Alabama: The Wiregrass Medical Center laid off another 30 employees. 30 people lost their jobs back in September. Blame Obama Care for killing hospitals: “Through the state of Alabama in the last year there have been about ten hospitals that have closed down and we did not want to be one of those coming up in 2014!”– Jim Heitzenrater, Wiregrass CEO
California: In San Diego, Salix Pharmaceuticals shutdown its Santarus operations, killing at least 200 jobs! In Brea, Alta Resources laid off 52 employees. In San Francisco, Hog Island Oyster Bar laid off 32 employees. In Santa Anna, PSS World Medical laid off eight employees.
Colorado: Intrepid Potash warned of 65 layoffs. Company officials blame Russia for causing potash prices to fall. Somehow a failed Russian-Belarus potash deal caused prices to fall.
Connecticut: After 135 years Wilcox Marine Supply shutdown! The commercial fishing supply store used to have 50 commercial fishing customers, but that dropped to only two. The owner blames the government and says he’ll make more money on Social Security: “The government is taking all my customers away…….It’s pretty sad, but you’ve got to face facts. There’s nothing I can do.”-Jeff Wilcox
Illinois: In Kankakee, legal drugs pusher Walgreens shutdown a store.
Michigan: In Battle Creek, the Air National Guard laid off 27 firefighters. It’s blamed on federal funding cuts. In Detroit, Technicolor Videocassette of Michigan laid off 200 people! In Flint, after 17 years Mormon owned Furniture Row shutdown its Denver Mattress, Bedroom Expressions, Sofa Mart and Oak Express stores! In Dearborn, after 50+ years Kiernan’s Steak House shutdown.
New Jersey: In Pennsauken Township, God can’t stop Saint Steven’s Christian school from shutting down in June. Church leaders blame it on declining student numbers.
New York: In Frewsburg, specialty metals company Keywell finally reported that they laid off 52 employees back in September.
Ohio: In Akron-Canton airport, the long time 356th Fighter Group restaurant shutdown. The owner blamed recent and continuing power outages for killing his customer base.
Pennsylvania: The Easton Area School District to layoff 56 employees. Officials need to make up a $5-million shortfall in the 2014-15 budget! Acme Markets shutdown two grocery stores in West Chester and Exton, 120 jobs lost! It’s blamed on the take over by Cerberus owned Albertsons. BC Chicken shutting down operations in Fredericksburg and Denver, 680 jobs lost!
Tennessee: Mountain States Health Alliance killed 161 jobs! It’s blamed directly on Obama Care’s “significant reimbursement cuts and volume declines”.
Texas: In Electra, Cameron Manufacturing shutting down, 121 people already laid off! Local news reports said there was no reason given for the closure.
13-14 January 2014: 1600 casino jobs killed!
The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
