World War 3, Asian Front-Afghanistan, 07-10 May 2014: New mystery militant group invades Afghanistan! Operation Khaibar to begin! Anti-Iran action ramping up! “Successful” elections declared a failure! Second election permanently on hold?

Farah Province: In Bala Bolok District, more than 100 Mujahideen attacked police checkpoints.  At least eight people killed, dozens wounded.  Police admit the Mujahideen captured armored vehicles and weapons.  Witnesses say the battles were so intense that 12 medevac helicopters were called in.  Mujahideen claim they killed 60 Afghan police.

Ghazni Province: In Gilan District, major battles resulted in at least 63 people killed, 41 wounded.  Government officials claim 21 militants killed came from Pakistan.

Ghor Province: Two Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel killed by two explosions.  Four ANA wounded.

Herat Province: On Shindand Highway, an entire family of eight were killed when they drove over a landmine.    Is western propaganda machine, Radio Free Europe, trying to rally anti-Iranian sentiment by claiming to have interviewed two teenaged Afghan boys who were sexually assaulted by Iranian border police at a Herat border crossing?  At least that’s what dozens of anti-Iran websites are saying.  I went straight to the Radio Free Europe website and didn’t find any such report for the month of May 2014.  I did find similar reports from as far back as 2007/08, so I suspect somebody is just regurgitating old news (that was never proven) to justify anti-Iran sentiment.

Kandahar Province:  Provincial officials say they arrested six potential suicide bombers.  The officials are blaming Pakistan.  In Maiwand District, a NATO/ISAF convoy hit by two suicide bombers.  One bomber used a car, the other a motorcycle.  ISAF claims they suffered no casualties, however, Mujahideen say they witnessed NATO medevacs being called in for at least 15 casualties.

Kunar Province: Afghan Border Police claim that masked militants from Pakistan are roaming around killing people, attacking girl’s schools and even killing Afghan Mujahideen.   The Pakistani militants are also shooting at people who’re trying to retrieve the bodies of those killed.   Afghan Border Police are concerned about this new group of militants, because although they came from the Pakistani side of the border none of them seem to be able to speak local dialects.

Logar Province: In Pul-e-Alam City,  three people killed, two wounded, when they drove over a landmine.

Maidan Wardak Province: One ANA personnel killed by explosion.  In Syed Abad District, Mujahideen say they ambushed a NATO supply convoy.  The attack lasted several hours.  Mujahideen say they destroyed 22 vehicles and killed or wounded 20+ people.

Nangarhar Province:   In Jalalabad City,  a suicide bomber was arrested.  Cops claim he confessed to being directed by Pakistani ISI agents.  Provincial officials say they called in a U.S./NATO drone strike that killed seven people.   Government officials claim all seven were Mujahideen planting landmines.

Nimroz Province:  Afghan Border Patrol claim they caught Iranian Border Patrols taking pictures on the Afghan side.  Gunshots were exchanged but nobody was hurt.  Afghan government officials claim they have “resolved” the issue with Iranian officials.  There was no public explanation for why Iranian border troops were taking pictures.

Mujahideen announced that 12 May will begin their Operation Khaibar.  They will target the foreign occupiers, and anybody perceived as supporting the occupation: “The plans for upcoming spring operations entitled Khaibar have been drawn up by the specialists and courageous military commanders of the Islamic Emirate while also paying heed to the environmental and seasonal conditions of each region of the country and so will be launched in each area according to the laid out plans.”

Remember when Barack Obama, and even that pansy Ban ki-Moon, declared the recent Afghan elections a success?  Well, not only are they a failure with dozens of ballot boxes destroyed, and not one candidate gaining a majority vote, thus forcing a second election, but that second election might be permanently delayed!  The Independent Election Commission says the materials needed to hold a runoff election, between the top candidates in the first election,  were destroyed by recent suicide bombings!

Also, Independent Electoral Complaints Commission of Afghanistan revealed they are currently investigating 900 of 2-thousand reports of election fraud.  The 900 complaints being investigated have been given priority after being declared Category A, the most severe.

