Operation Jupiter: For past 40 years a major Vaccine maker lied about how they make vaccines!

Quietly, in December 2015 police raided a decades old and respected vaccine maker.  Today it’s been revealed that at least eight of the company’s products are fake!

Japan’s Kaketsuken-Chemo-Sero-Therapeutic Research Institute was suspended from selling those eight products after Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare discovered the company lied about everything regarding those products.  Kaketsuken is also suspended from doing business for 110 days.

The December raid came after an employee blew the whistle.  Documents seized in the raid proved the employee correct.  For at least 40 years banned ingredients were being put into vaccines and blood treatment products, and the data for the effectiveness of those products are false!

Katesuken is one of many drug companies that settled lawsuits claiming that more than 1,400 Japanese hemophiliacs were infected with HIV(AIDS) after using their blood treatment drugs!  (Somebody investigate how HIV got inside drugs at the point of manufacture)

Today’s admission by the Ministry of Health could open up lawsuits against the government, for failing to police the evil drugs industry which has killed thousands of Japanese (documented by lawsuits against the drugs companies) since the 1980s!

It’s time the common people of Japan throwaway that damned Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, See No Evil philosophy and get mean!

I say once a Snake Oil Salesperson always a Snake Oil Salesperson.  But snake oil (drugs-vaccines-medicine-pills, etc) wouldn’t be such a big seller if it wasn’t for, as an unverified critic of iconic American hustler P.T. Barnum once said, there being “…a sucker born every minute.”  (by the way, P.T. Barnum did not utter that pontification, it was a critic of his charlatan ways who did, but Barnum did say that his customers were “fickle and ofttimes perverse”)

Jamaica, a member country of the West Indies Federation, is reporting that the unAmerican corporate America hospitality industry will hire 3-thousand Jamaicans in 2016, that’s a 50% increase from 2015!  The majority of Jamaicans are working in the U.S. states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Michigan.

Arkansas: Bentonville based economic canary in the coal mine Walmart began shutting down 154 U.S. stores on 17 January 2016, at least 10-thousand U.S. jobs lost!   (here’s the list)

California:  Cupertino based Apple is hurting for cash so much that it will now charge you to listen to ad plastered iTunes Radio in the U.S.   Here’s a fine example of why it’s not worth it to do business in The Golden State: The city of Palo Alto is demanding the family owners of Buena Vista mobile home park pay an $8-million USD fine for wanting to shutdown their money losing operation:  “The city says the money is needed so that the tenants can get expensive alternative housing in the area; in effect, the city is holding the Jissers uniquely responsible for solving the city’s severe housing affordability problem. That’s not just wrong, it’s unconstitutional.   …..The city’s motion to dismiss doesn’t deny that the city is commanding a payment of $8 million…It just says the case shouldn’t be heard by a judge….. -Larry Salzman, Pacific Legal Foundation

Hawaii:  Kahului Trucking & Storage laying off drivers as a result of the sudden shutdown of The Aloha State’s last sugar farm.

Idaho:  A new study by the United Way shows 37% of Idahoans are in poverty and employed!  Specifically, 37% of Idahoans are now classified as working poor, or Asset Limited-Income Constrained-Employed (aka ALICE).  The United Way says even with the piddly-ass social services Idahoans cannot afford to buy basic necessities!   And for more proof Right to Work only Works You Over keep reading.Governor Butch Otter wants a third mental health crisis center built in The Gem State.  Between 2014-15 eastern and northern Idaho got one each, and now Otter wants one in southern Idaho.  ‘Lawmakers’ and even local sheriffs praise the crisis centers but don’t give examples of why they’re so good.  The centers are meant to temporarily house people having mental health or drug abuse problems, instead of putting them in county jails.  The fact that sheriffs are praising them, and the governor wants to spend another $1.72-million building another one, indicates a huge need, that a lot of Idahoans are having trouble dealing with their Right to Work (you over) circumstances, yet Right to Work officials don’t want to admit it.     The city owned utility Idaho Falls Power is about to take over part of Rocky Mountain Power’s turf.  If the state Public Utilities Commission approves Rocky Mountain Power will transfer poles, conductors and conduits around the Fielding Cemetery property to the control of taxpayers of the city of Idaho Falls, for the price of  $50-thousand USD.   Even God couldn’t stop a Christian student from ripping off the Mormon Brigham Young University-Idaho of $6-thousand 2-hundred, using a university credit card.  Of course that ‘christian’ student wasn’t very smart because you can trace credit card transactions, and that’s how he got caught.

Kentucky:  ISO copper wire maker Belden shutting down their factory in Monticello, 260 jobs being lost to the state of Indiana and to the country of Mexico, between now and the beginning of next year!

Louisiana: In Opelousas, dancehall Slim’s Y-Ki-Ki shutdown after 69 years.  The property is now for sale.  The family owners blame young people and today’s greedy spoiled bands: “They don’t look at the overhead you have, the utilities and things like that. They tell me, ‘We’ll take the door.’ They’ll start off charging at $10, then $15 and $20. By midnight, they’ll have a packed house. They’ll put the money in their pockets and go home. Then you have all the stress of what the night crowd destroyed and what you have to fix. It got to where we weren’t hardly making any more money.”

