Corporate Incompetence: Nuclear Plant workers say Reactor 1 was already melting down even before the Tsunami hit, decreasing radiation levels due to fuel rods being washed away

Many workers who were at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant the day of the 11 March 2011 quake and tsunami, say reactor 1 was already in trouble and possibly melting down, immediately after the 9.0 quake.

“There’s certainly a great deal of evidence that appears to suggest that the first reactor, reactor number one, was melting down by the time the tsunami hit. So, if that’s the case that the reactor was melting down as a result of the earthquake, and not as a result of the tsunami, a nine-point earthquake is something that has the potential to happen throughout Japan, and that would put the reliability and the design safety of all of these reactors in question.”-Robert Jacobs, Hiroshima Peace Institute

Also, Tokyo Electric Power Company has been reporting decreasing radiation levels coming from Pacific Ocean water inlets and outlets.  It’s not a sign they have things under control, because they certainly don’t.  Rather, after 5 months of ongoing nuclear disaster, what’s happened is that the remains of nuclear fuel rods have been washed out into the Pacific Ocean by TEPCo’s continued water injection.

“When you have a fragile structure that’s already suffered a great deal of damage and when you have continual aftershocks at the level of six-point, or there’s been some even higher, what we have now is we have the radioactive core that has melted down into the basement, into the bottom of the containment vessel of these reactors, and if the radiation level is going down, where it’s been monitored inside the buildings, and if the water pressure is going down, and the temperature is going down, it’s not that the radiation is just suddenly going away, it means that the radioactive material, the melted core, is simply moving further away from where it’s been measured.”-Robert Jacobs

Operation BART: U.S. Media says no transit shutdown, U.K. Media says 4 BART stations shut down, who’s right?

August 16, protestors shut down four of San Fransisco’s BART stations, according to media in the United Kingdom.  Yet the San Fransisco Chronicle says no such shutdown took place!

August 17, the San Fransisco Chronicle published an article titled “No BART protests”.  The article claims that BART service was not interrupted by any protestors: “Tuesday’s commutes were hassle free, despite rumors that more protests were planned.”

Yet, at the beginning of the article it clearly states: “…protesters disrupted yet another commute…” Which is it San Fransisco Chronicle, commutes were hassle free or not?

August 16, the British Daily Mail published an article which states: “Four San Francisco subway stations had to be shut down temporarily last night as the hacker group Anonymous continued its protest over free speech and police brutality.”

The U.K. Daily Mail even has pics.  Clearly, and as usual, the U.S. media can not be trusted.

U.S. Media hints that former U.S. cop, now chairman of private security company, might take over British Scotland Yard

The American Broadcasting Company interviewed Bill Bratton, the man just hired by the U.K. Prime Minister to help with civil disturbance issues.

In the interview ABC pressured Bratton with a question about being offered to take over Scotland Yard.

Bratton explained that the U.K. Parliament requires the person hired for that position to be a U.K. citizen.  ABC countered with a “What if a way is cleared to allow you to become head of Scotland Yard?”, Bratton responded with “I never close any door before it’s opened.”

The U.K. is downsizing its police force, and Bill Bratton just happens to run a private security company called Kroll Associates.

British Bobbies pissed that U.K. Prime Minister is consulting with a U.S. Cop, all part of the plan to downsize and privatize British police force

Prime Minister David Cameron hired former Los Angeles cop, Bill Bratton, to advise him on how to handle the growing discontent of the people of the Britain.

London police are pissed off at the idea that they are not considered good enough for Cameron to consult with: “The Association of Chief Police Officers and the Federation understand U.K. legislation and are in a much better place to advise the PM than an American. Why won’t the Prime Minister consult us?”-The Met (Scotland Yard) Inspectors Branch Board statement

Part of the British government spending cuts hit the cops, not just the lower class.  Thousands of bobbies are to be laid off.  Many in Britain are wondering, as things get worse, who will be there for riot control and other civil disturbances?

The clue is in Bill Bratton. He runs a private security company, called Kroll Associates.  Could part of the “consulting” with the Prime Minister involve how to privatize law enforcement in the United Kingdom?  I wonder how the British bobbies will feel when they get laid off and join the ranks of all those unemployed young people they beat and shot (kinda like when a cop goes to prison)?

Thousands of peaceful protestors hit the streets of North London, right wing media ignores it

“We shouldn’t be cutting services. We should be investing in young people, we should be investing in our society.”-protestor

August 13, thousands took to the streets in North London’s Hackney.  They were protesting all the cuts to social programs for the lower classes.  The main stream right wing media in the U.S. and U.K. ignored the protest.

The people were also protesting the police shooting of an unarmed man, and the beating of a 16 year old girl, which led to the violent rioting this past week.  However they said they didn’t support violence, even by the police: “We don’t condone damage, fires, threat to life and violence like that.  At the same time we understand why young people are angry.”-protestor

Most protestors agree that what’s needed is more jobs: “They should spend the money in this country, we need more jobs for our youngsters!”-retired man

United Police States of America: San Fransisco cuts off cell phone service to stop protesters, proof U.S. authorities are no better than Mubarak or Cameron

“BART officials are showing themselves to be of a mind with the former president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak.”-Electronic Frontier Foundation

August 11, the city of San Fransisco, California, shut off cell phone service to prevent people from protesting a police crime.

Residents had planned to protest the killing of a man by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) police.  The man was shot back in July.  Police claim he was attacking them with a knife.  It’s not the first time BART police have shot and killed someone in a questionable incident.

BART officials admitted, on their web site, they shut off several cell towers, to prevent demonstrators from using their cell phones to launch another protest.  On July 11, people disrupted transit service by protesting the killing of the homeless man.