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is shutting down satellite operations throughout Afghanistan, and concentrating efforts in Kabul City.   U.S. Department of Defense officials said they were caught off guard by CIA’s sudden decision to pullback.

About 20 militiamen of the Army National Guard’s Bilateral Embedded Staff Team A12 (Illinois) returning home from Afghanistan.

About 100 soldiers of the U.S. Army Reserve’s 351st Military Police (Florida) departed for Afghanistan.

Chicago update 09-13 May 2014

Proof the A-10 Thunderbolt was to remain a USAF mainstay until 2040: Taxpayers spent more than $2-billion on upgrades!

16 May 2014 (13:31 UTC-07 Tango)/16 Rajab 1435/26 Ordibehesht 1393/18 Ji-Si 4712

In February 2014, USAF officials suddenly announced they wanted to kill off the venerable A-10 Thunderbolt 2 (unofficially called Warthog).  Since then many politicians, veterans, current personnel of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, and even state National Guard units (who operate the majority of A-10s) have criticized the decision as foolhardy to say the least.

U.S. Air Force weenie head bean counters claim it will save taxpayers money to get rid of the cost effective aircraft, but wait, isn’t that what they said about keeping the Tank Buster when they pushed for more than $1.1-billion USD of upgrades for the A-10, back in 2007?

Photo by AAron B. Hutchins, Pocatello Airport, September 2012.

In June 2007, Boeing was awarded a contract to build 233 new wings for the American Stuka (unAmerican Boeing then outsourced some of the work to Korean companies).  According to USAF officials back then, the upgrade would allow the A-10 to fly on until 2040, and save taxpayers about $1.3-billion in maintenance costs.

It took until February 2012 for Boeing to actually begin replacing the wings.  In September 2013, the USAF paid for another 56 wings, for a grand total of $1.2-billion (some news sources say it was $2-billion).  So why at the beginning of 2014 did the USAF decide to get rid of the A-10 after spending $1.2 to 2-billion to keep it airworthy until 2040?

But wait there’s more!  In September 2009, Boeing was paid another $4.2-million under the Thunderbolt Life-cycle Program Support (TLPS) contracts.  There are other upgrade programs being handled by Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics, and other contractors.

All these upgrade programs are supposed to be ongoing at least until 2018.

U.S. job losses & store closings 06-07 February 2014: Warmongers admit they regret reduced tax spending on wars! No more books? No more snowboards? ObamaCare kills more healthcare jobs!

Incomplete list of announced closings & layoffs.

What automotive industry recovery?  Sweden based Volvo said they lost so much money at the end of 2013 that they will now kill 4400 jobs around the world in 2014!  And that’s on top of the previous 2-thousand job cuts announced at the end of 2013!

Japan based Sony says sales are crashing so hard that they will drastically cut TV production and get out of computer production altogether.  The restructuring will kill at least 5-thousand jobs around the world.  Sony’s own analysis of the economic situation shows that there is no true recovery!

The biggest money making home health care company in the United States, Georgia based Gentiva, is shutting down 46 of its operations across the country.  Thousands of healthcare jobs will be lost!  Gentiva has been shutting down operations since 2012.   Despite being the biggest home healthcare company in the U.S. (by revenue) company officials claim they’ve been losing millions of dollars every year.  Gentiva also blamed expected future losses on Obama Care, saying Obama Care has created a “challenging rate environment”.

Alabama:  In Muscle Shoals,  Walgreens Call Center laid off “less than ten” employees.   After 50 years Loftin’s Party & Wedding Center shutdown.  The family owners blame the bad economy: “The last couple of years the economy has just not been what it used to be, and before it got really bad we just thought it was best to hang it up.”

