“Dear customers…we have closed our doors…” Corporate America uses Fed debt financing to buy their own stocks & each other! : U.S. Job Losses & Closings 13 – 14 September 2015

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

“….over the past three years, we’ve seen more than a trillion dollars of issuance each year. And it’s accelerated each year as they try to take advantage of cheap borrowing costs.  They’ve used that money to fund buybacks and also to purchase other companies in what’s been a record wave of mergers and acquisitions.”-Eric Platt, Financial Times explaining to PBS Newshour how unAmerican Corporate America has been using the zero interest rate debt financing they’ve been getting from the Federal Reserve, none of it used to create jobs!

Arkansas: Energex is halting hollow steel structure manufacturing at their Atlas Tube factory, again: “We did idle the plant in April but we did not expect to be down more than 30 days. We expect this to be longer. We will idle the equipment by the end of September.”

Historic and iconic, after 89 years no more Green T in Idaho!

Idaho:  After 89 years (surviving the Great deflationary Depression and numerous recessions) Chubbuck’s iconic Green T Bar & Grill (aka Green Triangle) shutdown suddenly.  The property, which has been in operation as the Green T decades before the city of Chubbuck was even created and included customers like U.S. President Harry Truman (the guy who nuked Japan), Vice President Hubert Humphrey and Willie Nelson, was sold and supposedly will be turned into three fast-casual restaurants.  Green T memorabilia will be auctioned-off on 01 October.  Mayor Kevin England views the destruction of the last of Chubbuck’s historic landmarks (to be replaced by yet more restaurants) as “…the beginning of some real good things coming in.”   Yeah that’s what we need to save our local economy, more restaurants.

Gusau’s only ‘crime’ was doing business in New Jersey.  Who in their right mind would want to do business in New Jersey and have to pay outrageous license to operate fees when there are states that have little or no license requirements for most businesses?

False Flag or Incompetence? 3rd time in 4 months massive loss of industrial bees in Idaho!

12 September 2015 (14:54 UTC-07 Tango 01)/21 Shahrivar 1394/28 Dhu al-Qa’dah 1436/30 Yi-You 4713

For the third time in four months, millions of bees used by farmers were lost when a tractor-trailer rig flipped while driving through Idaho.  (the first two times happened in June)

A pollen encrusted bee on a sunflower in Chubbuck, Idaho.

A pollen encrusted bee on a sunflower in Chubbuck, Idaho.

This time it happened near where I live,  on Interstate 15.  The bees swarmed and caused drivers in other vehicles to crash.  A motorcyclist was stung on the head, causing him to crash.  Then a tanker truck hauling sulfuric acid crashed into a car.

I find it interesting that as bees are so important to agriculture that three major accidents involving trucks hauling bees through Idaho happened in a four months period (one in Coeur d’Alene, northern Idaho. One near Arco, eastern Idaho, and now this latest one in Pocatello also in eastern Idaho).

The owner of the bees says most will die due to their hives being destroyed.

“We just cannot continue on this road.” California city admits goal of destroying 2nd Amendment Rights! Idaho ignores its own beer/wine sales laws! Pocatello leaders lie about jobs! : U.S. Job Losses & Closings 10 September 2015

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

Alabama: Richland Golf Course shutdown: “It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce we have put Richland Golf Center up for sale.  The past fourteen years at Richland have been a true blessing…..The past few years have been rough.  Our rent has more than tripled over the last several years and it has killed us.  We just cannot continue on this road……We have met with banks, private investors, City officials, and more trying to work something out.  Our prayer is to sell the facility.”

California: In San Luis Obispo, after 30 years the owners of Costume Capers say they must shutdown after Halloween due to competition from internet and the seasonal Halloween costume shops.  Cupertino based (but incorporated in Ireland as a tax dodge) hard-disk maker Seagate announced it’s killing off 1-thousand and 50 jobs in time for Xmas!  It’s blamed on crashing computer sales.  In San Francisco, the owner of the last gun store in the city, High Bridge Arms, says the city is about to pass an unconstitutional law that will shutdown his business.  City administrators boasted that they were openly attacking the 2nd Amendment: “What we are doing is essentially closing what amounts to a loophole between federal and state law and making sure that San Francisco continues to stay at the forefront of gun control legislation in our country.”-Mark Farrell

In Bannock County the Mormon dominated Bannock Development Corporation outright lied about jobs saying “The demand is here but the workforce isn’t.”  Bullshit!  I’ve been unemployed since April (when I got laid off after the USPS shutdown their postal processing center in Pocatello on Flandro Drive).  I got no severance and the Idaho Department of Labor gave me no unemployment assistance.  I’ve got 13 years military experience, decades in retail/warehousing/delivery and six years in television, yet in the past few months I got three rejection notices for entry level jobs say I “didn’t have the qualifications they were looking for”!  Where are these jobs Bannock Development Corporation?  I’ve been told my problem is my age, I’m over 45 years old which seems to be the unwritten cutoff for hiring workers.  Most of the young adults in the area flee due to the lack of good paying jobs, so is what the Bannock Development Corporation really saying is that ‘the demand is here but the YOUNG MORMON workforce isn’t.’?

