Labor Shortage Shenanigans: Vermont Militia becomes Job Service for civilian employers!

Vermont is a geographically small state, a little smaller than the regions of Eastern and Southeastern Idaho (which, apparently, at the federal level are combined in one Eastern Idaho region), but with a population just over half-a-million. The regions of Eastern and Southeastern Idaho have combined populations of less than a half-a-million.

Despite being relatively population dense, the Vermont National Guard is having trouble finding new recruits to join-up, and silly-vilian (civilian) employers claim they can’t find qualified workers. They have created a new ‘incentive’ program called Partnered Recruiting Initiative for Military and Employers, or PRIME.

On 11FEB2023, a company called Blodgett Oven announced that it was willing to become the first victim, I mean participant.

The official signing ceremony took place on 15FEB2023.

Basically, PRIME is a type of ‘civilian’ employment system for National Guard personnel: “At Blodgett, we understand the importance of supporting our military members and their families. We are thrilled to be the first employer to join the PRIME Program and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our community.”-Erica Havers, President of Blodgett Ovens

Time line of events from February 3rd to February 15th, 2023.

On 03FEB2023, a train carrying an unknown amount of toxic chemicals derailed near East Palestine, Ohio.

Two days later, on 05FEB2023, the governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, deployed the state militia’s 52nd Civil Support Team, as well as ordered residents to evacuate. The governor’s official reason was “catastrophic tanker failure.”

During the evening of 06FEB2023, West Virginia National Guard’s 35th Civil Support Team (CST) deployed to East Palestine, after getting a call for help from the Ohio National Guard. It was considered quid-pro-quo for responding to a CBRN event in West Virginia: “Our team members are highly trained for these exact type situations, and we are proud to provide assistance to our neighbors in Ohio. The Ohio 52nd CST was the very first team on the ground… …to assist West Virginia during the 2014 Elk River MCHM spill. It’s our honor to return the favor and provide support for and with them.”– Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Floyd, 35th CST

On 07FEB2023, a television reporter was arrested while trying to do a live report from the governor’s press conference. Was the derailment the result of U.S. rail-workers recently being screwed over by the government? :

The arrest of the reporter was preceded by the General of the Ohio National Guard, Major General John Harris, pushing the reporter. Police body-cam video shows the general lied about the incident, the general actually tried attacking the reporter! You can also hear the State Highway Patrol tell the reporter he will be arrested for trespassing and that they do not care about any legal ramifications:

On 13FEB2023, a ‘departure’ (new Defense Department word for deployment) ceremony was held for the 201st Regional Support Group (RSG) of the Georgia Army National Guard: “This organization has a rich history supporting the Army National Guard’s two missions: responding during domestic response operations and fighting and winning as the primary combat reserve of the Army.”-Brigadier General Dwayne Wilson, Georgia Army National Guard

It was not revealed as to where the Georgia state militia was deploying to, other than “overseas”.

Here is some interesting food-crisis information; back in April 2011, 58 of Georgia’s RSG militia personnel were ordered into active federal service, as Agribusiness Development Team-1. Then in 2012, a second ADT unit (known as Agribusiness Development Team-2) from Georgia was deployed. In 2013, ADT-3 was deployed, again from Georgia. Agribusiness Development Teams (ADT) are all about spending U.S. taxes helping Afghanistan grow food! Multiple state militia units from several U.S. states served in the ADT role in Afghanistan.

On 10FEB2023, about 50 state militia personnel with the Ohio Army National Guard’s 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade are deploying to NATO-Europe, it is the unit’s third such ‘rotation’ (what I call revolving-door deployments).

In October 2022, it was revealed that the Ohio Air & Army National Guards are having a hard time meeting recruitment goals:

Hunger Games: Idaho to build largest Dairy research center in the U.S.! Another White Elephant?

“We are building the nation’s largest research dairy in Rupert, Idaho. That doesn’t happen if we don’t have dairy processors come to the table and say, ‘We are going to support the producer community and put money toward this project.”-Rick Naerebout, CEO of the Idaho Dairymen’s Association

It is set to begin dairy ‘research’ in 2024, the University of Idaho’s taxpayer and food industry funded Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (CAFE, part of a larger CAFE Discovery Center): “Collectively, we can move mountains. From the Idaho Legislature to Redox and others in agriculture, it truly is a remarkable partnership that will pay widespread dividends.”–Michael Parrella, Dean of the University of Idaho’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, 07FEB2023

The new CAFE is being funded by a combination of Idaho taxes and food industry donations. The latest donation came from an Idaho company called Redox Bio-Nutrients, a half-million dollars! The CAFE is expected to cost at least $45-million to complete (keep in mind that the cost keeps going up, in 2022 one report said $22-million), and supposedly will be the largest dairy research center in the United States!

Redox Bio-Nutrients is a 30 years old company specializing in providing farmers with “with high-quality products that help growers efficiently and sustainably produce food.”

In May 2022, controversial (see below) dairy products maker Chobani donated $1-million to the CAFE.

According to a 2018 Farm Bureau report, even before the CAFE project began the Idaho Dairymen’s Association committed $2-million to the project, and Idaho state taxpayers were forced to fund at least $15-million!

In 2022, the CAFE Discovery Center Feasibility Study was published, revealing that one of the economic motivations for the larger CAFE Discovery Center is actually tourism, yet even with that it will not be a money maker, requiring yearly estimated funding to the tune of at least $260-thousand: “Further more, the pro forma assumes that all exhibit costs will be borne by sponsoring organizations in exchange for brand awareness. All this is feasible but will require a concerted capital campaign among Magic Valley area agri-businesses.”

But wait, there is more! The University of Idaho claims its new multi-million dollar dairy research center isn’t about solving any dairy shortages, but rather solving the ‘problem’ of a glut of dairy products! The federally mandated university says that most of the country’s dairy production is now concentrated in just two states; overpopulated California, and sparsely populated Idaho, and even so dairy output has skyrocketed with fewer cows: “The dairy industry currently produces 59 percent more milk with 64 percent fewer cows since 1944…. ….there has been a movement of dairy cows to the western United States with the greatest increases occurring in California and Idaho.”

In 1889, the University of Idaho was directly created by a federal ‘land-grant’, originally to act specifically as an agricultural research facility for the U.S., but in recent decades has become a ‘space-grant’ college as well.