Missouri:  Mike Shannon’s Steaks and Seafood shutting down their 30 years old downtown Saint Louis location,  claiming it will help them focus on “franchise expansion”.

Montana: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission records reveal that five executives of Stillwater Mining got paid the equivalent of millions of dollars in bonuses less than five months after they eliminated 120 jobs!  The bonuses were paid in the form of stocks in the company.  Company administrators refused to comment when questioned by local news media.

New Hampshire:  In Bath, The Brick Store (one of the oldest general stores in the U.S.) shutting down “due to changes in the economy”.  The owners, Mike and Nancy Lusby, added “We did our best, but we have exhausted our resources, and lost Mike’s pension. We have done everything we can for 24 years to save the store, but we have nothing left to give … financially, emotionally or physically.”

New Jersey:  God refuses to stop the shutdown of his Mother Teresa Catholic School, in June.  Enrollment is down below 1-hundred students.    For more proof the economy has not recovered, a major shipping company, which services retailers like Disney Store and Amazon.com, Elizabeth based EZ Worldwide Express is now chapter 11 bankrupt busted due to crashing shipment orders!   The company even invested $12-million USD into new trucks, but now the 7-hundred employees are threatened with unemployment!  With the massive retail store shutdowns now taking place across the U.S. you can expect even more shipping companies to go bust.

Ohio:  Researchers at Ohio State University have proven that an ‘Amazon Tax’ killed internet holiday sales in 2015.   They determined that sales on Amazon.com dropped an average of 8.3% in states that implemented taxes on internet purchases.  The Washington Post article said sales declines increased as the price of the item went up: “The Amazon Tax had an especially chilling effect on big-ticket purchases that totaled more than $250, the study found. On these transactions, Amazon sales declined 11.4 percent once the tax was put in place.”      U.S. Department of Energy awarded a contract potentially valued at $139.7-million USD to a company in Idaho, to provide infrastructure support services at the radioactive Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, in Piketon.  Interestingly the Idaho Falls, Idaho, based company is called Portsmouth Mission Alliance.  In Toledo, Laffs comedy club shutdown just short of the two year mark. The club’s operations manager said “…the turnout was not quite where we needed it to be.”

Pennsylvania: In Moosic, controversial adult outdoor movie theater Oak Hill Drive-In shutdown because they couldn’t afford to upgrade to digital.

Tennessee:  Jerky maker Oberto shutting down its two years old Nashville meat factory despite promising to create 310 jobs and getting almost $2-million in taxpayer funds and grants (not tax breaks, outright cash!).  State ‘lawmakers’ swear they’ll go after the jerky maker for a refund of the tax funding.  The Nashville factory never got above 82 employees, despite Oberto’s promise.  See more below in -Washington-.   Here’s what Karl Dean, the now former mayor of Nashville, said back in 2012: “Oberto’s decision to locate a plant in Nashville speaks to the vitality of our city and the talent of our workforce. I’m especially pleased that Oberto will be bringing an existing facility back to life. Filling vacant buildings in and around our urban core is important to the strength and future of our city.”   

Washington:  Kent based mass produced jerky maker Oberto announced it will shutdown its two years old meat factory in Tennessee (well, the factory is two years old, I don’t know about the meat) and sell-off a meat factory in Oregon!   The suck-ass economy is forcing Oberto to consolidate jerky treat making to its Washington ops.

Washington DC: Wonder what’s up with all the massive retail store shutdowns?  The Department of Commerce released consumer spending numbers for 2015 and overall spending fell from 2014, and is on its way to 2008-09 levels!  Even 2015 holiday sales flatlined!   Of course the self exalted ‘expert’ analysts on TV still claim that consumers are just “holding onto their money”.   I can tell you why I didn’t spend any money in 2015 on gifts or ‘extras’, same reason as the prior two years I don’t have any extra money to spend, I’m actually borrowing money to pay utilities gottdamn it!

Wisconsin:  Retail packaging company Sealed Air shutting down their Mount Pleasant office, 74 jobs lost.  It’s part of their plans, announced back in 2014, to move 3-hundred jobs out of The Badger State!

Under the order, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) must cut its current budget by more than $30 million, 5 percent of the current 2013 appropriation, by September 30, 2013. In order to help achieve these savings and protect core programs, the BLS will eliminate two programs, including Mass Layoff Statistics, and all ‘measuring green jobs’ products. This news release is the final publication of monthly mass layoff survey data.”

Woolly Mammoths killed by weapons, 10,000 years before humans arrived?

Russian paleontologists studying the remains of a 45-thousand years old Woolly Mammoth discovered it had been killed with human made weapons (spears).  This is significant because the age of the mammoth puts it 10-thousand years before evidence of humans show up in the Arctic region!

