White Horse, Black Horse, Red Horse & Political Hypocrisy: Obama signs record military spending bill, then says spending needs to be cut. What he means is to cut spending on troops, increase spending on weapons. 80,000 soldiers will lose their jobs. More Wars to follow

I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a day’s wages, and three quarts of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!”

Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other.

On January 1, U.S. President Barack Obama signs the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.  That means at least $662 billion taxpayer dollars will be spent on the Department of Defense.

On January 5, Obama hypocritically states that defense spending must be cut! He blames it on “…the Budget Control Act passed by Congress last year.”

But here’s the thing, Obama is not really talking about overall defense spending cuts, he’s talking about shifting defense spending, and targeted cuts.  U.S. troops could lose out on pay and benefits, in order to increase spending on high tech weapons systems.  They’re already losing their jobs.

“As we reduce the overall defense budget, we will protect and in some cases increase our investments in special operation forces in new technologies, like…. unmanned systems, in space and in particular in cyberspace.”-Leon Panetta, Defense Secretary

Obama and company said the cuts would not affect pay and benefits for troops and veterans, but that’s already happened.  There are many cases across the country where veterans have been cut off because of budget problems.

Analysts say there’s no way to keep spending on high tech weapons without affecting troop pay/benefits, or even without reducing the number of military personnel (already in 2011 the U.S. Army laid off 50,000 personnel).

According to a report by Military.com Leon Panetta has asked the U.S. Army to cut another 80,000 troops in 2012!

That’s fine if your not going to fight wars anymore, but Obama and company flat lied about that.  Obama said “Yes, the tide of war is receding…”   Well, if the tide of war is receding then why spend more money on more weapons?  Because the tide of war is not receding, at least in the eyes of our leaders.  Obama even says so: “As I made clear in Australia, we will be strengthening our presence in the Asia Pacific, and budget reductions will not come at the expense of that critical region.  We’re going to continue investing in our critical partnerships and alliances, including NATO, which has demonstrated time and again, most recently in Libya, that it’s a force multiplier.  We will stay vigilant, especially in the Middle East.”

What Obama is saying is that the he expects more war in the Middle East, and a new front to open in Asia!  Defense Secretary Panetta backs that up: “…as we move towards this new joint force, we are also rebalancing our global posture and presence, emphasizing the Pacific and the Middle East — these are the areas where we see the greatest challenges for the future. The U.S. military will increase its institutional weight and focus on enhanced presence, power projection, and deterrence in Asia-Pacific. This region is growing in importance to the future of the United States economy and our national security.

Government & Corporate Incompetence: Ohio suffering mass earthquakes, officials blame Fracking. Not the first time; Arkansas blamed Fracking on increased quakes back in July

“The earthquakes will trickle on as a kind of a cascading process once you’ve caused them to occur. This one year of pumping is a pulse that has been pushed into the ground, and it’s going to be spreading out for at least a year.”-John Armbruster, Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

On New Year’s Eve, Ohio had a 4.0 quake.  It’s part of many quakes the state has suffered since March 2011.  Now state lawmakers are banning the energy industry’s practice of Fracking.

Energy companies inject chemically heavy water, under extreme pressures, deep into the ground.  It releases natural gas from shale. The gas is used mainly for the oil industry’s hydrogen cracking process, which makes fuels cleaner burning.

For a long time it’s been claimed that fracking pollutes underground water sources, but the industry has successfully fought off such claims.  Another claim is that it could cause earthquakes.

Now, seismologists with the U.S. Geological Survey have testified to Ohio officials that the state’s unusual quake activity is directly related to fracking wastewater injection.

In July, the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission banned  fracking wastewater injection, because of increased earthquake activity.

Energy companies doing the fracking are taking their wastewater and injecting it deep into underground sand deposits, to get rid of it.  Scientists say the problem is that the companies have overshot the underground sand beds, and are basically pressurizing fault lines.

World War 3: U.S. Bagram airbase hit by missile attack, excuse for war with Iran?

Taliban (Mujahideen) confirm missile attacks on Bagram.  The Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan states that Bagram air base has been attacked with missiles at least three times in the past 24 hours.  At least four missiles (unguided rockets?), from overnight attacks, landed within the base compound.  They claim attacks are continuing.

Breaking news reports out of Afghanistan say the Taliban hit the U.S. controlled Bagram air base with at least nine missiles.  Some reports say the attacks took place on New Year’s Eve (western Gregorian calender), as U.S. personnel were celebrating the coming New Year.

