The UGM (Underwater-launched Guided Missile) Polaris Sales Agreement allows the two countries to share nuclear technologies, in the name of a joint defense against a common enemy.  During the non-declared Cold War the enemy was the Soviet Union, today it is Communist China, North Korea and Russia.

In 1982, the Polaris Sales Agreement was amended to include the UGM Titan-2 Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM).

A UGM-27 Polaris SLBM is launched from the British nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine HMS Revenge (S 27).

In 2006, the Polaris Sales Agreement was amended again; the U.S. and U.K. will jointly develop a new SLBM.

On 08JUN2017, Nikki Haley visited Israel’s Golan border in the north next to Syria, then the Gaza border in the south where she toured the Kerem Shalom border crossing, and then inspected a so-called Hamas terror-tunnel.  It should be noted that Israel was allowing Kibbutzim (collective towns/farms) to be established in these areas. ‘Great Power Competition’: Mountain West Militia’s code phrase for 3rd World War!

Now, at the beginning of February 2024, the commander of the Utah Air and Army National Guard used a new phrase (code words?) for World War Three; the ‘great power competition’: “As we engage in great power competition, it is crucial that we innovate and optimize our force. We must adapt and change how we train and fight; conflict against China will be very different from any battle we’ve ever had. We must aggressively push new and sometimes uncomfortable tactics to win. This exercise lets the warfighters push their limits to create and perfect capabilities they need to deter and defeat our adversaries.”-Major General Daniel Boyack, Adjutant General of the Utah National Guard

‘Mountain West Militia’ members from Utah Air National Guard’s 151st Wing, and the Air Force Reserve’s 419th Fighter Wing, took part in Exercise Perses, during the first weekend of February.

The training event involved transporting munitions (such as AIM 120 missiles) for fighter aircraft, as well as aerial refueling of F-35s from Hill Air Force Base, in Utah.

At the end of January 2024, the Utah Army National Guard also took part in Exercise Perses, using their UH-60 Black Hawks to sling-load supplies.

Cold War & Beyond: Polish BAT-M, Warsaw Pact engineer vehicle now used by NATO!

Cold War: Approximately 1947 (due to U.S. President Harry Truman’s Truman Doctrine) to 1991 (Operation Desert Storm, collapse of Soviet Union).

Based upon a backwards Soviet T-54/55 battle tank chassis/lower hull, the BAT-M (бульдозер артиллерийском тягаче модернизированный, Bulldozer Artillery Tractor-Modernized) is basically a bulldozer, but western/NATO military analysts prefer to call it by the more mil-speak sounding title of ‘route clearing vehicle’.  The lower hull of the T-54/55 was rotated so that the power pack (motor/transmission) and drive sprockets were at the front of the vehicle.  It uses a manually operated transmission.

The BAT-M crew-cab is a widen/modified ZIS truck cabin. Supposedly 35-thousand were built by 1979, when production stopped. Today, most are rusting away, some are for sale.

Beyond: Post Cold War, Balkan Wars, War on Terror, Battle for Ukraine, 1992 to present.

Former Warsaw Pact-Poland becomes NATO-Poland in March 1999, despite a February 1990 promise by the United States Secretary of State, James Baker, that NATO would not expand “one inch eastward”.

On 25JAN2024, B-1B bombers based on Ellsworth Air Force Base (AFB), South Dakota, were re-deployed to one of my old alma maters, Dyess AFB in Texas, in a ConUS-to-ConUS (Continental United States) mission.  On 29JAN2024, local South Dakota news media were told it was to facilitate the investigation into the recent crash of a B-1B:

In actuality, the South Dakota Lancers joined the Texas 7th Bomb Wing Lancers in the ‘First Tier’ strikes against targets in Syria and Iraq.

A so-called Denton Program fire truck is loaded onto a C-17, for delivery to Guatemala. While the fire truck supposedly came from charity, the U.S. Air Force (USAF) C-17 flight is taxpayer funded. The Denton Humanitarian Assistance Program is not an independent charity but a taxpayer/’donation’ funded operation of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Agency for International Development (USAID). On 26JAN2024, the Governor of Idaho continued to support Texas by sending two teams of Idaho State Police troopers to the Texas-Mexico border.  Governor Brad Little also declared January to be ‘Stand with Texas’ month.

On 19JAN2024, the Oregon Army National Guard’s Detachment 1- Company Alpha-1st Battalion–112th Aviation returned home from a 12 months deployment with other National Guard personnel from Idaho, North Dakota, Montana and Wisconsin, in helping to patrol the Texas/Mexico border.  The unit used UH-72 Lakota helicopters to conduct 385 missions during the day and at night, accumulating more than 1-thousand-825 flight hours patrolling the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo sectors.  Video of demobilization ceremony by Major Wayne Clyne:

On 11JAN2024, Oklahoma Army National Guard’s Charlie Company-1st Battalion (Assault Helicopter Battalion)-244th Aviation Regiment-90th Troop Command is training on Fort Hood (now officially called Fort Cavazos), Texas, for deployment to Kosovo, to support the larger deployment of Georgia Army National Guard’s 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Despite the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment-separation of church and state, on 12JAN2024 the Ohio Army National Guard held a deployment ceremony in the First Christian Church, for the deployment of their 1137th Signal Company.  The 1137th will provide installation, recovery, repair and maintenance of telecommunications networks in The Middle East.

On 21JAN2024, more than 150 militia personnel with Arizona Army National Guard’s 856th Military Police Company conducted a deployment ceremony on Bushmaster Field in Phoenix.  The unit is deploying to The Middle East.

29JAN2024, local Arizona news reporting Arizona National Guard might have been wounded by the attack in Jordan.  A KTAR report said a not-yet known number of Arizona National Guard members were wounded in the attack, according to Major General Kerry Muehlenbeck. Including the Arizona National Guard, there was a total of 350 state National Guard personnel on the outpost. 

The Arizona Army National Guard deployed a unit to The Middle East in February 2023. Note in the TV report the famous-last-words stated several times; “We hope they have fun.” :
