Live reporters in Gaza say all Palestinian factions have united and are retaliating against Israeli air strikes by launching rockets into Israel.
Officially Israel says they’ve launched 4 air strikes against Gaza, but live reporters said they counted at least 15 air strikes.
For the second time in less than two days, Israel has attacked Egyptian troops on the Gaza border. One soldier was killed, another is in a coma.
The first attack left at least three Egyptian troops dead.
Israeli officials have been heard saying they do not consider the border with Egypt “safe” and that they will shoot anyone moving near the border.

In an interview by Christian radio host Jay Sekulow, Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann said the greatest enemy of the United States is still…the Soviet Union!?!
Bachmann isn’t the first female presidential candidate to say so. Back in 2010 failed former candidate Christine O’Donnell, told an interviewer that we were in Afghanistan to “finish the job” of fighting the Soviets. I guess the official reason that we’re fighting to prevent another 9/11 didn’t register with her.
Hello people, the Soviet Union disintegrated 20 years ago! Many of the former Soviet republics are now independent countries (mainly in Eastern Europe, some in Central Asia). The only remnants that could be possibly associated with the Soviet Union is the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).
The CIS is made up of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Here’s the problem with presidential hopefuls not understanding world history. The primary job of the President of the United States is Foreign Policy, not domestic policy (that’s the U.S. Congress).
Do you really want a President that has the mind set that we’re still living in the Cold War (1946 to 1991), with all that Mutually Assured nuclear Destruction (MAD), and people building fall out shelters, and U.S. presidents engaged in drug running to pay for covert wars in Afghanistan while declaring a War on Drugs within the U.S., and stuff like that?

August 19, foreign college students are protesting in Palmyra, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, saying the U.S. State Department student exchange programs are really a form of slave labor for U.S. corporations.
Friday’s protests are focusing on the candy maker Hersey, but other companies across the United States are involved.
Foreign students say the work programs that are part of the student exchange programs, do not provide them with money to help them with money to help cover their expenses while in the U.S. going to college. Instead the corporations deduct from their pay all kinds of expenses, which leave the students with little or no money left over. Essentially companies like Hersey end up with free labor.
Exchange students had to kick back upwards of $6,000 to the California-based Council for Educational Travel USA (CETUSA).
An organization called National Guestworker Alliance is helping foreign students organize the protests, and has even got federal officials promising an investigation. This after students in New Orleans reported being “made captive” by their employers. Protests in New Orleans started on August 17, where’s the main stream U.S. media?
Most of the media coverage of these protest are in local newspapers.
Reports from Cairo saying Egyptians have surrounded the Israeli embassy, demanding the Israeli ambassador leave. Israeli planes bombed Egyptian forces on the Gaza border. Three Egyptians were killed.
Independent journalists have been tracking down where Texas Governor Rick Perry made his fortunes. Turns out one of his early investments was in one of the biggest porn video distributors, Movie Gallery.
That was back in 1995, so some Perry supporters will likely try to defend it as something that happened in the past, and he should be forgiven.
The problem is that as recently as 2006, Governor Perry actually pushed for legislation that protected Movie Gallery, and other porn companies, from lawsuits. Clearly he’s still involved in the Texas porn industry.
On one hand Perry claims to be for Christian family values, he even has support of the Christian organization American Family Association, while on the other hand is clearly making money off the porn industry. To make things even stranger, the American Family Association is actively trying to shut down the very porn distributor that Perry is invested in.
And don’t think Perry’s personal financial activities aren’t affecting what happens in his administration. Here’s what a Texas newspaper said, in 2010, about Perry’s state Film Commissioner, Bob Hudgins: “Gov. Rick Perry’s outgoing director of the Texas Film Commission has been allowed to stay on the job despite being disciplined for sexual harassment in 2009 and after a subsequent investigation found similar behavior again this year.”-The Statesman

President Hugo Chavez wants all of Venezuela’s gold now held in European and U.S. banks to be returned.
It would be the largest physical movement of gold in recent history. Some reports say it would involve U.S.$11 billion in gold.
The demand for Venezuela’s gold to be returned, comes after Chavez announced that the government would nationalize all gold mines in Venezuela.
The intent of nationalizing their gold industry is a precursor to creating money backed by gold: “We are going to nationalize gold and turn it into foreign exchange reserves…”-Hugo Chavez
Japan says it will offer less developed countries money, and other aid, to help them develop infrastructure and industries, in exchange for exclusive mining rights for rare earth minerals.
China has been using the same tactic for decades. Japan says they’re adopting such a policy in order to compete with China.
Rare earth minerals are used in high tech products like cell phones and hybrid cars. Because of the rapid development of high tech devices, and the increasing global dependence on them, rare earth minerals could become the “oil” of the 21st century.
August 18, Taliban claim they launched a truck bomb attack on U.S. Gardez base, killing 27 U.S. troops.
Official U.S. media reports say only two Afghans were killed. The U.S. media has proven over and over that it can not be trusted.
Witnesses say the explosion was “huge” and destroyed a U.S. helicopter as well.
Since the beginning of August the Afghan Mujahideen have escalated their attacks on NATO forces. This despite President Obama saying the Taliban were on the decline. August is looking like it will be the deadliest month for U.S./NATO forces.
August 19, the first shipment of Iranian crude oil has been sold on Iran’s Bourse Organization/Kish Commodity Exchange. 500,000 barrels of heavy crude oil were sold.
Iran’s Bourse was created in 2008 for the specific purpose of selling oil using any international currency, other than the U.S. dollar. Up until now, the Bourse/Kish exchange was selling only oil-derived products, things like plastics and pharmaceutical supplies.
This is the real reason the United States wants to attack Iran, it was the real reason the United States invaded Iraq. If you remember Saddam Hussein announced that Iraq was no longer going to accept the U.S. dollar for its oil sales. Suddenly the U.S. was claiming that Iraq was connected to the 9/11 attacks, and that they had weapons of mass destruction (all since proven to be lies).
