Red Coat, I mean, Royal Army Brigadier General Leigh Tingey was deputy commander of the 1st Armored Division, on Fort Bliss, Texas, from August 2018 to July 2020. But wait, there is more, Tingley was the second such Red Coat to serve as deputy commander of U.S. forces within the United States! According to a 1st Armored Division 28JUL2020 press release, by Jean S. Han, as of July 2020 at least 2-thousand-5-hundred Red Coats, and their families, are serving on U.S. military bases in 28 states!

USCG District 8 reports they captured a total of two boats with 600 pounds of illegally fished red snapper on 09DEC2022. Eight Mexicans were also captured.

Apparently 29DEC2022 was a busy day for the USCG, 22 illegal fishermen from Mexico were captured, along with 590 pounds of red snapper. The fishermen were handed over to Customs and Border Protection.

Hunger Games: University offers free food preservation tips, for a price!

Anybody who spends some time on social media knows there are plenty of free advice/video posts about how to preserve food at home, yet the University of Idaho apparently thinks they can make money off food preservation classes.

The University of Idaho is based in northern Idaho’s Moscow (don’t confuse with Idaho State University based in Pocatello), but is offering home-food-preservation classes in eastern Idaho’s City of Rigby, and southeast Idaho’s City of Pocatello, for a price!

The cost to attend the entire food preservation series of classes is $75, or, if you want just one or two classes the price is $15 per class. There are five classes, registration must be done before 24FEB2023. A quick scan of the classes revealed to me that, yes, you can find these basic food preservation ideas online and for free!

And if you live in Napoleon Dynamite country, the U of I offers an online Preserve@Home course in Franklin County, for $35 bucks beginning 19JAN2023! Yes, you can find the info free, elsewhere!

If you don’t like social media, then you can always checkout the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension’s National Center for Home Food Preservation, yes it is free! The state and federal taxpayer funded National Center for Home Food Preservation has instructions for canning, drying, freezing, smoking/curing, fermenting, pickling, jams/jellys, and storage (whew)!

For the second time, the U.S. Surface Transportation Board (STB) ordered railroad logistics company Union Pacific (UP) to deliver feed to the Foster Farms operations in Livingston, California. Millions of chickens and hundreds of cattle are in danger of starving to death, due to ongoing logistics problems with deliveries of feed!

The first time UP was ordered to make the deliveries it blamed lack of employees, now it blames climate change! UP claims snowy weather, in December 2022, disrupted deliveries to 20 western states.

This latest ‘order’ by the STB is specifically about deliveries to the industrial food producer Foster Farms, which lodged a complaint with the STB. Foster Farms claims it is being forced to buy much more expensive feed in the meantime. The feed is more expensive because it is being hauled in by tractor-trailers, of course this means Foster Farms will pass on the extra cost to the consumers.

The delivery problems involving UP are not new, the STB got many similar complaints about UP delivery problems in Spring 2022.

2022: New York buries more Vets than any other state, again?

By the end of Gregorian calendar year 2022, it was estimated that New York National Guard’s Honor Guard personnel conducted at least 9-thousand-825 veteran funerals in The Empire State. That is not the record, the record was set in 2021 with 10-thousand-431 veteran funerals! And remember, not all families of veterans use the optional Honor Guard funeral service.

To put that in perspective, the United States (U.S.) Department of Veterans Affairs says that New York’s veteran population is fifth largest in the nation. Fifth largest veteran population, but still leading the nation in veteran funerals.

Ronald Thomas, with Veterans Affairs (VA), reported that for the fiscal year (which begins and ends at the end of September) there were 105-thousand-241 Army National Guard Honor Guard conducted funerals across the U.S. These numbers do not represent Active Duty Honor Guard funerals!

California came in second place with 6-thousand-346 National Guard Honor Guard conducted veteran funerals.

The Air National Guard Honor Guard covers funerals for Air National Guard and Air Force veterans, and the Army National Guard Honor Guard covers the Army National Guard and Regular Army, in each U.S. state.

The New York Air National Guard has at least 20 full-time Honor Guard Airman, and 68 on standby.

According to Sergeant First Class (SFC) Charles Gabriel the Third, the New York Army National Guard has 39 Soldiers on full-time Honor Guard duty, and another 60 Honor Guard Soldiers on standby. SFC Gabriel admits he does not know why New York has more veteran funerals than states with larger veteran populations, but also admits that the New York Army Guard also ‘sells itself’ to local funeral directors who help families arrange for military funerals: “We attend a conference with them every year, and put a good pitch out. I am working on making that contact system smoother for them to reach us.”

This leads to an obvious question; who is paying for state National Guard Honor Guard funeral services? It varies state by states. Most states used state-level taxpayer funding augmented with federal taxpayer funding. A few states rely 100% on federal funding. Several states allow private veteran organizations to act as Honor Guards, which are paid/reimbursed with state funding, the amount varies from state to state. Other states allow private donations to augment state/federal Honor Guard funding.

On 28NOV2022, as many as 1-hundred Greek vendors attended the Thessaloniki Vendor Outreach Fair, put-on by the United States Army, and the U.S. Consulate General, and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was a workshop to teach local Greek businesses how to get their share of the U.S. taxpayer funded military-civilian contracting system.

The U.S. Army’s 266th Finance Support Center admitted that already $2-billion worth of contracts have been issued to Greek contractors since the Ukraine Crisis started, in 2014 (remember, the U.S./NATO instigated coup in Ukraine where U.S. politicians, both left & right, actually went to Ukraine and egged-on the coup leaders)!

Since that 2014 coup, U.S. led NATO launched Operation Atlantic Resolve, ostensibly to counter ‘Russian aggression’. NATO-Greece became a major port of disembarkation for the U.S.-NATO forces assigned to Atlantic Resolve: “We’ve been doing this at Alexandroupoli for years now. This meeting was helpful… because they received all the guidance they need to get registered and examine the platforms the U.S. government uses. This is always good, to get local business involved with the military operation. We have the approval of the community because they gain something. The U.S. Army revealed that troop and material shipments through Greece will only increase, and that more permanent operations are planned, meaning even more taxpayer funded business for Greek vendors: “The continued increase of U.S. and NATO presence at Alexandroupoli, has leveraged positive impacts to the community, bolstering the economy to include jobs. U.S. military operations have supported the continued growth of the city to become a critical strategic node for transport and military logistics.”-Andre Cameron, director of Transportation Corps Detachment, Eastern Mediterranean-Greece, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command

About 25 administrative soldiers (Financial Management Technicians) are deploying in 2023 for Operation Inherent Resolve, the apparently never ending war against so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (and other places).

Don’t forget, another North Carolina Army National Guard unit, the 258th Engineer Utilities Detachment, held a deployment party in November, they are also deploying in 2023, not to the Middle East but to the African continent.

The North Carolina National Guard, in 2022, deployed multiple units for federal missions in Europe, The Middle East, and Antarctica, and 560 Soldiers and Airmen spent a total of 9-thousand-355 days on State Active Duty.

The USCG District 7 reported that on 01DEC2022, they returned 118 illegals to their home country of Cuba. The illegals had been captured during six interceptions during the month of November.

The USCG District 7 reported that, on 30NOV2022, 192 illegals were sent back to their home country of Cuba. The USCG reported that the 192 illegals had been captured in 13 separate incidents during November.