Some Afghan government officials say their sources confirm the attacks, but there are no casualties reported.

There’s been no clarification if the attacks were done with guided missiles, or unguided rockets.  Some Taliban sources say they were long range missiles.

Bagram is located in Parwan (aka Parvan) Province, in northwestern Afghanistan.  Ever since the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, Bagram has been the target of many attacks.

Reports say there are many casualties from the latest attacks.  Already there is internet chatter that this might be used by the United States to launch an all out war with Iran.  The U.S. government has ignorantly claimed that the Taliban are linked to Iran (it’s ignorant because the Taliban and the Iranian’s are mortal enemies). Also, all U.S. military bases in the Middle East are within range of Iran’s growing missile systems.

Also, on December 27, 2011, Taliban claimed they launched two missiles at Bagram, with no casualties effected.

Government Incompetence or Coverup: Birds fall dead from the sky, for the second New Year’s Eve in a row, officials still blame fireworks

“If it is fireworks, why was last year the first year it has ever happened? It is something else.”-@Shebalynnx

For the second New Year’s Eve in a row, blackbirds have fallen dead from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas.

Last year the mass death of birds were blamed on fireworks.  But this year the local police banned fireworks use on New Year’s Eve, and yet they’re still blaming fireworks for the new deaths.

Here’s the problem with blaming fireworks: Much more fireworks are used around July 4, than on New Year’s Eve, yet no mass die off of birds around July 4???  Also, as one commenter pointed out, why hasn’t it happened more often?

One commenter on a local Arkansas news site said his magnetic compass went crazy New Year’s Eve: “fire works going off ALL night and all day – no problems! There were more 500 LIVE ones in our yard this morning. BUT when the birds started dying, I had my compass out – it went crazy – spinning and unable to find north – it did this at two different times tonight – so fireworks messed up the compass??? It is not the fireworks!”-Al

There are also reports that local TV weather personnel said weather radar returns showed a large mass over Beebe, Arkansas, about the time the birds fell out of the sky.

H5N1 kills Chinese bus driver, officials trying to find out how he got infected

Just a week after Hong Kong officials culled more than 17,000 poultry, a bus driver in China has died from H5N1 (bird flu).

The killing of tens of thousands of birds in Hong Kong was prompted after just one chicken died from H5N1. Now Hong Kong officials say a second bird has died from H5N1.

During that same week, a bus driver in China became ill and was put in the hospital for possible pneumonia.  Tests showed he had H5N1.  The 39 year old man died, December 31, 2011.

Officials in China are concerned because the man had no contact with birds.  No one else, who’s been in contact with the man, has developed symptoms.  The World Health Organization says H5N1 has a 60% mortality rate among humans (and they’re not talking about the genetically modified H5N1 that your taxpayer dollars were spent on developing).

Corporate Incompetence: Voting with your wallet works; Verizon reverses $2 fee, GoDaddy does one eighty on SOPA

A day after announcing a $2 one time bill payment credit/debit card fee, Verizon reversed course after being flooded with thousands of complaints, and threats to cancel service.

However, Verizon officials are keeping such a fee in mind for the future: “At Verizon, we take great care to listen to our customers. Based on their input, we believe the best path forward is to encourage customers to take advantage of the best and most efficient options, eliminating the need to institute the fee at this time.”– Dan Mead, Verizon CEO

GoDaddy has been losing domain names ever since it voiced support for SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).  According to one source, 32,000 websites, in 36 hours, were transferred away from GoDaddy’s service. Keep in mind GoDaddy lost thousands of domain names even after they publicly reversed course, now officially opposing SOPA!

One reason that GoDaddy is still losing customers is because it’s involved in rogue website/domain lawsuits, in which federal courts have been using GoDaddy to hold web sites that’re being challenged in court.  Most of those sites are being transferred, by court order, from Google and Yahoo to GoDaddy.  In many of these cases the accused never have their day in U.S. courts because they live in another country.

The lesson is that consumers, like voters, must never let their guard down.  Corporate America is not working for your best interest, they’re working for their best interest.

Corporate Incompetence: 20 cases of cancer linked to breast implants, involving more countries, former company president gone missing now wanted by police, insurance companies suing

“We are faced with a health crisis linked to a scam. The whole profession is aware of it.”-Laurent Lantieri, plastic surgeon

The case of Poly Implant Prosthesis (PIP) is spreading to other countries, and several cancer cases could now be linked, and insurance companies are now suing.

