by Lance Corporal Devin Darden, and displayed in the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

The first WC-130J mission of the 2021 Hurricane season was a ‘lower level invest’ (LLI) over The Gulf of Mexico.

LLIs are flown by WC-130Js at a lower altitude than regular storm missions, whenever weather satellites are having a hard time finding the center of a tropical system.

It is also called Deployable Tactical Operating System (DTOS).  It allows USACE personnel to integrate with local, federal and state authorities.  The DTOS/ECCV-7 was one of many USACE vehicles being deployed from Florida to Puerto Rico.

Biden’s War: Tennessee to spend your taxes in Africa

Tennessee National Guard photo by Staff Sergeant Timothy Cordeiro.

C-12 Huron pilots with Tennessee Army National Guard’s Detachment 6, A Company, 2nd Battalion, 641st Aviation Regiment, held a deployment ceremony on 12JUN2021.  They will be spending nine months in Africa, after deployment training on Fort Bliss, Texas.

Then, on 22JUN2021, five militiamen with the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 1957th Contingency Contracting Team said official good-byes during a ceremony in Nashville.

The mission of the five from Tennessee will be to spend U.S. taxes on foreign supplied logistical services, like food and lodging, in the operational area known as Horn of Africa: “Contracts are often given to local workers which really helps drive the economy in the area.”-Captain Eric Bolin, Tennessee National Guard’s United States Property & Fiscal Office

On 10JUN2021, New York Army National Guard’s 501st Ordnance Battalion, 53rd Troop Command, held a deployment ceremony at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Glenville.

The 23 personnel of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) support headquarters company are, apparently, deploying to Kuwait.  Chief Warrant Officer 2 Daniel Ambia admitted that their pre-deployment training was conducted ‘virtually’ due to the pandemic-panic-attack, but was confident enough to say “…I think we’ll be okay. Everybody is pretty good at what they do.”

On 15JUN2021, more than 2-hundred militia personnel of the 1st Squadron, 104th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, deployed to Texas (for deployment training on Fort Bliss), and then to northern Africa.

On 14JUN2021, a deployment ceremony was held at Southampton Armory, Philadelphia.  According to a U.S. Army report, the Pennsylvania Army National Guard will end up in Egypt (Which is physically in Africa, not The Middle East. The U.S. government has been listing any Arab speaking/Muslim country as being in The Middle East/Southwest Asia. The only part of Egypt that is in Southwest Asia is the Sinai Peninsula.).

Rogue One ExEval: Oregon mass-casualty event!

During the middle of June 2021, Oregon Air National Guard personnel responded to a mass-casualty CBRNE (Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive) event at a place called Camp Rilea.

Thankfully it was a training event, known as ‘Rogue One’ ExEval (sometimes meaning Exploitation Evaluation, or Exercise Evaluation, or External Evaluation, they can’t seem to make up their minds as I’ve seen all these used in military press releases), which takes place every two years (biennial).

U.S. Wildfire prep, 2021: Connecticut & New York join forces for coming disaster!

In August 2019, the governors of New York and Connecticut made an agreement to join their respective National Guard forces in case of disasters.  This is called New Mutual Aid Emergency Management Inter-State Compact, and also involves state police.  No justification was given other than that the two states needed to “collaborate” for future cross-border emergencies.

2020’s pandemic-panic-attack delayed joint training for wildfires.

During the first week of May 2021, New York and Connecticut helicopter crews finally joined-up with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers, for training over the Mohawk River.

“Our procedures vary a little bit compared to what they’re used to, and there’s a lot of terminology they use we have to get used to. We have to get used to working them to develop that crew mix and synergy. One thing we learned is that our previous spot-drop techniques are often not a good course of action due to the way the rotor downwash can fan out the flames.”-Captain Forest Thrush, 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation Regiment

U.S. Wildfire prep, 2021: Alaska airborne Red Card

“If we didn’t do this training to get the federal Red Card certification, we wouldn’t be able to support the state in every possible scenario. This gives the state the full flexibility to use resources in the National Guard regardless of who’s managing the fire.”-Lieutenant Colonel Michele Edwards, Alaska Army National Guard

Red Card is also known as Incident Qualification Card, it is a type of fire fighting training that is accepted by various federal and state agencies.  Alaska Army National Guard CH-47 and UH-60 helicopter crews conducted Red Card training on 09JUN2021.
