Summer AutoFest: Ole Blue Redo.

Reborn 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe, after surviving the fields of Lava.

The fields near Lava Hotsprings, Idaho, that is.  A married couple decided to revive the rusting hulk, because it reminded them of the car they used to go a-courtin’ in (which is why they had to get married, shhh).

Family and friends from across Eastern and Southeastern Idaho helped with the project.  The couple is no longer among us ‘living’ folk. Here’ my video:

In 2024, after some time sitting around, Ole Blue went to a new couple who has fun putting around in the early Cold War survivor.

Phil Meador inaugural Summer AutoFest, with dozens of show quality vehicles inside the mall, and more vehicles outside the mall.  Held on the 24th through 25th August 2024, at the Pine Ridge Mall in Chubbuck, Idaho.  The event was organized by the Pocatello Car Club, with assistance from the Idaho Classic and Modern Muscle car club.

Summer AutoFest: When does getting a ‘D’ equal getting ‘100’?

Summer AutoFest: When does getting a ‘D’ equal getting ‘100’?

In grade school getting a ‘D’ was approaching failure, but not in the kool old-skool system, getting a D could be the same as getting 100!  A 1970 Dodge D100, that is.

1928 Ford, originally purchased in Oakland, California, on 20JUN1928, for a whopping price of $865 (including extras, and after a $10 deposit was paid)!

During The Great Depression that followed the original sale of this car, Ford Model As (and Model Ts) became true survival vehicles for people fleeing the murderous Dust Bowl for new life on the West Coast.  The car is now owned by one of the sponsors of the car show, here’s my video:

Summer AutoFest: Death proof?

Summer AutoFest: Death proof?

1972 Chevy Nova SS.

“This car belonged to the young man’s uncle. When the uncle passed away, it went to his brother. It sat in a shed for 40 years and the young guy wanted it so badly. Finally, the second uncle let him take it. Needless to say, after sitting so long it needed lots of help. He started with the engine compartment, putting lots of time and dollars into it. But, being a father to a young family, funds are limited. He was so thrilled to finally get it up and running and bring it to the show. He has great aspirations for this car, lots of memories of the family history and a real desire to bring it back to its original state.”-Jan Castor, Classy Car Club
