Despite threats of war with Pakistan, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, agreed to come up with a long term military pact.  They hope to come up with an agreement by the end of 2013, and the United Kingdom said they will support it.

In Kabul Province, at least 16 schoolgirls were poisoned.   They were treated at a hospital in Kabul city.  Afghan health officials are investigating, and have now admitted that some of the past school poisonings could have been due to environmental factors and not terrorism!

ISAF said: “Two International Security Assistance Force service members died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan today.”

In Logar Province, a U.S./NATO military convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber driving a car packed with explosives.  Mujahideen claim seven people killed, five wounded.  Mujahideen also claim three armored vehicles destroyed.

In Ghazni Province, police arrested a religious leader for ordering the whipping of a 15 years old girl.  Government officials say the girl was whipped for having an illicit relationship with a boy.  The boy was fined.

In Herat Province, people are protesting the continued arbitrary arresting of civilians by U.S. forces.  Protests were held in the city of Herat.

In Helmand Province, a 12 years old boy surrendered himself to police. He told police that at first he wanted to be a suicide bomber to avenge the death of his entire family at the hands of U.S./NATO. He said Mujahideen encouraged him and gave him a suicide vest bomb, but he chickened out.

In Kabul Province, a hand grenade was thrown into a market. At least six people wounded. Local police say it might be connected to the assassination of the owner of the market a month ago.

In Badakhshan Province, hundreds of people protested the U.S. anti-Islam movie, and French anti-Islam comics.  They demand the Afghan government end all ties to the United States.

Two U.S. Marines are to face criminal charges for urinating on the bodies of dead Afghans, according to the USMC.

The Afghan Interior Ministry says government forces have killed 39, wounded five and captured 72 Mujahideen in battles in the provinces of Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, Wardak, Ghazni, Ghor, Nimruz, Nangarhar, and Baghlan.  Only two government forces were killed, 12 wounded.

Mujahideen have released a video of reading of wills and an English explaination for the attack on Camp Bastion.  They are wearing current issue U.S. uniforms.

“On the 14th of the current month at around 10:00 pm at night, a successful operation was carried out by 15 courageous martyrdom seeking Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate on the second largest enemy base in southern Afghanistan (Camp Bastion/Leatherneck) which resulted in the death of 47 invaders while more than 34 others were wounded.  Besides the heavy human toll, more than 11 enemy Harrier Jets and helicopters were also eliminated as well as a several fuel reserves and aircraft hangers completely destroyed.”

This statement from Mujahideen comes at the same time ISAF restated that Mujahideen attacks are down from last year!

Government Incompetence & World War 3: More blowback, man who helped the West assasinate Gaddafi is tortured to death!

26 September 2012, almost one year after Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi was captured then tortured to death live via cell phone video, one of the men (supported by the United States and European countries) responsible has himself been tortured to death!

The man, known as Omran Sha’aban, was captured by Gaddafi loyalists in July 2012, along with 22 other people.  He was tortured, then shot in the stomach and neck (similar to what happened to Gaddafi).  He was then released still alive.  U.S. puppet leaders then sent him to a hospital in France, where he died.

This is proof the U.S. and Europe have not succeed in taking over Libya, the war is still on!

What Economic Recovery? Mitt Romney’s Staples to close 75 stores! Downsize 30 more!

26 September 2012, Staples, considered an example of success for vulture capitalist Bain Capital (Mitt Romney sat on Staples’ board of directors for more than a decade), is in big trouble.

On 25 September, officials with Staples announced they will close down 75 stores worldwide (at least 30 in the United States with 15 of those being accelerated closings, 45 stores and delivery businesses in Europe).  Staples will also downsize/relocate another 30 stores in the U.S.

Will the Pocatello, Idaho, Staples make the new closings hit list?

Common sense tells you that means more job losses, even though company officials are claiming that won’t happen.

Sales at Staples are crashing, especially for computers.  Company officials say they are shifting to more internet based business.

