New Cold War: Triumphs now in Belarus, deployed across Leningrad & Moscow Regions (and I don’t mean British motorcycles)!

Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports that S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft units are now in Belarus, as of 03FEB2022.  They were deployed from Russia’s Eastern Military District on 21JAN2022.

The S-400 Triumph units will be based in the Brest Region of Belarus.

On 02FEB2022, Russia’s Western Military District announced it began wargames using the S-400 systems. The ‘live-fire’ wargame is being held across the Leningrad Region of Russia, and includes other anti-aircraft systems like the S-300 Favorit, Pantsir-S, Tor and Buk-M3.

The S-400 Triumph is an anti-aircraft missile system comprised of many types of vehicles.

On 01FEB2022, Russia’s Western Military District completed an anti-aircraft wargame in the Moscow Region using the Tor system of the Guards Tank Army.  The wargame scenario was that U.S./NATO was trying to bomb an important target in the Moscow Region.

On 31JAN2022, Russia’s Western Military District reported that the Baltic Fleet had completed anti-aircraft training for its Bal system. The Bal system is specifically for defense of coastal areas.

According to a 12JAN2022 update, the USAF medics have been split into two teams; one providing urgent care for incoming Pandemic victims, the other providing monoclonal antibody treatment.

On 19JAN2022, administrators at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center announced that at least 4-hundred military medics from the ‘National Capital Regional Market’ will deploy to hospitals across the U.S.  Ironically, the Pandemic deployments of military personnel to private-sector civilian hospitals is causing a shortage within the military hospital system: “Recently, we have on standby 250 active duty personnel. This group of 250 a mix of those staged to deploy on a ‘prepare to deploy orders’ status, and those that have actually deployed. We are prepared to deploy more when called upon. All those deployments are COVID-19 related. On 27JAN2022, USA medics ended their Pandemic mission in Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn.

Despite units deploying to Kuwait in November 2021, and units deploying for Biden’s ‘European Deterrence Initiative’ at the beginning of January 2022, and despite just ending a Pandemic deployment to local hospitals (in December 2021), what’s left of the Oregon Army National Guard re-deployed to local hospitals for a second Pandemic Relief Mission!

Not only did the Oregon Army National Guard re-deploy for a second hospital Pandemic mission, the Oregon Air National Guard also deployed almost 2-hundred Airmen between the second and fourth weeks of January!  However, the Airmen will not be working in clinical jobs, instead they will be working jobs in administrative, janitorial, supply, patient transport, and Pandemic symptom screening.

PENNSYLVANIA: On 01FEB2022, 64 National Guard personnel got notified that they were activated for Pandemic deployment in private sector ‘long-term care facilities’.  The Pandemic mission is in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, and will last until mid-March.

VERMONT:

Despite having the highest vaccination rate in the U.S. (79.4% according to Our World in Data), on 26JAN2022 the state Department of Health ordered the Vermont National Guard to shift from mass-vaccination operations to support of hospital operations, due to hospitals being overwhelmed with people sickened by the Pandemic (again, despite the highest vaccination rate in the U.S.)!

WASHINGTON: On 21JAN2022, the gov’na ordered that 1-hundred National Guard personnel deploy to hospitals for duty in ‘nonmedical’ positions. Since March 2020, more than 2-thousand-5-hundred Evergreen State militia personnel have reported for Pandemic deployments!

New Cold War 2022: Russian T-72B3M live fire Crimea!

“The crews of T-72B3 tanks operating as part of armored units of the Southern Military District’s army corps have kicked off a firing exercise at the Angarsky training ground in the Republic of Crimea. The firing exercise is being held under a combat training plan of armored units of a coastal defense formation. Russian units began getting upgraded T-72B3s in 2017. They have more powerful motors, new targeting systems, rear facing camera, and ‘Relikt’ reactive armor. Russian Western Military District photo, September 2017.

TASS Russian News Agency reported that the current wargame in Crimea involves the “upgraded” T-72B3, but did not specifically say it was the robotized/autonomous upgrade.  Currently Russia is using the T-72B3-2016 version, aka T-72B3M, identified by its Relikt reactive armor.

Crimea is a peninsula jutting into the Black Sea, and for several hundred years has been a disputed territory.  Russia took control from the Ottoman Empire in the 1780s, following the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-74.  In 1954, during the time of the Soviet Union, it was decided to allow Ukraine to have control.  After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine leased Crimea’s ports to the Russian Military Maritime Fleet (navy).  During the 2013-14 Western backed (openly, by U.S. politicians who actually went to Ukraine to call for revolution, like John McCain in December 2013) Ukrainian insurgency, Russia decided to invade Crimea to protect what it believes are its naval ports.  Crimea is now part of the Russian Southern Military District.