 

The mammoth remains also show the Too Early for Arctic Time humans butchered their kill, and attempted-but-failed to crack open a tusk.

Iran to save Boeing!

Proving U.S. sanctions are a failure, the Obama regime is allowing the flailing airliner maker Boeing to sell its aircraft to Iran.

Iran’s civil aviation industry is looking to buy 5-hundred new aircraft and all the parts they can handle!  Apparently Iran is willing to spend $50-billion USD doing so.

The recent nuclear deal allows countries to sell to Iran civilian aircraft and parts.

In August 2015, Reuters reported that Iran was willing to buy as many as 90 new European and U.S. made airliners per year!  Then in November 2015, Iranian news media reported that Boeing secretly signed a deal selling Iran 13 Boeing 737-400 airliners!

United Police States: Obama approves extra funding for prisons!

The U.S. Department of Labor is handing out $5-million USD in additional taxpayer funding for prisons around the U.S.

The Linking to Employment Activities Pre-Release grants are being spilt into ten and are to be used to provide employment training for people about to get out of jail.  The DoL says administrators are starting to see a connection between prison rates and inability to get a job.  Wow, shows you how dumb our leaders got, studies proved that back in the early 20th Century!

Journal Boating Industry reports “Both the unemployment rate and the number of job openings have remained essentially unchanged month-over-month, and yearly gains are starting to flatten.”  Thom Dammrich, of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, reported mixed news for the boating industry as a whole, going into 2016:  “Fuel prices remain low. Interest rates remain low. There’s nothing negative happening to adversely affect boat sales in the coming year that we can see today……The saltwater category has been growing in double digits…..” but he had a warning “We still are not getting entry-level boaters and that’s who buys these boats. That seems to be who’s missing from this equation.”

Alabama: Birmingham based Regions Bank announced the elimination of 260 jobs!  

Arkansas: Oil pipe maker Tenaris laid off 1-hundred people, blaming the crashing-n-burning oil industry!

Arizona: Days after non-profit Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) boasted that it was responsible for creating  jobs in the Phoenix area, several former employees came forth and essentially said ‘bull-shit!’ as they were part of a round of unreported TGen layoffs in October!  A reporter, who just happens to live next door to one of those laid off, did some research and discovered that TGen laid off 12 people and eliminated four vacant positions by the end of 2015. Industry reports say mining company Freeport-McMoRan has begun to layoff at least 8-hundred people at its Green Valley molybdenum Sierrita Mine!  In December a co-founder of the company resigned, after vulture capitalist investor Carl Icahn gained a controlling stake in the company (Icahn is the same guy who recently took over auto parts store Pep Boys).

California:  San Francisco based Too Big to Jail Wells Fargo continues to kill jobs, this time 121 tech jobs across the country!  It’s been revealed that Wells Fargo is actually covering the bad loans of huge oil companies (by literally throwing money at them), this should piss you off because Wells Fargo (a major mortgage company) does not hesitate to foreclose on homeowners!  (Mmmm, is it a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul?)   More proof you can’t blame the internet for brick-n-mortar destruction, dating website Zoosk laid off 40 employees.  In Venice, Superba Snack Bar shutting down at the end of the month.   In Tulare,  a class action lawsuit against Jan & Gail’s Care Homes (“Care Homes”) said newly hired employees were forced to sign an agreement waiving their right to uninterrupted meal periods without notifying employees of their right to revoke the agreement at any time.  However, the trial court ruled subdivision 11(E) of Wage Order 5 allows residential care facilities to force their employees to work on-duty meal periods!  

Florida:   In Lake City, Sitel Operating Corporation issued a WARN saying 94 people will be laid off in March.

Idaho: State Department of Health and Welfare hit with lawsuit accusing the Right to Work (you over) agency of hiding the changes in Medicaid healthcare costs for people who face being institutionalized.  The lawsuit accuses the state administrators of pretending that costs will not go up by being placed in a nursing home or hospital, and, of not informing patients of their rights.  This lawsuit comes as state ‘lawmakers’ claimed their version of ObamaCare was saving money!

Kansas: Besides the nine Walmart stores shutting down within The Sunflower State, the QuickTrip fuel station on 13th and Oliver, in Wichita, shutting down after 25 years.  It’s directly and immediately blamed on the shutdowns of nearby Walmarts: “We didn’t know it was going to be affected as dramatically as it has.The other store has suffered much quicker than we anticipated. We’ve been watching it for a while, and we could see that, unfortunately, the sales continue to decline.”-Mike Thornbrugh, QuickTrip

Michigan:  A great indicator of a good, or bad, economy are the lock systems used by shipping around The Great Lakes.   Soo Locks reports shipping for 2015 was down 10%, actual cargo tonnage down 9-million U.S. tons!    California based direct selling company ViSalus is eliminating 87 jobs in Troy by March, officially because their sales have crashed (down 44% in 2013), but it might also have something to do with lawsuits accusing the company of being yet another pyramid scheme.