For the quarter ended July 2012 Staples reported an overall 6% decrease in sales, compared to the same time in 2011: “Our second quarter results fell short of our expectations due to softer than expected sales trends in North America and ongoing weakness in Europe and Australia.”-Ron Sargent, CEO

In North America sales decreased 3%, but around the world Staples saw a 10% decrease!

Staples has also revised its future sales outlook downward, and is expecting hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars in costs just to close down all those stores!

Mitt Romney, and others with Bain Capital, once called Staples their prime example of success.  Here’s just a sampling of other companies that Bain Capital is involved with: AMC Entertainment, Aspen Education Group, Brookstone, Burger King, Burlington Coat Factory, Clear Channel Communications, Domino’s Pizza, DoubleClick, Dunkin’ Donuts, D&M Holdings, Guitar Center, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Sealy, The Sports Authority, Toys “R” Us, Warner Music Group and The Weather Channel.

Once you start investigating all the companies that Bain Capital is involved with, or affiliated with, it becomes clear that it is unAmerican Corporate America’s vulture (venture) capitalist investment companies that are killing our economy.

And Mitt Romney says as President of the United States he’ll do for the country what he did for Corporate America!

25 September 2012, ongoing reports by the Associated Press (AP) proves that you can’t trust church leaders.

The AP report says that Reverend Carl Keyes got hundreds of millions of dollars in donations for charities related to 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and other disasters, as well as international charities (Urban Life Ministries, Aid for the World and many others that aren’t even registered with the proper authorities).

He used much of the money to fund his Manhattan church (eventually sold off to his benefit), pay his own personal debts, buy a $950,000 USD house in New Jersey, and even pay for his son’s college education.  He also failed to report donations used for personal expenses to state and federal tax collectors.

His own accountants resigned in protest.

Pacific Ring of Fire getting hammered? Why is FEMA running emergency preparedness PSA specifically about the 1989 Loma Prieta quake?

Recently I saw a emergency preparedness public service announcement (PSA) on TV, it was specifically warning about a major earthquake, using the 1989 Loma Prieta (San Francisco bay area) earthquake as an example.

The latest Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) PSA is part of a new series called The Day Before.  Past PSAs were more general in their warnings, why would FEMA now issue a PSA so specific?

Several reports have come out this year, from federal Department of Homeland Security agencies, as well as state agencies, which discuss major earthquakes and tsunamis, including the 1989 Loma Prieta quake.  They also reveal a concern about how such things are predicted. As a result many state and local governments (from Virginia to California) have been asked to better prepare for another similar quake.

A July 2012 report by the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center, called Spectral Damping Scaling Factors for Shallow Crustal Earthquakes in Active Tectonic Regions, basically says that current ground motion measurement formulas used to predict earthquakes are not accurate, specifically when it comes to shallow quakes (California has a lot of those, on a weekly basis).  Of course they’ve recommended a new formula.

In June 2012, a TsuInfo Alert (Tsunami Information Alert) was presented by Washington State Department of Natural Resources.  It concerns the Cascadia Subduction Zone, which affects the North American west coast from northern California up to British Columbia.

The report quotes one scientist who has concerns about how PSAs should be used to prepare the public: “There is no one flyer, no one commercial that’s
going to reach all of these audiences. They all have to be engaged individually, and they have to be approached with something that shows what’s in it for them.”-John Schelling, Washington State Emergency Management Division

The June TsuInfo Alert was packed with warnings about the underestimated effects that earthquakes have in generating tsunamis, not just on the west coast of North America, but including Hawaii and the Gulf of Mexico.  The overriding advice for the public is, as one official from New Zealand was quoted: “….don’t wait around, head for higher ground!”-Fred Mecoy, Emergency Preparedness

Officials from the U.S. state of Oregon suggested three basic rules for surviving after a major earthquake/tsunami: “…one can survive three minutes without oxygen, three hours without shelter, three days without water, and three weeks without food.” 

