Cold War & Beyond: F-15A Pole Dancer, or whatever happened to 72-0113?

Eagles like to nest at the top of trees. 14AUG1986.

Rome Air Development Center-Newport Measurement Facility (New York), aka USAF Super Lab, aka Newport Research Site-Griffiss Institute, aka Griffiss Air Force Base.

A pole dancing F-15 Eagle? Researching the tail number I came across info that says it is an F-15A (72-0113). It is mounted upside down on a pedestal at the Rome Air Development Center’s (aka USAF Super Lab) Newport, New York, test site. A radar warning system pod mounted on the fuselage is being compared to the onboard radar warning system, 06OCT1988.

I’ve read the official 1991 “in-house report” on Super Lab activities and it made no mention of the pole dancing F-15A, it talks about the late 1970s pole dancing F-111, and middle 1980s F-16 (which took place at about the same time as the F-15 testing).

Information that was issued with the publicly released photos incorrectly says this Eagle is a F-15C!

F-15A 72-0113 was one of the first production Eagles.  Interestingly it was quickly retired, after only a few years of testing over Edwards Air Force Base in California, to The Bone Yard (Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona) in 1977. Then, in 2005 it was reported as being “preserved on a pole” in Newport, New York!

Supposedly, F-15A tail number 72-0113 was spotted still hanging around the USAF Super Lab, in 2016.  Unfortunately, Newport Research Site-Griffiss Institute’s website doesn’t give any information about the F-15.

U.S. Air Force photo, 24SEP1979.

Photographic evidence shows that #72-0113 was delivered to the Rome Air Development Center in September 1979.

An F-15 Eagle pole dances while a YA-10 waits its turn.

The elaborate ‘antenna test site’ use several different height, 3-axis position, towers.  The site tests the effects of radar, electronic jamming and the effectiveness of experimental electronic countermeasures.

A July 1986 photo showing 72-0113 on top of the Irish Hill tower. The info that came with the photo incorrectly states that it is in Rhode Island!

The aircraft that have been tower mounted, so far, are the YA-10, AC-130, F-4, F-16, F-15, F-18, F-22, F-35, MH 60 SEAHAWK and sections of the B-1B, EC-135 Snoopy, and others.

They even mounted a HMMWV on a pole.

U.S. Disaster/Food Crisis 2022: Oklahoma Militia fights 702-Fire, no more Beef Cattle?

“It’s burning up in these canyons deep, burning out over the bowls and spreading out…. …. We’re unable to get our trucks and units down into the fire so. Basically, the only way is only with dozers and air support is the only way we’ll be able to get this knocked down.”-Jim Shelton, Blaine County Emergency Management

This year’s fire season doesn’t seem as profuse as previous years.  Don’t tell that to people in Oklahoma, already more than 8-thousand acres (3237 hectares) have burned since 14JUL2022.

KOCO report from 15JUL2022, points out that the fire is negatively affecting a major food source:

World War 3: Idaho S-T-E-M preps grade schoolers for future war

“Summer is the time the program has given us to step outside our normal curriculum and experiment to try out new areas of STEM and develop new lessons we can then possibly submit to our national program for youth and other Starbase programs across the nation. Our Starbase staff were really excited about developing this new program and we hope to continue the curriculum into future summer camps and possibly the normal academic year.”-Courtney Taylor, Idaho Starbase director

During the months of June and July, 2022, fewer than 2-hundred 5th grade students in Idaho took part in an Idaho National Guard STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Summer Camp program, called Starbase (STARBASE A Department of Defense Youth Program).  It is not the first time, but this year demand for such a program was high enough that the normal one camp was expanded into eight separate camps, and three new unique/specialized programs were tried-out.

The Starbase camp is for children of members of the Idaho state militia.  Military based STEM camps began in 2018, under the federal Department of Education’s (DoE) Title 1, however, according to the Idaho National Guard the federal Department of Defense (DoD) is actually providing the funding for the state militia operated STEM camps and after-school programs.

Military based STEM camps are also for children of migrant farm workers, under the federal DoE’s Migrant Education Program.  It appears that the DoD’s Starbase STEM camps are exclusively for children of National Guard personnel, and children of migrant workers!

Idaho Army National Guard photo by Crystal Farris, 28JUN2022.

For June 2022, Idaho’s Starbase introduced three new categories for its Summer camp; identifying weapons of mass destruction (WMD) under the guise of CSI (Crime Scene Investigation), Space-Force training under the guise of Mission to Mars, and survival training under the guise of search and rescue. Students were part of other programs such as the Caldwell Migrant Summer School Program,  the Idaho Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, the Learning Garden Children’s Center in Meridian, and four different regions of the YMCA (Christian organization founded in the United Kingdom, based in Switzerland).

For July 2022, Starbase Idaho wrapped-up the season by introducing 3rd through 6th grade students to Idaho Army National Guard armored vehicles.

For years, the hi-tech industry in Idaho has worked with the military to educate grade school aged children in the ways of STEM.  Boise based computer chip maker Micron has its own STEM bus which makes visits to military bases. (just a week ago, Micron warned of continuing chip shortages, but this time due to crashing demand caused by inflation)

Pocatello Arts Council is not taxpayer funded, but helps bring free public events!

14 July 2022  (10:08-UTC-07 Tango 06) 23 Tir 1401/14 Dhu l-Hijja 1443/16 Ding-Wei 4720

Recently in the U.S. state of Idaho, apparently (supposedly) a City of Pocatello council person inquired about the funding for the Pocatello Arts Council.  It sounded very much like she was ‘fishing’ for ways to appropriate some of that funding for local government use, not unusual for a city council that has a history of non-transparent, and even non-existent, financial record keeping.  There is one major problem; the Pocatello Arts Council is not a government operation, it is a non-governmental organization (NGO) created and funded totally by donations!

