The American Red Cross announced that, so far, $120 million has been raised to help the people of Japan.
$10 million has already been sent to Japan, and another $50 million will be sent in a few days. The rest will be sent as it becomes available.

Remember when Gaddafi told international media that al Qaeda was behind some of the “peaceful” militant protesters? Even if you don’t, the U.S. media, and our government, laughed his claims off, saying it was proof he was crazy.
Guess what the U.S. commander of NATO said? Admiral James Stavridis said there were “flickers” of al Qaeda within the rebels. The admiral’s statement was backed up by a senior counter terrorism official, unnamed because he is not authorized to speak to the media. He said there is “…a sprinkling of extremists to perhaps include al Qaeda,” adding that “It’s hard to tell who all the leaders are in the opposition.” So our government doesn’t know who we are supporting? We could be supporting al Qaeda? Who’s crazy now?
Operation Odyssey Dawn is, according to President Barack Obama, going to be handed over to NATO on Thursday, April 1 (don’t be surprised if it’s an April Fools prank [heh, April Fools, Thursday is actually March 31]), so that the United States will no longer be in charge of attacking Libya. But who is in charge of NATO? The United States!
Already Obama has lied about U.S. involvement in Operation Odyssey Dawn, being just days, not weeks. When the official hand over to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) takes place on Thursday, it will be a week and a half since the coalition military action began. Remember, Obama swore to Congress it was only going to be “…days, not weeks.”
What about NATO? First of all, the United States created NATO in 1949. The United States has been behind the push to expand NATO since the demise of the Soviet Union in 1991. By the way the Soviet Union was why NATO was created, so why is NATO still around 20 years after the Soviet Union ceased to exist? Because the United States wanted to keep it around.
Who runs NATO, literally? The United States. United States Navy Admiral James Stavridis is the current military commander of NATO. In other words; Obama is NOT handing off control of Odyssey Dawn, it is still under the control of the U.S.
By the way, this is why French President Sarkozy did not want NATO to take over. So far each “coalition” member has been doing their own thing. No real coordination. Sarkozy did not want France to lose direct control of their military action against Libya. By Sarkozy is the one who pushed everyone to pass the UNSCR 1973.
A Pentagon spokesperson explained that the real reason to turn things over to NATO, was money. The U.S. doesn’t have the money to continue most of the actual military action. By shifting to NATO, most of the military action will carried out, AND PAID FOR, by other members of NATO. NATO will still be run by the United States.
Now what about the name of this military action against the Libyan government? “Operation Odyssey Dawn”: Odyssey means a very long trip. Dawn usually refers to the start, or beginning, of something. Mmmm, beginning of a very long trip? Can you say Freudian slip?
Lies, lies and more lies!
Operation Tomodachi, the name of the relief effort by the U.S. military, includes several state, and territorial, Army and Air National Guard units.
Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama and U.S. Territory of Guam Guard units have been activated to take part in helping Japan deal with a series of disasters, and to help with the evacuation of U.S. personnel and their families.
Last year a christian leader in Florida backed off the burning of a Quran. Even General Petraeus was against it.
Last week the same Florida christian leader, and his followers, burned the Quran anyway. He feels justified in that they held a 15 minute trial, and found the Quran “guilty”.
The christian leader lied about the burning, because, according to a 2010 Voice of America report, he said the Quran would “never” be burned at his church.
President Obama, Prime Minister Cameron, President Sarkozy all say the military action against Libya is about protecting peaceful civilians. It interesting that those peaceful civilians are attacking OIL towns.
That’s right, those peaceful rebels are not trying to implement regime change, they’re trying to take over all the oil towns.
Here’s a list of the cities ‘peaceful’ rebels have taken, or are attacking: Ajdabiya, Ras Lanuf, As Sidra, Benghazi, Brega and Misratah. All these cities are connected to the oil industry in some way.
In Egypt, and Tunis, truly peaceful protesters focused their efforts in their country’s capitols. They wanted to be in the face of their unresponsive governments. Yet, almost from the start, what is happening in Libya is armed rebels attacking oil fields and oil cities. This is an all out military action, NOT peaceful protest!
In the last week of February China began evacuating their oil field workers from Libya, because they were being attacked by armed “gangs”. These gangs deliberately destroyed all the Chinese equipment. These are not ‘peaceful’ protesters.
Rebel leaders, and Libyan arms dealers working in Egypt, have admitted that from early on they were being armed by the West. President Obama, where are the peaceful Libyan protesters?
Recently in Brussels, Belgium, the EU parliament was surrounded by about 20,000 protesters. They wanted to know where the taxes they paid went to.
“This money was made to be used for social security. It was meant to be used for social health, not to help the banks.”-Serge Monsieur, protester
Governments across Europe are dealing with what they claim is no money for their budgets. Europeans pay outrageously high taxes. Just look at their sales tax, in some countries it’s more than 20%! And now more war, this time against Libya.
Protesters say in the past few years they’ve seen the social programs, that they thought their taxes were going to, being slashed and burned. Jobs keep disappearing. Yet, there seems to be plenty of money for bank bailouts, government bailouts and war.
Isn’t that happening here in the United States? Wake up people!
At the most recent press conference a Japanese reporter asked Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano, why foreign reporters have been banned from press conferences.
Edano blamed the stressful conditions of trying to deal with the catastrophic disaster.
The Exxon/Mobile Shiogama Oil Terminal near Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, resumed operations on Thursday (Japan time).
Local officials in north east Honshu, Japan, say the oil refinery, which makes gasoline and heating fuel, is key in helping local economic recovery after the 9.0 quake/tsunami.
Hillary Clinton said that NATO members have agreed to take over the military lead in the action against Libya.
She also admitted that there is no unified military plan among the coalition forces. “All 28 allies have also now authorized military authorities to develop an operations plan for NATO to take on the broader civilian protection mission.”- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
Can you say: Ad Hoc, last minute, willie nillie, rushed, haphazard, last minute lack of planing?