Don’t forget hypothermia (part of the “shelter” rule), especially if your dragged out to sea.  Many of the tsunami deaths in the March 2011 disasters in Japan were the result of hypothermia, not drowning!

In February I predicted 2012 would be a busy year for earthquakes, specifically around the Pacific Ring of Fire.   I count the number of 6.5 magnitude+ quakes, reported by the U.S. Geological Survey as Significant Earthquakes, and so far for 2012 there’ve been plenty.

I count at least 31 6.5+ quakes from 01 January 2012 to 05 September 2012, all  of them around the Pacific Ring of Fire!

I counted 13 Significant Earthquakes between 5 and 6.4 magnitude, all around the Pacific Ring of Fire (including some tectonic plates directly in contact with Pacific Ring plates).

When compared to 2011, 31 6.5+ quakes doesn’t seem out of the norm. I counted about 34 such quakes for 2011 (on the USGS Significant list). But remember, 2011 was the year of the great disasters in Japan. Seven of those are quakes and/or aftershocks of the 11 March 2011 Great East Japan disasters (and I only counted up till 05 September).

For Significant quakes between 5 and 6.4 magnitude, I counted only four.

For 2011 there was a total of 38 Significant Earthquakes, from 01 January to 05 September.  For 2012 there have been a total of 44 Significant Earthquakes, six more than 2011 during the same time period.

So, while the number of 6.5+ quakes for 2012 are slightly lower than 2011, the number of quakes between 5 and 6.4 are higher (USGS does state that their lists are to be considered “incomplete”).  The Gregorian/Western/Christian calender year of 2012 isn’t over, yet.

Fluoride Update, 24 September 2012: Portland officials ignore what the voters want! EPA and HHS admit too much fluoride is bad! Argentina says it causes diabetes! Japan says it causes cancer! China (and Harvard) says it reduces intelligence!

By the year 2014, Portland, Oregon, will cease being the last major U.S. city without fluoridated water. On 12 September 2012, and in a unanimous decision that seemed to go against voter sentiment, the Portland city council approved fluoridation of the water supply.

Supporters of the plan claim that residents of Portland has a higher number of dental problems than other parts of Oregon.  However, a state study proved the reverse!

Most all of Oregon’s water supply already has naturally occurring fluoride.

To top that, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), have come out and admitted that too much fluoride can be bad for you!  Not only that, past fluoridation levels in the United States were too high!!!

But guess what? Those admissions came out at the beginning of 2011!  Where was the main stream media coverage?

HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, said fluoride levels should be no more than 0.7 parts per million (ppm) per liter of water (this is the level the city of Portland, Oregon, says it will use).  Up ’till 2011 municipalities were being told to use as much as 1.2 ppm per liter!

“The new EPA assessments of fluoride were undertaken in response to findings of the National Academies of Science (NAS).  At EPA’s request, in 2006 NAS reviewed new data on fluoride and issued a report recommending that EPA update its health and exposure assessments to take into account bone and dental effects and to consider all sources of fluoride.”-joint EPA/HHS statement, 07 January 2011

Fluoride is claimed to protect your teeth, but according to HHS, too much fluoride actually does the reverse, causing tooth decay, as well as bone fractures,  and skeletal fluorosis.  Is this why the state study in Oregon showed higher dental problems in areas with fluoridated water?

But wait, there’s more!  The EPA actually said stop using sulfuryl fluoride. Sulfuryl fluoride is used as an insecticide (’cause it’s a fumigant neurotoxin), and cities have been using it to fluoridate their water!

Portland, Oregon, isn’t the only U.S. state obviously in the pockets of the fluoride industry.  Right now in Pinellas County, Florida, the issue of fluoridation has got a local dentist threatening to run for public office, to force fluoridation of the water.  One of his campaign billboards reads: “Want Fluoride…..?”