California:  Coachella Valley Unified School District warned of 147 layoffs!  They’ve already laid off 51 employees and said they might have to layoff another 96.  School district officials admitted they are trying to avoid bankruptcy.  In Los Angeles, Ammex Entertainment killed 169 jobs!  Adobe laid off 57 employees in San Francisco and San Jose.   In Valencia, Arvato laid off 49 employees.  In Long Beach, tax sucker Boeing laid off three more employees.   In Camarillo, Solarworld laid off 59 employees.

Colorado:  In Colorado Springs, a 32 years old Kmart will shutdown in May, 57 jobs lost.  In Fort Collins, Wok & Roll Teriyaki restaurant shutdown.  The owner realized how bad the economy is when he was faced with the cost of replacing a major charbroiler: “That’s when we began seeing the handwriting on the wall…..It’s just costing so much to maintain that it’s not worthwhile anymore.”-Stephen Moritz

Connecticut: The newspaper New Haven Independent laid off ten employees.  Company officials said it was because of their move toward digital, however, at least two of those laid off were long time journalists.

Florida:  In Sunrise, tax sucker General Dynamics shutting down its factory, 56 jobs lost.  Company officials actually stated they were saddened by the reduced Obama regime spending on war: “It all has to do with winding down a decade of war and changing budgets. We regret it very much.”-Carol T. Smith

Illinois:  In Sterling, yet another victim of the ongoing Hallmark shutdown.  After 40 years Kirlin’s Hallmark shutdown, 13 jobs lost.

Maine: In East Millinocket, Great Northern Paper killed 212 jobs, or the majority of its employees!  Company officials say they are trying to come up with a plan to handle increasing costs and reduced revenues.  They did not file an official WARN.

Maryland: Too Big to Jail Columbia Bank shutting down five offices by April.  Anheuser-Busch beer distributor Winner Distributing laid off 125 people!  Baltimore County officials say they were not told why, other than it sounds like the operation was sold to an unknown buyer!

Michigan:  After more than 40 years the Swartz Creek Bakery shutdown.  The property owner is selling off the building.

Minnesota:  In Duluth, web developer 50 Below laid off 20 employees.  The new owners of the company are consolidating operations.

Missouri:  In Kansas City, after 66 years Kaplan’s Fabrics shutdown.  The current owner said he tried to sell the successful high quality fabric store, but nobody was interested, and he’s not interested in renewing the lease.

New York:  State officials are shutting down four prisons, claiming a steady decline in people being railroaded into prison (since 1999).  That’s good news, unless your one of the hundreds of prison employees losing their job.  In Kirkwood, book maker Penguin Random House shutting down one of four of its distribution centers by 2015. It’s the result of the merger of Penguin, DK and Random House. Hundreds of jobs will be lost!  In Rochester, Eastman Kodak laid off two more employees.  In Lakewood, tool and die maker Premier Lakewood shutting down in May, 75 jobs lost.  In Albany County, Burton shutting down its snowboard operations and laying off 72 employees.  Company officials say the U.S. economy is so bad they are leaving and setting up shop in Austria!

North Carolina:  In Winston-Salem, after 24 years World Villages non-profit gift store shutdown.  The owners blame the ongoing bad economy saying “We did not have enough customers coming into the store.”

New Mexico: In failed police state Albuquerque, Kmart will shutdown a second store by May.  80 jobs lost.

Ohio: The Toledo Speech and Hearing Center shutdown.  35 employees laid off, 700 patients screwed over!  Officials blamed Obama Care for a decrease in insurance reimbursements and Medicaid reimbursements.  What was that about Obama Care making healthcare more accessible?

Oregon:  In Portland, upscale retailer Nordstrom announced it will shutdown it’s Lloyd Center store by 2015.  220 jobs lost!   Company officials said the store hasn’t “…performed to the level we need them to and investing in remodels to possibly make them more successful doesn’t pencil out.”

Pennsylvania:  In Pittson, book maker Penguin Random House shutting down its distribution center by 2015.  It’s the result of the merger of Penguin, DK and Random House.  Hundreds of jobs will be lost!  What housing market recovery?  In Shady Grove,  heavy construction equipment maker Manitowoc Cranes, killed 250 jobs!  Company officials blame it on crashing orders, which represent crashing building construction.