Minnesota: Sears Holdings shutting down the Dundas Kmart by April, 32 jobs lost.   In Minneapolis, popular Nye’s Polonaise Room shutting down in April because property developers want to build a 29 story apartment complex in its place.

New York:  American Rock Salt laid off 17 employees blaming the unusually warm winter weather in The Empire State.   Cumberland Packing officially issued a shutdown WARN for their Brooklyn Naval Yard Sweet-n-Low ops, 335 jobs lost between May and December!  What automotive industry recovery?  In Plattsburgh, British empire Canada based bus maker Prevost Car issued a shutdown WARN, at least 55 jobs lost in April.  In Schenectady, Granite Services lost their contract with GE Power, 41 jobs lost by March.  NYC based MTV laid off an undisclosed number of people, as reported by those who were laid off.

Ohio: Florida based upscale Ruth’s Chris Steak House shutting down their 17 years old Columbus location in February “due to changing marketplace dynamics”, possibly referring to increased rent.

Oklahoma:  Inola Public Schools laid off four people and literally turned down the lights due to lack of money.  Administrators warn of more cuts.

Texas:  Sears Holdings shutting down the Longview Kmart in April, 60 jobs lost.

Virginia:  After boosting production and bringing new jobs to the area in 2015, Poland based Korona Candles laid off an undisclosed number of people, and reduced hours for employees, claiming it’s a normal seasonal thing.

Washington DC: The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the number of people finding work as information security analysts (cybersecurity) is steadily growing, yet it’s still not enough to meet demand.  Apparently the concept of cybersecurity is too vague, mysterious, or even sinister, for many people trying to figure out what type of career they’re interested in.

Global Food Crisis: No more Salmon from Europe?

At least four Norwegian salmon fishing outfits are reporting they can’t find any salmon!

Last season they claim they had to end the fishing early due to an outbreak of sea-lice infesting the fish.  The result is the fishing industry panicked and harvested way too many salmon too soon, meaning they harvested a lot of fish before they were able to spawn!

Now there are so few North Sea salmon that the price skyrocketed to 30 year-highs in the fish markets.

Walmart Hell: U.S. economic bellwether kills 16,000 jobs in 2016! Here’s the list!

Walmart admits (kinda) their sales are so bad they will shutdown 154 stores inside the United States, and another 115 around the world!  The lions share of job killing will take place in the U.S.; 10-thousand people laid off in the home country, while 6-thousand global jobs will be eliminated!   It all starts to collapse at the end of January.

Administrators gave a clue as to which U.S. Walmart stores are shutting down; stores that are within ten miles of another Walmart.

Incomplete list of job loss announcements and shutdowns.

Arizona: Sears Holdings shutting down the Glendale Kmart, no word on job losses.

California: After almost 60 years Belmont Iceland indoor ice skating rink shutting down in April.  Despite an average of 10-thousand customers per month the owners says skyrocketing operating costs (including $1-million USD in necessary upgrades if they stay open) are too much.  In Los Angeles, advertising agency CB+B eliminating 4% of their jobs due to the loss of their contract with restaurant chain Applebee’s.  Inside the hotel Montage Beverly Hills, restaurant Scarpetta shutting down sometime in Spring to be replaced with food service that can remain open all daylong.  Carpinteria based burger joint Carl’s Jr. shutdown two Canadian restaurants in Toronto, about 40 jobs lost.  Employees say they were not given a reason for the shutdowns, however, company administrators claim they will eventually open 30 new restaurants across the Great White North.

Colorado: Denver based Chipotle Mexican Grill is shutting down all its restaurant across the United States in February!  It’s blamed on the ongoing and unexplained microbial infections in numerous restaurants.  However, administrators claim the shutdown is for one day only and is basically a ‘come to Jesus meeting’ for employees about food safety (that’s right, blame the employees), never mind that Chipotle’s sales have crashed 40% in 2015!  The massive nationwide one day shutdown will massively affect sales as well.

Connecticut: Fairfield based industrial giant General Electric (GE) sold-off its home appliance business to China for $5.4-billion USD!  GE is also moving its Fairfield HQ to Boston Weak, Massachusetts.

Florida:   Professional Transportation issued multiple WARNs, 254 people becoming jobless by March!  After 16 years the Freebird music joint in Jacksonville Beach shutting down.  Originally it was a restaurant then moved to having live bands, now the new owners will turn it into a surfing themed bar.  The National Deaf Academy shutting down between March and April after being hit with lawsuits alleging child abuse (administrators refused to give an official reason).

Georgia: Sears Holdings shutting down the Milledgeville and Rome Kmarts by mid-April, no word on how many jobs lost.  In Decatur, after 13 years CoreBody gym shutting down, the co-owners blame skyrocketing rent, taxes and utility bills, as well as lack of parking spaces where they’re located.

Hawaii: Shoe store Robins shutting down in the evil GGP owned (a former employer of mine) Ala Moana Center, no other info was reported.