For Summer 2022, the Pocatello Arts Council has teamed-up with many other organizations to bring free-to-the-public Shakespeare performances at the Idaho State University (ISU), in Pocatello.

Idaho State University’s The Quad.

On July 21st, Twelfth Night will be performed on The Quad, starting at 18:30 (6:30PM). Then King Lear makes an appearance on July 23rd, same location.  Food trucks will be staged, but they are not free, bring money or bring your own food.

On this map The Quad is the area marked as #9.

Shoshone-Bannock Tribes conduct sunrise prayer on ISU’s Quad.

For those wanting more academic information about some guy named Shakespeare, on the 20th of July there is a free lecture (with live sample performances) at the Marshall Public Library, in the Old Town part of Pocatello.

The lecture is held before the theatrical plays take place so you’ll get a better understanding of the mind-set of The Bard.

In October 1991, the Pocatello Arts Council was created by a generous grant from an individual.  The council members are not paid a dime, they are volunteering their own time and efforts.  While Pocatello Arts Council is a non-taxpayer funded NGO, they do serve as an ‘advisory council’ to the Mayor of Pocatello.

Pocatello Arts Council also offers very small grants to local people feeling creative, there are deadlines, apply here.

In May 2015, the Ohio Air Militia also ‘flew’ their baby F-16 in the Memorial Day parade in Springfield.

Ohio Air National Guard photo, 25MAY2015.

Oh course, it had to be ‘bombed-up’ for the solemn occasion (Memorial Day is a solemn holiday about military personnel who got killed, don’t know why the main stream news media always refers to it as a celebration).

From 06JUN2022 to 16JUN2022, Utah’s 116th Engineer Company-1457th Engineer Battalion dug up several sites at Dinosaur National Monument, near Vernal.

But, the Utah Army Engineers were not looking for dinosaurs, they were helping the National Park Service’s Dinosaur National Monument to become more functional, and more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act: “We started with the demolition and took out all the fixtures. We discovered an ant infestation, so we decided to remove all the old framing. Then it was on to electrical and plumbing.”-Staff Sergeant Kaydee Taylor

Why is a P-M of a British Empire member nation inspecting a U.S. military base in Colorado?

“Samuel, notify your men; the British are coming.”-General Oliver Prescott, 19APR1775

“We’re seeing a time where the world is shifting rapidly, whether it’s new threats or new technology, and it’s important to work closely together.”-Justin Pierre James Trudeau, Prime Minister of NATO Canada, 07JUN2022

Canada is a founding member of NATO, and Canada is part of the Commonwealth of Nations (aka British empire, most Commonwealth of Nations members use an image of the British monarch on their currency). On 07JUN2022, the arrogant (proven by his handling of the anti-mandates Freedom Convoys) Prime Minister of NATO Canada, Justin Pierre James Trudeau, arrived on Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado.

Inside the alternate operations center. U.S. Department of Defense photo by Thomas Paul, 07JUN2022.

He was in town to inspect the headquarters of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (aka NorAD, Nor=North, A=American or Aerospace[?], D=Defense, and for some reason they leave off the C.  Formerly known as North American Air Defense Command.)  NorAD is a joint operation between Canada and the United States.  Since 1958, NorAD’s purpose is to defend against enemy airborne attacks, mainly from Soviet Union, then so-called terrorists flying airliners, and now Russia.

The Canadian ‘leader’ was given a souvenir piece of rock left over from the Cold War days when the once secret Cheyenne Mountain complex was built. USDoD photo by Thomas Paul, 07JUN2022.

NorAD’s headquarters, in the U.S. state of Colorado, is also known as Cheyenne Mountain. The last time a Canadian PM visited Cheyenne Mountain was in 1977, and guess who it was, Justin Pierre James Trudeau’s father Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau (aka Pierre Trudeau)!

In May 2022, Canadian officials said they will increase taxpayer spending not only on NorAD, but on NATO as well.

In April 2022, Canadian officials said they are willing to spend CA$1-billion (US$780-million) of their taxpayer’s money to help build NorAD’s new over-the-horizon, Russia facing, radar system in the Arctic region.

U.S. control of NorAD is handled through U.S. Northern Command (USNorthCom).

Dodge pickup spontaneously bursts into flames! Area 51?

Until 2010, the Nevada National Security Site was known as the Nevada Test Site/Sandia National Laboratories.

Nevada Test Site photo, 09JUL1986.

In July 1986, a relatively new Dodge Ram pickup suddenly caught fire, or rather whatever it had in the bed of the truck suddenly caught fire.

Nevada Test Site photo, 09JUL1986.

These photos came with no explanation, only with vague reference to “fire testing” and “fire effects”.  The photos are titled as “General Test Truck Fire”.  I have a problem with it being referred to as a ‘test’, the photos clearly show that the Dodge was being driven along a road when the fire burst out.

Nevada Test Site photo, 09JUL1986.

It pulled over, as did vehicles behind it.  Photos show items in the pickup bed were thrown out in an effort to prevent them from burning, an unused fire extinguisher is still in the bed, and the cab where the driver sits also caught fire.

Nevada Test Site photo, 09JUL1986.

One photo is focused on two strange looking boxes/electrical components that have suffered fire damage.

Nevada Test Site photo, 09JUL1986.

Perhaps this truck was being used to carry materials to conduct ‘fire testing’, and those flammable materials burst into flames under the hot Nevada Sun?  By the way, Area 51 is officially part of the U.S. Air Force’s Nevada Test and Training Range, not the Nevada Test Site.