Tennessee:  In Memphis, Ashley Furniture HomeStore Outlet shutting down their Perimeter Center store in April.  Reports say the operators did not renew their lease.  ServiceMaster killed 105  positions!  It’s the result of the spinoff of TrueGreen.

Vermont: In Essex Junction, an IBM employee organization says they have internal documents warning of more massive layoffs.  At least 419 people lost their jobs last year!

Virginia:  In Newport News, Kmart shutting down by April, 81 jobs lost.

Washington:  In Vancouver, upscale retailer Nordstrom announced it will shutdown it’s mall store by 2015.   164 jobs lost!  Company officials said the store hasn’t “…performed to the level we need them to and investing in remodels to possibly make them more successful doesn’t pencil out.”

04-05 February 2014: Project K killing Kelloggs?

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.

Putin will visit China for the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia on 20-21 May.

Fukushima – WIPP – Radiation fallout: ‘Green’ cat litter caused WIPP explosion? Idaho involved? Is new False Flag Japan nuke op in the works? Wild food crops contaminated, banned from sale!

15 May 2014 (02:49 UTC-07 Tango)/15 Rajab 1435/25 Ordibehesht 1393/17 Ji-Si 4712

“I’m just dying to know why this happened and who approved it, because it was a dumb idea!”-Jim Conca, former WIPP employee

Investigators have discovered what might have created the chemical reaction explosion that “disturbed” one ton ballast/containment bags in New Mexico’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP): organic kitty litter.   This is one time that going ‘green’ was the wrong thing to do.   However, it also reveals violations of federal laws!

According to a former WIPP scientist, Jim Conca, it looks like sometime after 2010 the inert clay type cat litter (absorbent) normally used was switched to organic cat litter.  The problem is that the ‘organic’ cat litter is made from things like wheat, corn, paper, sawdust, and reacted with fumes coming from the 55 gallon mixed waste drums.

It turns out that kitty litter was being used to absorb and cover-up any liquid waste, because it is illegal for any liquid waste to be stored at WIPP!!!  This also suggests officials knew the drums contained liquid waste.  The fumes from the liquid waste escaped and mixed with the active organic kitty litter, possibly causing the “chemical reaction”.

Investigators also found melted metal and rubber in the Panel 7 area.  Plutonium is one of the isotopes that was leaked into the air.   WIPP accepts nuke waste from three sources: Los Alamos, Idaho National Laboratory and Savannah River.  Investigators said they think they know who sent the illegal waste, but refused to name names.

Researchers in the United States claim they’ve discovered a drug that could prevent radiation poisoning.   It involves a drug being tested for treatment of blood aliments.  Doctors hope to use the drug on people undergoing radiation treatments.  But wait, don’t get too excited.  Turns out the drug only seems to prevent radiation absorption within the first 24 hours of exposure.

Speaking of drugs to prevent radiation contamination.  In Japan the national government suddenly became concerned about the stockpile of iodide pills in Niigata Prefecture.  Please note that news media continue to incorrectly call them iodine pills.

Niigata Prefecture is home to Kashiwazaki Kariwa nuclear power plant, which is run by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCo, yep the same ones who run Fukushima Daiichi).  Inspectors discovered that prefectural officials still haven’t stockpiled the required 1.3 million iodide pills, that were part of a national government order back in January of this Gregorian year!

It’s not just Niigata, 23 other prefectures are being investigated for compliance with the January iodide order!

Fukushima Prefecture has banned seven wild food crops from being harvested or sold, due to high levels of contamination!  A total of 16 varieties of wild crops are contaminated!

Many wild plants are regular food sources in Japan, but now, three years after the Fukushima nuke disasters, at least three types of wild crops are totally soaked in radiation: 700 becquerels in fiddleheads, 430 becquerels in bracken and 460 becquerels in Japanese spikenard!

The official Japanese government safe limit is only 100 Bq per kilogram of radiation.