Illinois:  God refuses to stop the shutdown of ‘his’ Oak Park Saint Edmund Catholic School, due to crashing enrollments.   The state Department of Labor shutting down its Bloomington office blaming the federal Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act.  In Chicago, after 40 years The Alley boutique shutting down this weekend.  In Evanston, after 36 years eccentric gift store Eureka! shutting down, Bindy Bitterman the owner lamented “This is an old-fashioned freestanding shop that has gone the way of the Dodo Bird.”

Kentucky: What automotive industry recovery?  Without warning Sweden owned automotive bearing maker SFK (Svenska KullagerFabriken) shutdown their 20 years old Hebron factory, 145 jobs affected by the sudden consolidation of work to SFK’s factory in Tennessee!

Maryland: Iconic Beyda’s Lad & Lassie clothing store shutting down by February, blame property development.

Michigan:  385 jobs lost as jobs contractor British empire India owned/Canada based Minacs shuts down their Farmington Hills office!  Administrators blame it on the sudden loss of a major client.  Proof the economy sucks and families are homeless and starving! Feeding America is shutting down two food warehouses because they’re too small, administrators say they need bigger locations to meet the huge demand: “…the need has grown over the last decade…We know we have the ability to fully meet the need…To put it simply, we’ve outgrown these facilities.”-Ken Estelle, Feeding America West Michigan CEO

Mississippi:  A Tronox chemical factory shutting down in Monroe County, at least 70 contracted jobs lost by the end of the month.

Nebraska:  Grocery seller SpartanNash announced the shutdown of three Omaha area stores, under the brands Bag-n-Save and No Frills, hundreds of jobs lost!  It could be because Michigan based SpartanNash is spending $14-million USD to renovate eight other stores into their new Family Fare brand.

Nevada:  In Las Vegas, after less than six years Blackbird Studios shutting down.  Despite news media and fans claiming the artistic venue is a “critical success” the owner says she’s not making money and is several months behind on her rent payments!  Yet a third solar power panel company is getting the hell outta The Silver State (after anti solar panel regs were passed, which actually penalize homeowners for installing them).  Go Solar, a Las Vegas based company, is laying off 17 people and reducing hours for the rest of their employees.   Scott Shaw, a Go Solar exec, says that since the new anti-solar panel regulations were announced “We’ve gone from five installations a week to zero!”  Between Go Solar, SunRun and SolarCity the new anti-solar panel regulations will cause Nevada to lose about 2-thousand jobs!

New Jersey: In Moorestown, after 48 years the owner of Peter Pan Gift Shop and TR Bell Gifts shutting them both down due to crashed sales and jacked rents: “You open the newspapers and it’s coupons, coupons. People now don’t seem to be as concerned about customer service, which is what little stores offer. They’re really more concerned with price. … The little guy can’t make rent. My public service bill runs $2,500 a month. It’s a 6,000-square-foot building.”-Melody Manning

New York: Jefferson County shutting down the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) office on Fort Drum by the end of the month, blaming a shift to internet operations.  Too Big to Jail Goldman Sachs announced more job cuts, this time about 250 people will be let go by March!  Apparently the mass job losses are not connected to Goldman’s $5.1-billion USD settlement over charges Goldman rigged mortgage deals they knew would go bad!  Home decor and clothing branding company Sequential Brands Group revealed to state employment administrators that they shutdown their NYC ops last week, 134 jobs affected!  Within the past 24 hours stock analysts were boasting that Sequential Brands Group will double in value this year.  This is the same company that took over the Martha Stewart brand and killed jobs there in 2014-15.  In Manhattan’s Upper East Side restaurant David Burke Fishtail shutting down this weekend due to the greedy landlord.  News reports say it’s the third David Burke restaurant to shutdown in less than a year.  Orleans Community Health announced layoffs for Medina Memorial Hospital starting February, ObamaCare forced it to become a ‘Critical Access Hospital’ treating less patients, meaning less employees.  Netherlands based food wholesaler Ahold shutting down its Lancaster and Cheektowaga warehouse operations, 602 jobs lost by August!  Ahold joins the mass exodus from The Empire State and is consolidating warehousing to Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.   In NYC, after 12 years Fontana’s bar shutting down, the pissed owners saying “It has become increasingly hard to be an independent business in New York city without compromising your vision. Choices get made due to economic strain and we are no longer willing to bend to that pressure. We set out to operate a neighborhood rock bar and that has become economically unfeasible.”  

Ohio: More proof high-tech is not recession resistant.    Digital Works shutdown their high-tech skills training programs in Logan, Lynchburg, Middleport, Portsmouth and West Union.  The training program was started in 2013 with taxpayer funding, that taxpayer funding ended in 2015.     

More proof virtual reality and ObamaCare is not recession resistant; after four years virtual telemedicine health provider connector HealthSpot now chapter 7 bankrupt busted and being liquidated.  The plan was to set up remote kiosks in which people could access medical coverage help under this ObamaCare regime.  However, despite raising $48-million USD and building 191 kiosks, 137 of those kiosks are still sitting in storage unused!  The other 54 kiosks that were set up in retail locations, like RiteAid, are not in use.

