Yet another oil company claims to be in trouble. Canada based Tuscany International Drilling filed chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States. The oil company claims to have lost a crap load of money last year, and is now $237-million USD in debt!
For profit college Bridgepoint killing 117 jobs due to crashing student enrollment! The cuts will take place on campuses in California, Colorado and Iowa.
After 25 years Yankee One Dollar stores have failed and will close its remaining 25 stores in New York, Vermont and Massachusetts. About 200 jobs lost! Company officials admitted they started losing sales five years ago, but the final straw is Obama Care forcing the company to pay for expensive insurance: “I’m the only retailer in 25 years that hasn’t raised their prices. Swiss based legal drugs pusher Novartis announced 4-thousand more job cuts around the world, on top of those recently announced! Novartis has been getting into trouble around the world, because most of its drugs do not work! In Japan whistleblowers revealed that so called independent university studies on Novartis drugs were actually done by Novartis employees!
Alabama: In Montgomery, after 20 years of food and car shows Flip’s restaurant shutdown. The owner blames skyrocketing insurance rates after an arson fire.
California: In Glendale, video game maker Disney Interactive laid off several hundreds of employees! It’s blamed on the company’s inability to generate big profits. In Carlsbad, the Hot Dog On A Stick restaurant chain is now bankrupt, 93 restaurants affected. In Chula Vista, Target shutdown, 117 jobs lost! In Cypress, Time Warner Cable laid off 72 employees. In Panorama City, Ricon laid off 42 employees. In Norwalk, Asplundh Construction laid off 83 employees. In San Diego, Karl Strauss Brewing laid off 67 employees. In Los Angeles, NBCUniversal laid off another four employees. In Sunnyvale, Bayer Health Care laid off 34 employees. At Camp Pendleton, tax sucker PKL Services laid off 37 employees.
Connecticut: In Mashantucket, Craftsteak Foxwoods shutdown, 54 jobs lost.
Florida: White Springs Agricultural Chemicals shutdown, 350 jobs lost! God refused to stop the shutdown of Wellington Christian School, 50 jobs lost. The Christian parents are pissed saying “Terrible. Out of the blue. Nothing. Just an e-mail to everybody. It was very upsetting.” Another parent says they just busted their butts raising donations to save the school, and now they want that money back: “Sure, well, I don’t know about that honestly in terms of the last few days, but if the money was designated to save our high school that money should be returned to our families!” However, greedy church officials now say that money is staying with the church! The “interim” pastor says he wants to sell off the school property! In Clearwater, the largest paintball maker in the world, KEE Action Sports, shutdown U.S. production. 109 jobs lost as the company outsources its work to other countries! In Leesburg, Target shutdown, 82 jobs lost. In Boca Raton, Global Tower Partners killed 62 jobs. In Tampa, British empire run child prison G4S Youth Services/Riverside Academy shutdown, 130 jobs lost!
Illinois: In Galesburg, Sears will shutdown in May, 46 jobs lost. In Franklin Park, Philips Lighting Company laid off 81 employees.
Indiana: In Mishawaka, the Save A Lot grocery store shutdown. Company officials blame the bad economy: “After having invested significant marketing and promotional support for the store, as well as fielding a great management and staff team, we’ve come to the realization we cannot anticipate a time when we will generate adequate sales to justify continuing operations.”
Michigan: In Ann Arbor, after at least 64 years Blue Front party store shutdown. The owners gave no reason for why they went out of business, perplexed city officials said the store was up to date on tax payments. In Detroit, American Red Cross Detroit National Testing Lab shutdown, 118 jobs lost!
Missouri: What automotive industry recovery? The Dave Sinclair Lincoln Mercury dealerships now bankrupt. It’s blamed on legal disputes with a Texas company.
New Hampshire: In Exeter, after 16 years the Jai Anlyn clothing store shutdown. The owner said she realized that expensive clothes don’t sell fast enough, or in large enough quantities to pay the bills.
New York: Two more Kmarts shutting down. The CEO of Kaleida Health and Great Lakes Health Systems quit his job, as other company officials warned of massive job cuts. Hospital officials said they must make drastic changes, because of Obama Care, that will affect its five hospitals and 13-thousand employees! Already in December they killed 100 jobs! In Rochester, Adecco Group shutdown, 75 jobs lost. In Binghamton, SOURCECORP shutting down, 171 jobs lost!
New Jersey: In Westfield, after only two months upscale Grädde Swedish Restaurant shutdown! The owners said screw this and are moving back to Sweden!
North Carolina: Elizabeth City State University wants to kill 65 jobs. The interim chancellor says the university must cut costs by $3.7-million USD per year!
Ohio: In Cleveland, United Airlines will shutdown operations and kill 470 jobs: “Our hub in Cleveland hasn’t been profitable for over a decade, and has generated tens of millions of dollars of annual losses in recent years. We simply cannot continue to bear these losses.”-Jeff Smisek, CEO
Texas: In Round Rock, computer giant Dell announced it will kill 15-thousand employees around the world, on top of on going job cuts! Its being blamed on the new owners of Dell, who took the company ‘private’. Those new owners apparently feel the computer market is crashing and Dell must radically downsize (“restructure”).
Washington: Upscale Madison Park Conservatory restaurant shutdown.
Wisconsin: In Racine, God refused to stop the shutdown of Christian bookseller Treasures Media. The owner says he will try selling on the internet. In Milwaukee, Diversified Machine shutdown, 218 jobs lost!
Wyoming: In Gillett, after 40 years Mike’s Hardware shutdown. The owners blame it on road construction that killed customer traffic.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