Fukushima government officials say most of the radiation contamination is in the forests to the west of Fukushima Daiichi.  This is a dilemma, because the predominant winds are to the east or north, into the Pacific Ocean.  So why do high levels of radiation continue to show up to the west of the melted out nuke plant?

Also, independent testing shows that the groundwater that flows under Fukushima Daiichi, from the west, is already contaminated despite what TEPCo says.  I’ve postulated before that whatever is contaminating the mountains is contaminating the groundwater, before it hits the nuke plant.

Japan’s Environment Ministry says 16 municipalities have failed to meet decontamination deadlines.  The main reason is that radiation contamination was much worse than originally reported!

New Mexico compromised!

4500 block of South Wabash Avenue:  24 years old man shot in the butt, he’s in stable condition.

4700 block of South Wabash Avenue: A man was shot and didn’t even know it. Police claim the man walked for a couple of blocks before realizing he had been shot. It was a grazing wound on his back. The shooting happened as the man passed a funeral being held at a neighborhood church.

100 block of South Pulaski Road:  25 years old man shot by drive by shooter.  He was hit in the arm and chest and is in serious condition.

9500 block of South Woodlawn Avenue:  Three males shot and wounded by drive by shooters.  They were taken to hospitals by friends.

1200 block of West Touhy Avenue:  Two men in their 30s were eating BBQ in a city park when drive by shooters shot them.  They are both in hospitals.

10400 block of South Wentworth Avenue: A male and female were shot and wounded, no other details.

11500 block of South Eggleston Avenue:  A man reported to police that he’d been shot in the hand by a drive by shooter.

3400 block of West 24th Street: Four men attending a family cookout were shot by a single gunman.  They are in stable condition.  Chicago Tribune reports that one of the witnesses said the shootings “Ain’t nothing new.”

I did not list all shooting reports, because the details of shooting victims sound suspiciously similar, even though street locations are different.

The latest local news reports say police have made no arrests.  Police say there is a gang war going on.  Apparently the police aren’t going to take action, possibly hoping the gang bangers kill each other off, but a lot of unarmed people are getting shot.

Obama regime lackey and Chicago mayor, Rahm Emanuel, announced the start of a new offensive called operation Put the Guns Down.  Emanuel didn’t quite explain how it was supposed to work: “We do policing. We do prevention. We do penalties. We also need parenting. We’re going to add a fifth P today; pop culture.”

Apparently Put the Guns Down is a propaganda operation requiring Chicago radio show hosts to demand the population relinquish their guns.  Please note that all the shooting victims were unarmed!

Chicago update 07-08 May 2014

U.S. job losses & store closings 04-05 February 2014: Project K killing Kelloggs? Big Bank Blowouts! More healthcare & school cuts!

Incomplete list of announced closings & layoffs.

It was revealed by inside sources that Radio Shack will shutdown at least 500 U.S. stores by the end of 2014!

Furr’s Fresh Buffet restaurant chain now chapter 11 busted.  2-thousand jobs affected!  There are Furr’s restaurants in New Mexico, Arizona, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.  Company officials blamed lack of operating loans and even climate change: “….challenges facing our industry and the liquidity constraints due to our indebtedness and the recent ice storm, we need to explore options to restructure our debt, recapitalize and position ourselves for future growth.”-Barry M. Barron Sr, CEO

Andrew Carnegie founded United States Steel (USS) killed 175 jobs in Canada!  Company officials said it was part of the plan to cut the costs of their operations around the world.

It’s been reported that U.S. Too Big to Jail banks shutdown more than 1400 offices in 2013!  The fat cats blame slow revenue growth and the cost of complying with government regulations (complying with regulations, yeah right!).  More shutdowns are planned for 2014.

Alabama:  In Courtland, International Paper continues its shut down of their factory, 500 jobs being killed!  When the shutdown is complete 1100 jobs in total will be lost!

California:  In San Mateo, it’s being reported by inside sources that two years old digital media company Avos is shutting down its HQ and laying off 80% of employees.

