A fervent anti-gun activist admitted that the now defunct rifle registry program in Canada, was all about taking away your guns. Heidi Rathgen, of the Coalition for Gun Control, also pined for its return: “Now that the registry’s gone, its usefulness is becoming more and more obvious. It looks like the RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] is desperately searching for any piece of information that could lead them to the owners of these now-prohibited weapons, including media reports, whereas it would be child’s play to find the owners if the registry were still alive. So instead of having an efficient and practical way of tracking legal gun ownership, police have to rely on the same investigative tools they would use to track illegal guns. What a mess.”
In 2012 the registration of “non-restricted” guns was stopped. The data collected up to that point was supposed to be destroyed, however, the province of Quebec was allowed to keep their gun registration data until legal action trying to stop such data destruction is decided.
Despite the demise of the long-gun registry, ‘elected’ British empire Canadian officials have actually increased the number and type of guns that are now banned in the Great White North (hence the reason why Rathgen is pining for the return of gun registry).
That’s Canadian justice, Just for Us police state-ers!