Illinois: In Washington, Tractor Supply Company shutting down its Washington Road location in October, due to “many business factors”.  The Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon shutdown after 18 years on Route 50, at least 50 jobs lost.  It’s blamed on the property owner who wants to redevelop the land.  The Top of the Hill Bait Shop in Murphysboro shutdown.

Iowa: In Shell Rock, farm equipment maker Unverferth Manufacturing joins the downsizing club: “As commodity prices have plummeted over the last year and investment tax credits have subsided, so has the demand for farm equipment. Now is a good time for me to pack it in while everything is still OK and to go out on my terms.”-Billy Meltzer

New York: In Orchard Park, after 80 years (surviving the Great deflationary Depression and numerous recessions) Eckl’s Restaurant shutting down by the end of the month.  It’s up for sale.

It was also revealed that Japan has been importing Iranian oil despite U.S. led sanctions (Japan was officially excused from those sanctions by Barack Obama).  In July they imported 158-thousand barrels per day from Iran,  a 22% increase from July 2014.

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

RestarauntNews.com has decided to charge for what Blind Bat News has been doing for free for the past few years; issue reports on how many restaurants have shutdown!

A Moneyball Economics article explains that mass layoffs continue because inventories are still too high, which means people are not spending what little money they have, which means the economy has not recovered.

Alabama: In Albertville, after 43 years the Plasticraft factory finally shutdown and will be auctioned off next week. At one time the plastics factory employed 150 people!

California: Newport Beach based Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) warned of mass layoffs after an inventory count revealed they are missing 25% of their assets, and they’re experiencing a mass exodus of investors!  Huntington Beach based (but co-owned by British empire’s Australia) surf clothier Quicksilver about to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy.  At least 80 people in California losing their jobs. The company is now in the evil hands of Oaktree Capital Management.   In Chula Vista, after almost five decades the Fun4All mini-amusement park shutdown.  The property was sold to a storage unit company.

Florida: Yet another Sunshine State restaurant shutdown for health code violations, this time the Seffner Cracker Barrel was shutdown after inspectors found raw cow meat stored over cheese sauce and at least 50 roaches.  Those are just two of the 37 violations discovered.

Illinois: Southern Illinois University (SIU) reporting what I call Disappearing Students Syndrome (DSS).  Administrators say enrollment is down 3.9% and they’ll have to layoff employees.  Because of the DSS of 697 students SIU is short $5.2-million USD.  In Streator, Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) forcing the Saint Mary’s Hospital to be shutdown by 2016 and replaced with a smaller outpatient clinic.  Most of the hospital’s 3-hundred jobs will be lost!  In Rockford, the PK Diner shutdown, the owner saying “It’s not going as well as we’d like it to.”

Kansas: Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) done in hospital Mercy Independence.  They tried to merge with another hospital chain but that failed.  2-hundred healthcare jobs now lost!   Administrators warn that they might have to shutdown their Mercy Fort Scott hospital as well.  Local news reports indicate that since ObamaCare went into effect at least 50 small town/rural hospitals have shutdown.

Kentucky: Cave City administrators killed off all hope to resurrect the Funtown Mountain amusement park, saying the owner failed to address numerous safety code violations.

Louisiana: The Gift Shoppe and The Kids Shoppe at Teche Drugs & Gifts shutdown, due to the death of one of the owners.

Maryland:  Affordable Car Act (ObamaCare) forcing taxpayer funded Dimensions Healthcare System’s non-profit Laurel Regional Hospital to end maternity care, at least 38 jobs lost. It’s part of a bigger plan to turn the hospital into a smaller outpatient clinic (which means even more job losses).

Montana: In Red Lodge, Bridge Creek Backcountry Kitchen and Wine Bar (and only server of Starbucks coffee in the town) shutting down by the end of the month.  The owners said they’re moving back to their home state of Minnesota.

Nebraska: Omaha based Union Pacific (UP) railway admitted that the number of their layoffs have increased, to 2-thousand 3-hundred!  This is a far cry from the “several hundred” UP originally announced.  It’s blamed on declining freight shipments.

New Hampshire:  The Vision Processing Technologies factory in Litchfield was taken over by Ireland based Kerry Group at the end of 2014, now it’s being shutdown, 45 jobs affected.  Interestingly, Kerry Group donated a paltry $5-thousand USD to the city.

Ohio: Cincinnati based retailer Macy’s announced it will shutdown  40 stores by early 2016! Compare that to the 52 stores Macy’s shutdown over the past five years.  Administrators blame increased competition from both brick-n-mortar ops and the internet.  In Piqua, the El Sombrero restaurant shutdown due to “circumstances beyond our control.”  In Burlington, after 15 years Look What I Found antique store shutdown due to property owner selling the property.

Livingston,  DJL Research