A in the pockets of the fluoride industry Florida newspaper (The Daytona Beach Journal) published an opinion piece on 20 September, applauding cities that add fluoride to their water.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is even giving out awards to cities, it’s called Water Fluoridation Quality Award.

But wait, there’s more!

A study in Argentina (done at the Rosario National University in Santa Fe, Rosario) concluded that ‘artificial’ fluoride use causes insulin resistance, leading to type 2 diabetes!  Gee, isn’t the United States suffering from a high rate of diabetes?

What’s really significant, relating to the new fluoride levels issued by HHS, is that the Argentine study shows that the onset of type 2 diabetes occurrs regardless of the amount of fluoride. Even at a fraction of a ppm, after 60 days insulin resistance is the result!

A study out of Japan (by the University of Tokyo) shows that fluoride use increases the rate of cancers of the “….oral cavity and pharynx, colon and rectum, hepato-biliary and urinary organs.”  Gee, doesn’t the United States have a problem with increased cancers?

The Japanese researchers looked at cancer rates in the United States in comparison with fluoridated water supplies, from 1978 to 1992.  They found that two thirds of the people with cancer lived in areas with lots of fluoridated water.  In the majority of the sites studied, they concluded that 64% of them had a direct connection between cancer and fluoride!

Another study from the Zhejiang Normal University in Jinhua, China, backs up a Harvard study released earlier this year.  Fluoride makes ‘mericans dumber than a stump!  Gee, isn’t the United States suffering from too much of that!!!

The Chinese study found that the higher the dose rate of fluoride, the dumber you get.  Back in July, 2012, Harvard University published the results of their study, it not good: “Fluoride readily crosses the placenta. Fluoride exposure to the developing brain, which is much more susceptible to injury caused by toxicants than is the mature brain, may possibly lead to damage of a permanent nature.”

But this info was known before these latest studies.  I’ve posted how a study in India blamed idiocy on fluoride, and that was based on naturally occurring fluoride.  But here’s what the National Research Council (NRC) stated in 2006, about ‘artificial’ fluoride: “It’s apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.”

In a secretly planned trip to Afghanistan, top Chinese leaders paid a visit to President Hamid Karzai.  The purpose is to increase business ties, and to create a Chinese military presence in Afghanistan (I guess Karzai has found a new puppet master): “It is in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples for China and Afghanistan to strengthen a strategic and cooperative partnership, which is also conducive to regional peace, stability and development.”-Zhou Yongkang, Chinese Communist Party

China already has copper and oil mining operations in Afghanistan.  Karzai and Yongkang signed a deal in which China will provide $700,000 USD worth of police equipment, and train up Afghan cops for the next three years.  This comes after the United States halted the training of Afghan cops because of the increased Green on Blue attacks.

In Helmand Province, at least seven people killed by U.S. ordered airstrikes.

In Nangarhar Province, a peaceful protest blocked the main highway for hours.  They are still protesting the U.S. made anti-Islam movie, and newly published anti-Islam comic in a French newspaper.

ISAF said: “An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan today.”

So far 258 U.S. personnel have died this year, 81 for all other allied occupying troops.

Karzai said he will continue to replace provincial governors, as part of his anti-corruption crusade.

The Afghan Interior Ministry has banned all Pakistani publications.

In Ghazni Province, Polish troop thought they were disarming a roadside bomb, it turned out to be a two day old infant.  They named her Pola.  They announced their find on 22 September, but said it actually took place on 19 September.  They will turn the infant over to the Afghan government, but the chances that an abandoned female baby will find a home in Afghanistan are slim to none.

(on 18 September a British Royal Army woman gave birth at Camp Bastion.  The woman swears she did not know she was pregnant.   It’s magic, Prince Harry Potter?)

The U.S. based International Justice Network accused Obama of running a torture camp at Bagram: “The administrative detention regime that the U.S. government now uses at Bagram is not only illegal under international law, but contravenes the Afghan Constitution in a number of respects…..We know that hundreds of people have been tortured in the U.S. prisons and we also know that some of the prisoners in Bagram have lost their lives as a result of tortures.”