In September 2020, the Southern Military District held a wargame called Kavkaz 2020.  It involved not only Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, Caspian Flotilla, the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also army units from Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar, and Pakistan.  As many as 80-thousand personnel participated.  One of the goals of Kavkaz-2020 was to apply lessons learned fighting insurgents in Syria.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), normally associated with natural disaster ‘recovery’, is now giving local law enforcers lessons on ‘domestic control’!

It is conducted by FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness “Training the Best for the Worst”, and includes the use of ‘mobile field force teams’, and ‘Field Force Operations’ which include the ‘legal’ application of crowd/riot control methods.

On 10JAN2022, the U.S. Army’s Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (AMIS) office announced ‘enhancements’ to simplify the logistical process of deployments, such as routing and tracking multiple convoys of the Army National Guard across highway systems. Essentially, the new computer upgrades are meant to prevent traffic jams when massive amounts of military vehicles are being deployed on public roads. AMIS administrators say the enhancements will save time and money.  They are planning a future ‘enhancement’ that will allow the military logistics programs to interface with commercial/civilian logistics programs. Supply shortages?

06JAN2022, Kentucky Army National Guard deployed 2-hundred of its personnel with the 1st Battalion, 149th Infantry Brigade, to Kosovo. The deployment ceremony was held in a local mega-church.

On 05JAN2022, it was revealed that the state of Washington’s Army National Guard would be deploying to Poland. At least 1-hundred members of the 2nd Battalion, 146th Field Artillery Regiment and 898th Brigade Engineer Battalion are now on Fort Bliss, Texas, for deployment training. This deployment comes just as another Washington Army National Guard unit returned from Ukraine.

On 02JAN2022, the Oregon Army National Guard’s 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry Regiment was deployed to what is being called the European Deterrence Initiative.  It should be noted that other Oregon Guard personnel deployed to the Middle East a couple months ago, and the Oregon Guard has also been deployed to local hospitals (yet again)!

Recently, several news reports told of the insulting sale of a Cold War relic, the USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 (aka CVA-63), for a mere one penny! However, the sale was quietly revealed in October 2021, to scrapper International Shipbreaking Ltd./EMR Brownsville, not just the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk, but also the John F. Kennedy. The October 2021 revelation also revealed that there were hopes to turn the two aircraft carriers into museum ships, those hopes killed-off by a mere one penny per ship sale! The one penny per ship sale was concluded on 29SEP2021.

The estimated cost to build the Kitty Hawk range from $200-million to $400-million, in 1961 dollars. It was also estimated that every time the steam powered ‘supercarrier’ was overhauled it cost taxpayers between $65-million and $100-million. Kitty Hawk also underwent an $800-million Service Life Extension Program from 1990 to 1993. And the yearly cost (according to 1996 data) to operate the aircraft carrier was $141-million.

The Supercarrier’s keel was laid in December 1956, launched in May 1960, officially commissioned in April 1961.

In the middle of November 1961, the brand new CVA-63 took part in its first wargame at Camp Pendleton, California. I edited silent USN films (recorded by personnel with the last names of Miller, and Cobbs) to show just the scenes of CVA-63, there weren’t many scenes of CVA-63:

From 05 June to 07 June 1963, President John F. Kennedy paid a visit to CVA-63, to observe the 32 vessel “fleet weapons demonstration” and give a speech influenced by the previous year’s Cuban Missile Crisis. Silent USN film by J. H. Sturdevant:

In May 2009, Kitty Hawk was ‘officially’ decommissioned and sent to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, State of Washington, for ‘mothballing’. Kitty Hawk was stricken from Naval records in October 2017.

In March 2021, while the world was grappling with the new Delta Pandemic fear mongering, quietly the Kitty Hawk was moved into Dry Dock 6, of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard-Intermediate Maintenance Facility, to prepare it for scrapping.

After completing its last RimPac (Rim of the Pacific Exercise) in 2008, steam powered Kitty Hawk sailed past its replacement in San Diego, the nuclear powered USS George Washington CV-73. USS George Washington then left to take Kitty Hawk’s place at the port of Yokosuka, Japan, making CV-73 the first ‘forward deployed’ nuclear powered U.S. aircraft carrier.