Oregon: After only three years Go Kart Hero suddenly shutdown and began refunding members’ money.

Pennsylvania: Sears Holdings shutting down the Exton Kmart, no word on job losses.  Global legal firm Reed Smith eliminating 45 jobs, despite reporting $1-billion in revenues for 2015.  Administrators say they’re making the job cuts because the future of the economy is not looking good: “The legal industry has experienced a fundamental shift in the nature of the demand….Like all profitable businesses, Reed Smith must be attentive to market demand and industry changes and make necessary adjustments to remain competitive.” 

South Dakota:  The STAR Academy child prison laying off 47 employees in 2017.  It’s part of the state government’s plan to reduce the number of children held prisoner in an attempt to cut $32-million USD in costs over the next five years.

Texas: The Corpus Christi Army Depot announced more layoffs, contractor ManCom eliminating 46 jobs, and contractor URS eliminating 25 jobs, due to reduced taxpayer spending.

Virginia:  Sears Holdings shutting down the Cedar Bluff, Covington and Virginia Beach Kmarts by mid-April, more than 1-hundred jobs lost!   God refuses to stop ‘his’ Southern Baptist International Mission Board from eliminating 30 jobs.  It’s the result of the Christian recruitment ops’ shutdown of their Richmond Communications Center.

Washington:  Reports say Vancouver based non-profit healthcare provider PeaceHealth will layoff at least 150 employees across Alaska, Washington and Oregon by the end of the month!  It’s an attempt by PeaceHealth to remain financially viable under ObamaCare.

Wisconsin: In Racine, clothier Jos A. Bank shutting down their 13 years old Regency Mall store by the end of the month.  The store manager told local news media she was not given a reason by corporate.

Former employees who receive severance are not counted as unemployed

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) no longer issues mass layoff reports: “On March 1, 2013, President Obama ordered into effect the across-the- board spending cuts (commonly referred to as sequestration) required by the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act, as amended. Under the order, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) must cut its current budget by more than $30 million, 5 percent of the current 2013 appropriation, by September 30, 2013. In order to help achieve these savings and protect core programs, the BLS will eliminate two programs, including Mass Layoff Statistics, and all ‘measuring green jobs’ products. This news release is the final publication of monthly mass layoff survey data.”

Sears Kmart update 14 January 2016: News media grossly downplays massive shutdowns!

Bruce R. Berkowitz reportedly acquired 97,100 shares of Sears Holdings stock at the end of last week.

Mainstreamer news media are reporting that Sears Holdings is shutting down only a “handful” or “small percentage” of stores!  If you count up the shutdowns I’ve reported since 12 January 2016 you’ll know that already far more than a “handful” are being shutdown.

It was a news report I read out of Florida that stated the truth, that “100 to 120 stores” will be shutdown this year.  Sears Holdings reported that Kmart sales dropped 7.5% in 2015 (for at least one quarter of 2015).

When you read the Sears Holdings statement the administrators do not say ‘handful’, they say “very small package” and to them 120 stores is a small package compared to the almost 1,600+ stores they directly control.  And yes, even more shutdowns have been revealed by local news sources, read on.

Here’s the updated list (new shutdowns in bold) of U.S. store closings that I’ve been compiling since the end of 2011:

Arizona: The Prescott Valley Kmart shutting down by April.  No word on how many jobs lost, but one employee was quoted by local news as saying “Walmart won.”   Local news reports say there is a Now Hiring sign posted on the Kmart store front.   Reports that the Glendale Kmart will shutdown, no word on job losses. Scottsdale Sears/Great Indoors, Chandler Sears/Great Indoors. Recently revealed Arrowhead Towne Center Sears sold-off then rented back! Chandler Fashion Center Sears sold-off then rented back!

Alabama: Gadsden Kmart (50 jobs lost), Mobile Sears (at least 40 jobs lost), Auburn Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Anniston Kmart (no word yet on how many jobs lost), Birmingham Eastwood Kmart (70 jobs lost), Decatur Mall Sears (91 jobs lost), Fort Payne Kmart, Northport Kmart (68 jobs lost), Dothan Sears (68 jobs lost), Huntsville Kmart (73 jobs lost), Sears Store and Auto Center at the Bel Air Mall in Mobile (more than 100 jobs lost).