“Shutting down access to mobile phones is the wrong response to political protests.”-Rebecca Farmer, ACLU

BART police say they’re within the law by cutting off cell phone service, however FCC (Federal Communication Commission) regulations say cell customers must be notified “in writing” when their cell service is about to be cut off “for any reason”.

If you’ve lost cell phone service without being notified visit www.fcc.gov/complaints or call 1-888-CALL-FCC.

United Police Kingdom: Right Wing Controlled Media lied about official inquiry, Independent Police Complaints Commission forced to restate that Police did the only shooting, video of police beating 16 year old girl

Because of incorrect reporting, by the mainstream right wing controlled media, of the Independent Police Complaints Commission’s initial conclusions about the shooting, that led to the English riots, the commission has restated that the police were the only ones who fired their weapons.

There was no exchange of gunfire, as the right wing media continues to report: “Any reference to an exchange of shots was not correct and did not feature in any of our formal statements, although an officer was taken to hospital after the incident.”-latest IPCC statement

The commission also stated that any shots that hit police, came from police.  They pointed out that the police radio that was hit, was hit by a jacketed police issue bullet.

The right wing media has also been reporting that police claim the shooting victim had a pistol that was illegally converted to fire live ammo.  As I reported earlier, the Independent Police Complaints Commission said there is no evidence the victim shot at police, and that he was not armed!

The commission stated in its latest press conference, that the pistol police claim to have belonged to the shooting victim, was no where near the scene of the shooting.

The riots started after a a crowd of about 200 people gathered to protest he shooting.  A 16 year old girl approached the line of police officers and was beaten by them (right wing reports say she attacked police).  That’s when the peaceful protesters went violent.

There’s video on YouTube, it’s a little dark, but you can hear someone yelling at the British Bobbies that they’re beating a “F**cking girl!”.  Of interest is that YouTube has been blocking some earlier posts of the video, as “potentially offensive” even though it’s hard to see what’s happening in the video.

Iran, Libya & Zimbabwe slam United Kingdom, demand human rights investigation, says Cameron is no longer a legitimate ruler

“Cameron and his government have lost all legitimacy. These demonstrations show that the British people reject this government which is trying to impose itself through force.”-Khaled Kaaim, Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister

In a tit-for-tat statement Libyan officials are calling for British Prime Minister to step down, because the anti-government protests, which have recently turned into all out riots after a police shooting (and the little mentioned police beating of a 16 year old girl), prove that the current British government is oppressive.  Libya is even demanding that the United Nations take action against the U.K.

Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe said, in a round about way, that Britain needs to shut up and get off his back, when it comes to human rights violations: “Britain I understand is on fire, London especially and we hope they can extinguish their fire, pay attention to their internal problem and to that fire which is now blazing all over and leave us alone.”

Iran has already offered to send peacekeeping troops to the U.K., and human rights investigators as well.  One Iranian cleric said Britain is simply reaping what it’s sowed over the centuries: “The colonialists schemed and spent money to create chaos in countries and today the result of their plotting is the events they have been stricken with.”-Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi

A senior Iranian politician warned the United Nations that if it didn’t take action against Britain, as it has against Libya and Syria, then it would loose all legitimacy: “If the Security Council does not put David Cameron’s trial as a war criminal on its agenda and does not meet this demand of the British nation, [other] nations’ view of this council will definitely change more than ever before.”-Mohammad-Karim Abedi, Deputy Chairman of Iran’s Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee

Government Incompentence: Japanese official does 1-80, stops promoting Japanese food, now says no guarantee it’s safe to eat

Foreign Minister Takeaki Matsumoto has been working hard promoting Japanese food products to other countries, despite overwhelming evidence of radiation contamination.  Now Takeaki has ordered his own ministry to stop vouching for the safety of Japanese food products.

Takeaki Matsumoto says his 1-80 is the result of increased demands for food safety information from other countries, and the fact that it’s become impossible to guarantee food being exported from Japan is safe from radiation.

This is because many of the contaminated food products sold within Japan, were discovered after they were sold to consumers.

Looting and violence spreads outside London, ignorant British newspapers blame video games

BBC is reporting that the city of Birmingham, England, has been hit by looting and violence.

According to the BBC: Cars were set on fire in Lewisham.  A bus and shop were set alight in Peckham.  Several fires broke out in Croydon, including one at a large furniture shop which spread to neighboring buildings and tram lines.  In Hackney police 200 riot officers with dogs and mounted police were located around Mare Street where police cars were damaged.  Looters raided a Debenhams store and a row of shops in Lavender Hill in Clapham.    In Birmingham, police said officers had made 35 arrests, including six juveniles, on Monday evening.    Buses were diverted as the violence spread to Bromley High Street.    There were reports of looting of phone shops in Woolwich High Street, in south London, and a torched police car.   Shops and restaurants were damaged in Ealing, west London, and there was a fire in Haven Green park opposite Ealing Broadway Tube.

Some British newspapers are avoiding the more plausible reasons for the rioting, like a bad economy and police brutality, and actually blamed video games.  One newspaper claims to have seen ten year olds taking part in the looting, and quotes an unnamed police officer as saying the rioters are motivated by the video game Grand Theft Auto.

If you’ve played Grand Theft Auto then you would know that in no way does it involve mass rioting and looting.  The game is centered around a single player, you, who’s goal is to steal cars.  Somehow the ignorant British media and authorities equate an individual stealing cars in a video game to mass rioting, vandalism and looting in real life.  It’s proof that the ‘better off’ in Britain are the ones living in a fantasy world.
