Animal Activists warn; ’12 Monkeys’ is happening now!

“…melioidosis is considered a high-priority potential biological threat agent; its close relative Burkholderia mallei was used as a bioweapon during World War I.  Research on this pathogen requires high-containment laboratories (biosafety level 3, or BSL-3). There is no vaccine, and treatment with antibiotics is lengthy and difficult because of the bacterium’s inherent antibiotic resistance—it is ‘impervious to all but a few antibiotics.'”Melioidosis Modeling: Research to Support Countermeasures for a Tricky Pathogen, U.S. Food and Drug Administration

The bacteria is called Burkholderia Pseudomallei, it causes something called Melioidosis (aka Whitmore’s Disease) in both animals and humans.  Up until now, it was mainly found in northern Australia and South East Asia.

The American Association for Laboratory Animal Science, along with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), are claiming that six cases have popped-up in the United States as a result of monkeys being imported from the South East Asian country of Cambodia: “…animals infected with B. pseudomallei may appear healthy for months to years before showing signs of illness, during which time they can shed the organism into the environment. Melioidosis presents diagnostic challenges because it causes nonspecific clinical signs, serologic screening can produce unreliable results, and culture isolates are often misidentified on rapid commercial testing systems. Here, we present a case of melioidosis in a cynomolgus macaque (Macaca fascicularis) that developed a subcutaneous abscess after importation from Cambodia to the United States.”Melioidosis in Cynomolgus Macaques ( Macaca Fascicularis ) Imported to the United States from Cambodia

The monkeys, specifically Macaques, have been imported since 2018 (what timing).  On 26OCT2021, the CDC confirmed that Burkholderia Pseudomallei was found in an aromatherapy spray that was sold across several U.S. states, and connected to cases of human Melioidosis in Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota and Texas.

Burkholderia Pseudomallei ( aka B-Pseudomallei, or Pseudomonas Pseudomallei) is a bacteria found in soil or water.  Only in 2006 did scientist begin to understand the virulence of the Melioidosis disease it causes:  “…and the study of host–pathogen interactions has shed some light on pathogenic mechanisms, but many key questions await investigation…”-Melioidosis: insights into the pathogenicity of Burkholderia pseudomallei

Pale Green Horse & Medical Incompetence: Mystery illness in Cambodia & Vietnam solved?

11 July 2012, reports out of Cambodia say international health experts have solved the mystery illness that’s killed more than 60 children.

The UN’s World Health Organization, and Cambodian health officials, concluded that Mother Earth is ganging up on children.  Kids are being hit by multiple diseases at the same time, such as enterovirus 71 (EV-71) and streptococcus suis.

In the case of EV-71 the mystery continues: “As far as I’m aware, EV-71 was not identified as a virus in Cambodia before.”-Nima Asgari, UN WHO

To make matters worse, the children were given inappropriate amounts of steroids, which can destroy your immune system.  Steroids also interferes with symptoms of diseases, making it harder for doctors to figure out what’s going on.

Health officials are also blaming EV-71, and streptococcus suis, for what’s been happening in Vietnam.  The strange thing is that most cases in Vietnam are occurring in areas that have recently (past couple of years) begun using Kanup/Roundup. These areas also have no experience with prior use of herbicides.

PALE GREEN HORSE & H5N1: KOREA HIT BY BIRD FLU, WILD BIRDS DIE IN HONG KONG, MORE CASES IN VIETNAM, MORE HUMAN DEATHS IN INDONESIA, CAN BE TRANSMITTED THROUGH YOUR EYE

Pale Green Horse: H5N1 first 2012 deaths in Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia

I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him.  They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam are reporting the first human deaths due to H5N1, for 2012.  Unlike the Chinese cases, in these cases the people were in contact with sick birds.

As I wrote before, a two year old in Cambodia got sick with H5N1, he died last week.

Vietnam reported the death of an 18 year old man, who worked on a duck farm.  But the government of Vietnam is now trying to downplay it by issuing official reports saying their anti-Avian Flu program is a success.  Vietnam recently killed off thousands of poultry after finding some infected with H5N1.  Vietnamese officials say the family of the man who died is now under health watch.

Indonesia reports two deaths, and they might be human to human infections.  A 23 year old man, and his five year old relative, died from H5N1.  They lived with an extended family on a poultry farm.

Including the deaths in China, between December 31, 2011, and January 23, 2012, six people have died from H5N1.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Health confirmed that a 2 year old boy has H5N1 (aka Bird Flu).  The boy became sick on January 3 with fever, cough, runny nose and vomiting.  He was transferred to a hospital on January 9, and is in critical condition.

Officials say the boy had been in contact with sick, or dead, birds before falling ill.  H5N1 seems to be more deadly in Cambodia.  So far 19 people have become infected since the H5N1 outbreak a few years ago.  16, of those 19 infected, died.

Pale Green Horse: Dengue Fever deaths skyrocket in 2011, some areas see 89% increase, some countries launching programs on the level of ‘polio eradication campaigns’, catching it more than once can kill you

I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him.  They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Health says at least 72 Cambodian children died from dengue fever in 2011, an increase of 89%, compared to 2010.  Total number of dengue cases in Cambodia were up 26% in 2011 (15,805 cases that were reported to government officials).

