People fleeing to Canada are becoming such a problem for the British empire country that immigration laws are about to become tougher. One of the problems revealed is that Canadian law firms are helping employers avoid current laws, which say Canadian citizens must be considered for employment over immigrants.
Apparently Canadian companies are taking advantage of the mass immigrations of economic refugees, including those from the United States, because they can pay them far less than what they pay Canadian citizens.
Ever since 9/11 Canada has seen a steady yearly increase in U.S. citizens becoming permanent residents.
According to Canadian government statistics, in 2005 U.S. citizens made up 250,535 of the immigrants granted permanent residence.
In 2011, 8,829 U.S. citizens were granted permanent residence. In 2012, 9,414 U.S. citizens became permanent residents of Canada.
But Canada is not the number one destination for U.S. citizens fleeing economic and political hardship, in fact U.S. citizens make up only about 4% of the immigrants in the Great White North.
Stay tuned.