In Herat Province, Mujahideen ambushed a U.S./NATO food and fuel convoy, destroying one fueler.

In Helmand Province, two Red Coats were killed, one at Camp Bastion the other at FOB Shawqat.  Interestingly the British Ministry of Defence is still trying to figure out if the deaths are the result of “hostile action”.

In Herat Province, a local government official was arrested and charged with being a spy for Iran.

In Uruzgan Province, five people were killed when they drove over a mine.

In Paktia Province, an illegal U.S. night raid resulted in a wedding being destroyed.  Witnesses say several people were arrested, and even the brides dowry was stolen by U.S. forces.  The raid is illegal because under the recent agreement Afghan forces must be involved.  Local Afghan government officials say they were never notified.

U.S. officials announced that the last of Obama’s 33,000 surge troops have withdrawn from Afghanistan.  There are still 68,000 U.S. personnel in Afghanistan.  In classic Bush Jr style, numb nuts Leon Panetta called it mission accomplished: “As we reflect on this moment, it is an opportunity to recognize that the surge accomplished its objectives of reversing Taliban momentum on the battlefield…….At the same time, we have struck enormous blows against al Qaeda’s leadership…”

23 September 2012, the past month has been a busy month of announcements from struggling computer maker, Hewlett Packard (HP).

At the end of August, HP reported a quarterly loss of $8.9 billion USD! (Dell computer maker also reported a big loss)  Then at the beginning of September, HP officials announced they will layoff 29,000 employees by 2014, that’s an increase of 2,000 from their layoff announcement in May of this year.

HP blamed the quarterly loss on down sales, and the cost of downsizing the company!

According to an Idaho Statesmen report, HP spent $50 million, over the past few years, downsizing its operations at the huge Boise HP campus.

The report also pointed out that HP is refusing to publish just how many people have lost their jobs at the Boise campus.  The Idaho Statesmen estimates it to be in the hundreds (at least 320).

HP also isn’t mentioning the fact that they’ve spent more than $40 billion on buying up worthless companies!

Just days ago a U.S. Senate investigation revealed that HP is one of thousands of unAmerican Corporations (including Microsoft) that are working hard to avoid paying taxes.

“The bottom line of our investigation is that some multinationals use our current tax system to engage in shams and gimmicks to avoid paying the taxes they owe.”-Carl Levin, Senator from Michigan

The Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations discovered that HP avoided paying $4.5 billion in taxes, from 2009 to 2011, by using complicated offshore loan deals  (you see it’s not just Mitt Romney, everyone in unAmerican Corporate America does it).

Of course HP officials deny it: “I can assure the committee that HP takes seriously its obligations to accurately follow accounting principle and to pay taxes that it owes.”-Lester D. Ezrati, HP

HP also has operations in Israel, and today it was announced that HP is in the running for a huge military contract worth half a billion USD!  (IBM, Dell and Lockheed Martin have also bid)

The contract will be for a new huge Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) computer server farm based in the Negev desert.  It will be the main server farm for electronic logistics, communication and military intelligence operations being run by other newly built bases in the Negev.

What Economic Recovery? Hoku pulls stocks from NASDAQ, deregisters with SEC.

Hawaii based Hoku Corporation is no longer selling stocks, through NASDAQ anyway.  At the beginning of September 2012, Hoku filed a Form 15 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), asking for their existing shares to be deregistered.

This means Hoku will not have to make any reports to the SEC for the next 90 days.

Back in July Hoku delisted from NASDAQ.  Hoku Corp. is blaming their fall on the crashing price of polysilicon.  Hoku Corp. shut down their Hoku Materials polysilicon operation in Idaho, back in May.

Hoku Corp. is looking for a buyer for its Hoku Solar division.

Hoku Corp. stocks are now being traded Over The Counter (OTC). As of  17 September 2012, they were selling for only .07 cents per share.