Colorado: In Denver, a longtime Kazoo Toys store shutdown.  The owner blamed it on greedy landlords and lack of parking for customers.  The Kazoo Toys store at the International Airport is still open.

Florida: In Lauderdale by the Sea, after more than 30 years Jo-an’s Papers & More shutdown.  The owner blamed paperless communications, although she admitted her sales didn’t start crashing until the ‘great recession’ began in 2008, so maybe it’s really the overall bad economy.  In fact, Barbara Winston Hansen said her sales dropped 50% in 2008, and never recovered.

Hawaii: In Kailua, after 17 years the Alpha Video store shutdown.  The owner blamed increasing rent and decreasing sales.

Illinois:  In Monmoth, Olivia’s Cookie Jar and Kitchen announced it will shutdown this year.  Owner, Rae Connolly, told local news media it was because of the suck ass economy.  Kankakee County warned of layoffs.  It’s blamed on controversial tax sharing deals with city officials.  But even officials in the Chicago area are accusing the county of stealing their tax revenues.

Indiana:  Hoosier Park Racing & Casino laid off 13 employees, due to a steady decline in revenues.

Iowa: In Bettendorf, another victim of the secret plan to shutdown all Hallmark gift stores: After 54 years Kile’s Hallmark shutdown, nine jobs lost.

Michigan:  The troubled and possibly thieving Saginaw School District warned of school shutdowns in order to save money.  The District is already being sued by one of its own board members, is already in the hole by $6.1-million USD, and last year it was forced by state officials to take over and shutdown the Buena Vista School District.  And even though Buena Vista School District is dead, the local residents are still forking over local school taxes to pay off $6-million in District debt!  I’ve written this before: Michigan is a failed state.

New York:  Too Big to Jail M&T Bank shutting down ten offices.  Key Bank warned of more closures.  Key Bank already shutdown 81 offices in 2013.  Its reported that publisher Time will kill 500 jobs this year (which is about how many jobs they killed last year)!  Utica City School District killing 94 jobs.  The District is in the hole by $6.4-million!  And this is despite the fact that the District is one of the rare few that actually has increasing student enrollment!   In Bronx, Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) CHOICE Community Care laid off 37 employees.   In NYC, Visiting Nurse Service of New York Home Care laid off six employees.

North Carolina:  In Charlotte, Kellogg shutting down its Famous Amos, Austin Sandwich Creme and Iced Animals factory, 195 jobs lost!  Kellogg has been shutting down factories in Australia, Canada and United States, but shifting production to southeast Asian countries under a operation called Project K.  After 48 years Arnold’s Family Restaurant shutdown, the co-owner said “It just feels like it’s time.”

Texas:  Copperas Cove Independent School District killing 75 jobs.  The district no longer qualifies for the federal Heavy Impact Aid, which equates to a $12-million loss.  The aid is for schools located near federal installations like military bases.  However, 35% of the student population must meet certain qualifications, and apparently declining enrollment has resulted in not enough students to meet that 35% requirement.

Washington:  In Oak Harbor, the Kmart will be shutdown by April, 68 jobs lost.

Washington DC:  Howard University laying off 200 employees over the next few months!  The jobs are being outsourced.  University employees protested, but of course they were ignored.

Wisconsin:  A Kmart in Menomonie and a Kmart in Chippewa Falls  to shutdown, at least 100 jobs lost!  Product design and development firm Red Fusion Studios shutting down.  35 jobs lost, and many employees did not want their names made public because they believe it will prevent them from getting a new job!  It’s blamed on the loss of their biggest client, who without warning pulled funding: “Koss is pulling its funding and as they pay on the first of the month, RFS will not have the funds to make payroll on the 3rd….I am truly sorry. This has been a complete surprise to me……..”-Michael Pelland, Red Fusion CEO

01-03 February 2014: Massive Dollar store shutdown blamed on ObamaCare!

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.