More than 300,000 women, in 65 countries including France, Italy, Spain, U.K., Venezuela, Brazil, Germany and Ukraine could be affected by the PIP silicon breasts.  At least 1000 women in France had their implants rupture.

PIP filed for bankruptcy after they were sued in British court, and lost.  Then it was revealed they were using industrial silicon, instead of medical grade silicon, in their breast implants.  But now important company documents, along with the company’s founder, Jean-Claude Mas, have gone missing and Interpol is looking for them.

In 2010, at least one case of a woman who died from cancer, was being investigated as murder because of her PIP implants.  On December 30, 2011, the French government revealed that at least 20 cases of cancer can be directly linked to PIP: “…there were three cases of lymphoma, 15 cases of breast adenocarcinoma, the most common form of breast cancer, one case of adenocarcinoma of the lung, and one case of acute myeloid leukemia.”-French Health Products Safety Agency

The government of Italy has ordered doctors and hospitals to report women who have PIP made implants.  Brazil and the United Kingdom are telling women with PIP implants to get checked up right away.  Brazil has banned the use of PIP products. France’s National Health Insurance Fund is now suing.  Venezuela’s government says it will pay for removing PIP implants.  In 2000, the U.S. FDA banned PIP products from the being used in the United States.

In a perverted twist, Jean-Claude Mas’s son and daughter have filed papers to create a new silicon implant company, and they list their father as an official consultant.  I wonder if Interpol knows.  The new company is scheduled to open in June 2012.

What Economic Recovery? More trouble for Idaho’s Hoku polysilicon factory, looks more and more like the deal is off!

“If service is terminated, these high value systems may freeze, causing irreparable and material damage to Hoku’s plant assets. Any damage would need to be repaired, at additional cost, prior to continuing with the commissioning and operation of the plant.”-Hoku Corporation complaint to Idaho Public Utilities Commision

“The fact of the matter is, Hoku has missed a payment it owes to Idaho Power and has failed to provide….any assurance that such a payment will be forthcoming. Idaho Power has concerns that if the commission allows the Hoku complaint to run the usual course….Hoku could potentially become millions of dollars delinquent in amounts it owes.”-Idaho Power response

Pocatello, Idaho’s, polysilcon factory, run by Hoku Materials (which is a subsidiary of Hoku Corporation, which is 60% owned by China’s Tianwei New Energy Holdings Company Limited) has run into trouble with Idaho Power, again.

Hoku failed to pay its electric bill, and Idaho Power says it will discontinue service.  Hoku was served with the disconnect notice on December 22.  This is not the first time Hoku has had trouble with their electric bill.

Earlier this month, Chinese media reported that Hoku had started operations, but now it’s clear that was just wishful thinking by Tianwei New Energy Holdings Company Limited.  The Chinese claim was based on Hoku CEO Scott Paul saying things were ready to go back on November 21.

This just adds to the ever growing problems with Hoku:  Their CFO resigned, they lost nearly $8 million in their last reporting quarter, they had to sell majority shares to Chinese companies (as well as take Chinese loans) to raise enough money to finish construction of their factory, and the ongoing tit for tat trade war between the U.S. and China (involving U.S. made polysilicon and Chinese made photo voltaic products) could mean curtains for a company that has hundreds of people in the Chubbuck/Pocatello area hoping to get a job with Hoku.

GLOBAL ECONOMIC WAR: IDAHO POLYSILCON PRODUCER, HOKU, QUIETLY STARTS OPERATIONS,  LOSES MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AGAIN

Corporate Incompetence: Verizon will charge you $2 extra when you pay your wireless bill, blame the too big to fail banks

Beginning January 15, 2012, Verizon will charge you and extra $2 when you pay your wireless bill over the phone or online using a debit or credit card.

You can avoid the charge by using an e-check, or signing up for AutoPay.

Verizon officials say the charge is to make up for what they are charged by the credit and debit card companies (that’s right, businesses get charged fees every time you use a credit or debit card).

Military Incompetence: Russian Delta class Nuclear submarine on fire in Arctic

The Russian Emergency Ministry is reporting that a K-84 type nuclear powered submarine is on fire, after wooden scaffolding around the sub caught fire.

The Delta class sub is in a shipyard in the Murmansk region.  Crews are currently trying to put out the fire.  The Emergency Ministry says radiation levels are normal, the fire is external and so far is not affecting the reactor inside the sub.