California: Anaheim Kmart shutting down, 107 jobs lost! Between March and April, the Chula Vista, San Mateo and Citrus Heights Kmarts shutting down, a total of 3-hundred jobs lost!   El Monte Sears (at least 40 jobs lost. Damien Arrula, El Monte’s economic development director, said the store manager had lied about what was going on: “The general manager of the store had just indicated to me that they were remodeling.”), two San Diego Sears (more than 80 jobs lost), Pleasant Hill Kmart (more than 50 jobs lost), Torrance Kmart, Fairfield Kmart (63 jobs lost), Lampert owned OSH taken over by Lowe’s home improvement in bankruptcy court, at least 17 of 99 stores to be closed down (935 jobs lost!), Rancho Cordova Kmart (97 jobs lost), San Clemente Kmart/Sears/Kmart on Camino de Estrella (58 jobs lost), placed on an official hit list in 2011 the Oceanside Kmart on College Boulevard finally being shut down, Banning Kmart (91 jobs lost) recently revealed that Sears Holdings is still paying rent on the abandoned property, Laguna Hills Mall Sears, San Diego Mid-City Kmart (73 jobs lost), Hemet Kmart (77 jobs lost), Oakland Sears repair center (75 jobs lost), San Mateo Kmart (82 jobs lost to an apartment building connected to public transportation), Hesperia Kmart building sold at a loss to a vulture capitalist REIT, no word on if the Kmart will be shutdown. Customers complain that the Kmart employees have a bad attitude, gee I wonder why? Yuba City Kmart (63 jobs lost), Rocklin Kmart (at least 63 jobs lost, the store had just posted “Now Hiring” signs), San Leandro Kmart (102 jobs lost), San Jose Mercury News says the El Centro Kmart to shutdown in January, the website Foursquare says the Covina Kmart is now shutdown (other sources say it will shutdown in December), Cupertino Sears and Auto Center (98 jobs lost), somebody posted on yelp* that the Diamond Bar Kmart was shutting down in December (confirmed by Armijo Newspapers), Westfield Topanga Sears (122 jobs lost), it looks like the Blythe Kmart is being slowly shutdown despite denial by Sears Holdings. San Mateo Kmart being demolished to make room for 599 unit apartment complex, as part of the the Hayward Park Caltrain Station project. Atwater Kmart (74 jobs lost), Los Banos Kmart (67 jobs lost).

Colorado: Broomfield Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Glenwood Springs Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Lone Tree Sears/Great Indoors, Longmont Sears (at least 40 jobs lost), Pueblos’ South Side Kmart (52 jobs lost), Denver Kmart (number of jobs lost have not been made public at this time, but could be at least 40), Colorado Springs Kmart at Powers and Palmer Park boulevards (57 jobs lost), Fort Collins Sears (67 jobs lost), Denver-Cherry Creek North Sears store & Auto Center (66 jobs lost).

Connecticut: Waterbury Big Kmart, Torrington Kmart (73 jobs lost), Enfield Sears Optical (no word on jobs lost), Wallingford Sears Appliance & Hardware (employees say the shutdown was a surprise, I guess they don’t read Blind Bat News), Wallingford Sears Appliance & Hardware (at least 13 jobs lost).

Delaware: Dover Kmart (at least 72 jobs lost, some reports said 100), Seaford Sears (30 jobs lost), Claymont Kmart (87 jobs lost).

Massachusetts: North Reading Sears Hardware store closed, lease not renewed, Milford Kmart (80 jobs lost), Kingston Kmart (73 jobs lost).   Braintree Kmart on Grossman Drive shutdown.  Also, the Braintree South Shore Plaza Sears store is renting out an entire floor to Ireland based Primark.   Even with the lease to Primark there is still 4-thousand square feet of vacant space in the Sears store.  The Sears at the Auburn Mall shutdown on Black Friday due to electrical fire.  The store was experiencing electrical problems, an investigation is underway.

Shakopee Kmart distribution center shutdown and sold-off for $17-million in 2013, now it’s finally getting a new tenant; snowmobile and electric cart maker Polaris Industries will rent out a fraction of the building to use as their new parts warehouse. The Kmart Plaza in Sandusky sold to “A group of investors”, no word on what will happen to the Kmart store.

Tennessee: A Memphis Sears and Auto Center (on Poplar Avenue) shutting down in April, 109 jobs lost!  Clarksville Kmart shutting down in April, 68 jobs lost.  Cleveland Kmart shutting down by mid-March, 67 jobs lost.  Antioch Sears (at least 40 jobs lost), Cleveland Sears (at least 40 jobs lost), Oak Ridge Sears (at least 40 jobs lost), Hendersonville Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Morristown Sears (about 70 jobs lost), Clinton South Kmart, Franklin Cool Springs Galleria Sears (92 jobs lost), Memphis Hickory Ridge mall Sears (job loss data not revealed), 48 years old Nashville Kmart on Nolensville Pike to close by January 2014 (57 jobs lost), Franklin Kmart (33 jobs lost), Dickson Kmart (65 jobs lost), talks in progress to end lease for Bellevue (Nashville) Center Mall Sears, Nashville Bellevue Center Sears & Auto Center (at least 44 jobs lost).

Texas: Two Sears parts and repair centers closing in The Woodlands (117 jobs lost), rebuild center in Garland (58 jobs lost), Farmers Branch Sears/Great Indoors, Houston Sears Great/Indoors, Dallas Sears home appliance parts distribution center (77 jobs lost), Simon Property Group owned McAllen Sears store & Auto Center (so far no word on how many jobs will be lost), recently revealed Palestine Sears Hometown (franchise owner quit to work as assistant manager at a local Dollar General).  Wichita Falls Sears (56 jobs lost right before Xmas).

