Between July 9th and 10th, 2023, the Northeastern U.S. state of Vermont got hit by massive rain storms, causing flash flooding. It’s not the first time Vermont has suffered flooding, the National Weather Service has a list of ‘significant’ floods going back to 1869.
The Army National Guard’s 224th Aviation Regiment/1st Battalion (which has units in Maryland, District of Columbia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia) used their UH-72 Lakota to conduct recon of the recent flood. The Vermont National Guard also distributed fans and dehumidifiers to 25 towns, as well as PVC pipe to create temporary water lines.
