Alberta, Canada: Influenza death toll now at 15. More than 2500 confirmed cases, 600 hospitalizations.
Saskatchewan, Canada: Provincial health officials say more people have died from H1N1 than during the 2009-10 pandemic; 16 deaths and 1102 laboratory confirmed cases. 75% of infected people have other health problems.
Mexico: The Secretariat of Health reports 135 influenza deaths since the beginning of January. 1517 cases, with 180% of those happening since 16 January, and the overwhelming majority being H1N1.
The U.S. CDC says for the week of 12-18 January 2014, 96.8% of confirmed flu cases across the U.S.A. are H1N1.
Arizona, United States: A 2 and half years old girl, born with medical problems, is in a medically induced coma after getting H1N1. Her parents brought her into the hospital when she had trouble breathing, a sign of H1N1. The girl’s mother is now in the hospital as well, but doctors diagnosed her with Valley Fever. Doctors said the girl is on as many as 17 medications to try and fight off H1N1. The family needs financial help, so much for Obama Care.
California, United States: State health officials confirmed 95 influenza deaths, and are investigating another 51. In Turlock a fast food store manager, and mother of two, is in the hospital with severe H1N1. The Emanuel Medical Center of Turlock is now restricting children from visiting patients. In San Diego, Rady Children’s Hospital reports that since 01 January 2014, 13 children put into ICU with severe flu. Hospitals in Los Angeles are expecting a spike in cases. Cedars-Sinai now requires visitors to wear masks. Hospital officials say they are not seeing a drop in the number of flu infected people coming in, and they expect the next few weeks could see worsening cases.
Illinois, United States: Department of Public Health reporting 122 people in intensive care fighting severe influenza.

Massachusetts, United States: Alere Incorporated claims they have a flu test that can give you results in 15 minutes. The U.S. FDA is reviewing it.
Michigan, United States: Department of Community Health reports 232 lab confirmed flu cases since 30 September 2013. The overwhelming majority are H1N1, and have been hospitalized.
North Dakota, United States: A 30 years old woman was the first to die from H1N1 in the Peace Garden State.
Tennessee, United States: At least 19 people dead from influenza, surpassing the death toll from the 2009-10 H1N1 pandemic.
Texas, United States: The doctor who came down with H1N1 and was initially misdiagnosed by fellow doctors as having a bacterial infection, and then had to be put into a coma for almost a month, has woken up. His wife and adult daughter also got sick and recovered.
