Japan Modern Day Atlantis round 10: New Mega Quake predicted for Tokyo Bay

After five years of research, a team of scientist, some from the University of Tokyo, have concluded that Tokyo Bay is set to experience a Mega Quake.

The research caused the geologists to realize the fault line, running under the Kanto area of Japan, is actually 10 km (6 miles) closer to the land’s surface, than first thought.  They have upped the expected earthquake on the fault from a Japanese magnitude 6 to magnitude 7.  Magnitude 7 is the maximum on the Japanese quake intensity scale!

But wait, there’s more!  The research does not include any data for the March 11, 2011, Mega Quake. The researchers say they are now updating their five year study with that data.

Pacific Ring of Fire: First big quake of 2012 hits Japan, magnitude 7

Japan’s Meteorological Agency says a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit near the Torishima Island in the Pacific Ocean.

The tremors were felt from Tokyo up to Fukushima, on Honshu, and felt in the southern part of Hokkaido.  On the land the quake registered as a 4 magnitude using the Japanese quake scale.

So far no damage reported, and no fears of tsunami.

Japan admits high levels of radiation in north eastern Honshu!

Japan’s Environment Ministry has given some clues as to how bad the radiation contamination is in north eastern Honshu.  The area is being devastated by radiation coming from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

In a report on how the government of Japan plans to address decontamination issues, they revealed that some areas have soil that’s emitting more than 0.23 microsieverts per hour!

They also stated that ‘sludge’ has been found to be contaminated with 8,000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium!

The Environment Ministry even admitted that areas as far south as Tokyo are highly contaminated and will require decontamination.  Tokyo is about 220 kilometers, or 137 miles from Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Corporate Incompetence meets Investor Vengeance: TEPCo stockholders sue Nuclear Disaster Reactor company for $71 billion!

42 major Tokyo Electric Power Company stockholders are demanding that auditors for the company sue the 61 current, and former, corporate executive members of the nuclear disaster reactor company.

They claim the executives failed to keep their promise to make the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant earthquake and tsunami proof.  Japan has been suffering from the ongoing radioactive emissions for more than eight months.

The shareholders want more than 5.5 trillion yen (U.S.$71 billion), the highest ever demanded in a lawsuit in Japan.

The investors said if the TEPCo auditors did not file a lawsuit against the executives, within 60 days, they would do so themselves.

Corporate Incompetence: United States involved with Olympus scandal, Olympus to be delisted from stock market

Japan’s NHK reporting that the incredibly bad investment deals Olympus made, were influenced by a U.S. financial advisory company.

The company was created in 1997 by former Japanese stock brokers.  The company charged Olympus outrageous mediation fees for their advise on taking over other companies.  Reports say at least U.S.$687 million in mediation fees were paid to what could be a bogus company.

Olympus officials are said to have spent a lot of time visiting their U.S. based, but Japanese run, financial advisory company.

The Japanese Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission has ordered Olympus to present accurate financial reports by December 14.  If they do not, Olympus will be delisted from the Tokyo Stock Exchange.  If you have Olympus stocks, sell, sell, sell!
