So many cars showed up last year that they had to stage cars in the adjacent Memorial Park, this year.

Veterans Memorial Car Show: Unique Reflections

Veterans Memorial Car Show: Roaring ’20s survivor!

The Roaring ’20s was the decade of the 1920s, when money flowed like water due to massive debt financing in Western Europe and the United States, following the First World War.  It was that same global debt financing that led to The Great Depression (specifically because ‘major players’ could not pay their debts).

A surviving 1926 Ford Model T made an appearance at the Second Annual Veterans Memorial Building car show, in Pocatello, Idaho.

Here’s my video:

Despite the show being officially only four hours long, several cars drove-in from Blackfoot and Idaho Falls, at least one driving from as far as Burley (79 HWY miles one way)!

So many cars showed up at the Inaugural Veterans Memorial Building car show, last year, that the Bannock County Veterans Memorial Association had to ask the City of Pocatello if they could use the adjacent Memorial Park to stage vehicles, this year.

Pine Ridge Mall: Inaugural Summer AutoFest

Summer AutoFest: The secret of the 1936 Auburn, sshhh.

80%, maybe 90% of the car is meant to be original, it certainly looks the part of a Great Depression era car that was the toy of the lucky 1% of the times.

Here’s my video, revealing the secret:

Phil Meador inaugural Summer AutoFest, with dozens of show quality vehicles inside the mall, and more vehicles outside the mall. 24th through 25th August 2024, at the Pine Ridge Mall in Chubbuck, Idaho.

The event was organized by the Pocatello Car Club, with assistance from the Idaho Classic and Modern Muscle car club.

Professional car painting was available:

The show actually started Friday evening. It took at least two hours to stage the vehicles inside the mall, and more would show up on Saturday and Sunday.  Here’s a short example, part-1:

Part-2, things started getting nit-picky:

Outside there were plenty of food trucks.

And there were other vendors.

There were plenty of cars outside, but it felt like some vehicle owners would leave not long after arriving:

While it took about two hours to stage the vehicles, it took less than an hour to make their escape. Part-1 of the shortened video:

In 1970 (Cold War), the first in the U.S. fully enclosed colligate sports arena opened; the ASISU (Associated Students of Idaho State University) Minidome.  In 1988 (Cold War), the name was changed to Holt Arena to honor the athletic director who pushed for the creation of the Minidome.  In January 2024 the name was changed, again, to ICCU (Idaho Central Credit Union) Dome, due to the arena’s recent refreshment being funded mostly by the financial institution.

Holt Arena 2024: Hot Rods ‘Attitude check!’

I went through U.S. Army basic training in 1982 (Fort ‘Lost-in-the-Woods’, Missouri), and at the end of a rough day the Drill Sergeants would yell “Attitude check!”, and we would always respond “Fuck it!”.  In many ways those were better days than today.

On the 15th-16th of March 2024, Idaho State University (ISU)-College of Technology Automotive Program held its ‘Chrome in the Dome’ car show.  This is just a couple of the many Hot-Rods in the show.