“Our ideals and principles, as well as our national security……..That’s what makes America different. That’s what makes us exceptional.”-Barack Obama, 10 September 2013

Exceptional Failed State: Sears & Kmart closings ramping up! Going “backwards” is the new ‘forward’!

11 May 2014 (13:30 UTC-07 Tango)/11 Rajab 1435/21 Ordibehesht 1393/13 Ji-Si 4712

Eddie Lampert has announced more stores to be closed down, some reports say as many as 500 more!  The Chicago Tribune reports that since 2010 at least 305 stores have been shutdown.  Lampert stated “sometimes you need to go backwards to go forwards.”

Two more Michigan Kmarts shutting down, by mid-July.

In California, the owner of Laguna Hills Mall has bought out remaining portion of the lease for Sears.  The Sears has been there since 1973, but will now shutdown in July.  The mall owner wants to tear everything down and build a “promenade-style urban village”.

Fukushima – WIPP – Radiation fallout: New Mexico compromised! More lies revealed at Fukushima! Increasing cancer rates in Massachusetts?

11 May 2014 (00:47 UTC-07 Tango)/11 Rajab 1435/21 Ordibehesht 1393/13 Ji-Si 4712
“The scientific research base shows that there is no threshold of exposure below which low levels of ionizing radiation can be demonstrated to be harmless or beneficial.  The health risks – particularly the development of solid cancers in organs, rise proportionally with exposure.  At low doses of radiation, the risk of inducing solid cancers is very small.  As the overall lifetime exposure increases, so does the risk.”-Richard R. Monson, Harvard School of Public Health

“A preponderance of scientific evidence shows that even low doses of ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays and X-rays, are likely to pose some risk of adverse health effects….”-National Academy of Sciences, 2005 press release

In Massachusetts, U.S.A., near the Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station the Massachusetts Cancer Registry confirms dense levels of cancer. Between 2002 and 2009 there was a 95% chance of developing leukemia, if you lived in the towns of Carver, Duxbury, Kingston, Marshfield, Pembroke, Plymouth, and Plympton.

The Registry also revealed the majority of cancer cases in the Bay State can be found in the above mentioned seven towns, which reside in the shadow of the Pilgrim Nuclear facility.  Contamination has been a problem for awhile now. A 1982 survey showed cesium-137 levels in local milk was 1-million times higher than expected!  The nuclear power plant operator blamed it on Chinese nuclear bomb tests on the other side of the world.

The Pilgrim Nuclear Generating Station was designed by GE (General Electric) and built by Bechtel.  It uses boiling water reactors (BWR) similar to those used at Fukushima Daiichi.

In Missouri, U.S.A., after residents paid for their own radiological testing of soil around a landfill containing nuclear waste, the U.S. EPA is now going to conduct their own testing.

The Boston Chemical Data Group says soil samples showed the Bridgeton Athletic Complex, and a nearby ditch, are highly contaminated.  The laboratory also warned that nobody should use the park until the EPA gets involved.  The EPA and the nut-less city of Bridgeton (which has repeatedly told concerned residents to blow off) will conduct testing on 19 May.

In New Mexico, U.S.A., the state’s Environment Department Secretary, Ryan Flynn, is calling for the total shutdown of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).  Flynn made the statement after Jim Blankenhorn, the Nuclear Waste Partnership Recovery Manager, said WIPP will be closed for at least three years.  Flynn says so far the federal investigators are making their claims based on pure guess work, kind of like what’s been happening in Japan: “We need to know what happened. We absolutely need to know. But we need to make decisions based on facts!”

In Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, yet another study that says Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCo) is flat lying about radiation contamination levels!  Fukushima University’s Institute of Environmental Radioactivity reporting that actual cesium-137 levels are at least 50% higher than what TEPCo has reported!

Last week the TEPCo’s manager of the clean up at Fukushima Daiichi, Ono Akira, revealed that all efforts to stop ongoing contaminated water leaks have failed: “It’s embarrassing to admit, but there are certain parts of the site where we don’t have full control.”