“The disease broke out in a large scale every three to five years and the year 2011 was the large scale breakout, that’s why the cases were on the rise and the deaths were almost double.”-Ngan Chantha, Cambodia’s Ministry of Health

Cambodia spent U.S.$7 million fighting dengue in 2011.

Pakistan was hit hard by dengue in 2011 (never mind attacks from the Pakistani Taliban and the ungrateful government of the United States!).  By October 2011, more than 6,000 Pakistanis got sick, and at least 253 died.

The cold winter is not having any affect on the mosquitoes in Pakistan.  Contrary to the hopes of officials, two people died on December 31, after being bit by mosquitoes in freezing temperatures.

Pakistan’s Health Secretary, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, has ordered a mosquito spraying offensive, that must be completed before February 10, 2012.

One Pakistani doctor said they are launching an anti-dengue campaign “on the pattern of the polio campaign”.  Health officials will go door to door explaining to people how to prevent dengue by fighting mosquitoes.  They also hope to have a computer system in place that will let hospitals and clinics share information about incoming dengue cases.

In Borneo, officials are so concerned about dengue for 2012 that dengue awareness and prevention classes are now part of grade school education.

In Sri Lanka, officials reported a jump in dengue cases in December 2011;  290 cases in December, 170 in November.  One official said it doesn’t take much water for the dengue carrying mosquitoes to breed: “…this mosquito can breed in one teaspoonful of water!”-Pradeep Kariyawasam, Chief Medical Officer of the Colombo Municipal Council

On the island of Fiji (east of New Zealand), officials are now concerned about the general public, because of an outbreak of dengue in their prisons: “The symptoms of dengue fever are similar to those of normal flu but with joint pains and high fever. But people should not stay home and instead seek immediate medical attention.”-Peni Namotu, Fiji Health Ministry

Closer to the United States, Mexico reported great advances in their fight against dengue, which included testing of vaccines.  In several Mexican states, cases of dengue had dropped by as much as 80%, compared to 2010.

But fighting dengue is not that easy. In December, the University of California at Berkeley released the results of their study, which showed that surviving an initial case of dengue fever does not mean your body can survive a second infection.

The problem is that there are four major types of dengue viruses, and your body’s immune system might be lulled into a false sense of security: “With the second infection, the antibodies sort of recognize the new type of viruses, but not well enough to clear them from the system.  Instead of neutralizing the viruses, the antibodies bind to them in a way that actually helps them invade the immune system’s other cells and spread.”-Molly OhAinle, UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health.

The results of the study were published in the December 21 issue of Science Translational Medicine.

After more than a year, and after a credit downgrade, Belgium will finally create a government

Since March 2010 Belgium has been without an official government.  The problem arose when Dutch speaking Belgians (Flemish) took control in elections, then suggested splitting the country into two halves; one side for French speakers (francophones), the other side for Dutch speakers.

The 2010 elections came about after the Belgian King dissolved the previous government, due to scandal.

Now, and possibly due to the fact that their credit rating just got dropped, six major political groups have agreed on a new government.  They hope to form the government by next week.  Up until the 2010 elections, Belgium was considered a stable European country.

Belgium isn’t the only country that’s gone a long time without a government. Cambodia has the record of 353 days without a government, from 2003 to 2004.

Should we fear a government shut down? Ask the Belgians, they’ve been without a government for almost a year

Who cares if our government shuts down?

I, and many other citizens of the United States, get absolutely nothing from the Federal government. I didn’t even get a tax refund this year, or last year, or the year before that. I didn’t even get one of those extra checks from the IRS under the Bush Jr administration. I served in the military, I worked for government contractors, but I have no retirement (forget about SS).

I have not been able to find steady work for more than two years now. Yet, because of rules changes (and the fact that all my kids are adults now) I don’t qualify for Food Stamps, or AFDC.

I wasn’t even able to get Medicaid for my son when he had a hemorrhagic stroke at the age of 18! Now we’re dealing with $150,000+ in medical bills (on top of other debts, and no I don’t have $2,000 to hire a bankruptcy attorney, we don’t have free bankruptcy programs in our state [at least where we live], the only thing we can get is a waiver of Federal court fees). What were all my Federal taxes for, damn it?!

I live in a state that gets next to squat from the Federal government. Yeah, you people on the East (like New York City [get a rope]) and West (mainly California) coasts suck up most of the Federal tax moneys we all pay. California has redundant State social services programs that mirror and supplement the Federal programs. My state doesn’t, so no tears for you California! Any Federal government shut down will be barely noticed where I live.

The world has plenty of examples of countries doing fine without a government. As of March 30, 2011, Belgium had gone 290 days without any government. In fact it’s possible Belgium will now split into two countries.

But Belgium isn’t the only country that’s gone a long time without a government. Cambodia has the record of 353 days without a government, from 2003 to 2004.

So bring on a Federal shut down, it’ll save a lot of tax payer money.