Utah: North Logan Kmart shutting down by April, 58 jobs lost.  Murray Sears (for some reason Mormon controlled news media in Utah never reported the closure, but they reported that the building was demolished), Orem Kmart (no details reported), Woods Cross Kmart (54 jobs lost), Provo Kmart demolished in anticipation of yet another AtHome furniture store.

Vermont:The Bennington Sears Hometown Store shutdown.  Rutland Sears store & Auto Center (65 jobs lost),  South Burlington Kmart (66 jobs lost).

Virginia: The Cedar Bluff (50 jobs lost), Covington (36 jobs lost) and Virginia Beach (no job numbers reported)  Kmarts shutting down by mid-April!  The Sears Hometown Store in Culpeper shutting down by the end of the month.  Norfolk Sears (at least 40 jobs lost), Midlothian Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Richmond Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Lynchburg Sears (84 jobs lost), Fairfax Kmart (no word on how many jobs lost), Christiansburg Sears (59 jobs lost), Norfolk Kmart on East Little Creek Road (77 jobs lost), Manassas Kmart (71 jobs lost), Stafford Sears Hometown, Newport News-Denbigh Kmart (at least 50 jobs lost), Wise Kmart (58 jobs lost), Harrisonburg Kmart (79 jobs lost), Winchester Kmart (91 jobs lost), Dale City Kmart (69 jobs lost), Chesapeake Sears and Auto Center (82 jobs lost), Front Royal Kmart (88 jobs lost), Pembroke Mall Sears renting out part of their store to DSW & Nordstrom Rack, Sears Holdings say they’re still looking for a “third tenant” for their occupied space. The current nearby Sears Auto Center will be rented out to REI. Colonial Heights Kmart (113 jobs lost), Virginia Beach Hilltop Square Shopping Center Kmart (82 jobs lost).

Washington: Eatonville Sears Hometown store.  Walla Walla Sears Full line (in August 2012, it was reported that an independent owner of Sears Hometown stores will open a store in Walla Walla), Lacey Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost), Kelso Sears (47 jobs lost), Lakewood Kmart (59 jobs lost), Bellingham Sears (92 jobs lost), Seattle Kmart (85 jobs lost), East Wenatchee Sears (59 jobs lost), Puyallup Kmart (51 jobs lost), Oak Harbor Kmart (68 jobs lost), Sodo Sears and Sears Auto Center (79 jobs lost), Everett Kmart (65 jobs lost), Marysville Kmart (at least 40 jobs lost).

West Virginia: Oak Hill Kmart (59 jobs lost), Morgantown Kmart (100 jobs lost), Bluefield Sears store & Auto Center (64 jobs lost).

Wisconsin: Superior Kmart shutting down in April, 42 jobs lost. West Baraboo Sears (at least 40 jobs lost, local village officials say the store generated 3% of local tax collections), Rice Lake Kmart (about 71 jobs lost), Brookfield Kmart (56 jobs lost), Racine’s Regency Mall Sears (52 jobs lost), Fort Atkinson Kmart (51 jobs lost), Greenfield Kmart (107 jobs lost), Portage Kmart (78 jobs lost) and Hales Corner (129 jobs lost), Chippewa Falls Kmart (79 jobs lost), Menomonie Kmart (at least 50 jobs lost), Ashwaubenon Kmart recently revealed now owned by Green Bay Packers, will be torn down (80 jobs lost), Shawano Kmart (55 jobs lost), Fond du Lac Sears (42 jobs lost), Glendale Sears store & Auto Center (86 jobs lost), Janesville Kmart (70 jobs lost), Glendale Sears Rebuild center (67 jobs lost), Sheboygan Sears & Auto Center (at least 31 jobs lost), Eau Claire Kmart (93 jobs lost), Plymouth Kmart (59 jobs lost before Xmas), Sheboygan Sears Rebuild Center (30 jobs lost), Wauwatosa Kmart (103 jobs lost).

On top of that, Sears Holdings sold stores to General Growth Properties (GGP), of which it has been reported that most of those stores will be closed.

Iowa: Coral Ridge Mall (it’s official the Sears is closing, see above), and Mall of the Bluffs

Texas: The Woodlands Mall (this does not involve the two repair centers being closed by Sears)

Florida: West Oaks Mall

Utah: Fashion Place, and Provo Towne Centre (note the evil British empire way of spelling town & center. Due to a favorable lease agreement the GGP owned Provo Sears will continue to stay open under Sears Holdings management)

Oklahoma: Quail Springs Mall (it’s official, the Sears closed, see above)

Hawaii: Ala Moana Center (closed, see above)

Washington: Bellis Fair Mall (Bellingham store, see above)

Minnesota: Apache Mall (see update above, GGP will close Sears store by 2014)

Illinois: Market Place Shopping Center (see update above, GGP closing store)
