U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 31 July 2014: “we simply cannot make it through another season” TARP taxpayer ripoffs continue! Coffee company says Ohio sucks & they’re getting the hell outa there! More food crisis as slaughterhouses ask “where’s the beef?”! Road work killing mom & pops! Apple kills jobs in California! More raptured students killing Christian schools (DS Syndrome)!

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

Alaska: What I call Disappearing Student Syndrome (DSS) forcing University of Alaska to shutdown the Bill Ray Center and Auke Bay bookstore, as well as kill jobs.  University officials say they’ve lost $1.4-million USD in funding this school year and are expecting to lose $2-million next school year, despite jacking up the cost to go to school (could increased employees benefits caused by Obama Care have anything to do with their financial problems? other schools have said so).

California: In Cupertino, Beats Music and Beats Electronics killing 200 jobs due to being taken over by Apple!  Thousand Oaks based legal drugs pusher Amgen announced even more job losses, this time 29-hundred people at four of their Colorado and Washington drug factories will become unemployed by the end of 2015!   Amgen has been described as one of “the least efficient” of the legal drug pushers.  In Corona Del Mar, after five years Bohemia clothing store shutdown. In Sunnyvale, Idaho based SummerWinds Nursery shutdown, but only because the greedy Californian property owner sold the land to a hotel developer (for $5-million)!  In Oakland, legal drugs maker Cerexa issued a WARN saying they are shutting down in September, 52 jobs lost.  In Palo Alto, tech company Hewlett Packard (HP) announced they were laying off 39 employees in August.  In Arcadia, Ohio based CNG and electric bus operator Foothill Transit (First Transit) issued a WARN saying they were killing 416 jobs in October! I couldn’t find any reports explaining why.  The cities of Modesto, San Bernardino and Stockton have made WalletHub’s Most & Least Recession-Recovered Cities top five list of cities least likely to recover!

Colorado: In Denver, Little Me’s children clothing store shutdown.  The angry owner blamed never ending construction: “I knew I would face many challenges in this venture, but in the twenty years that I have been shopping in Cherry Creek North, lack of foot traffic was not one that I had anticipated. It appears the construction is only going to move closer to our area and we simply cannot make it through another season like the last.”– Jennifer Riches

Florida: The Canaveral Port Authority announced it will kill 61 police jobs in October.  Those jobs will be taken over by the Brevard County Sheriff.  Port Authority officials also admitted that they had to fire four cops for stealing cash, and several others are under investigation (and who said the cops are there to serve us?).   This comes as the Port is expanding operations with funding from United Arab Emirates.  In Bradenton Macy’s shutting down, 131 jobs lost!  What housing market recovery?  In Jacksonville, yet again Too Big to Jail Bank of America killed mortgage jobs, this 13.  Bank officials told state officials they expect to continue killing mortgage jobs in the future.  By the way, bailed out banks in the Sunshine State lead the country in failures to pay back their bailout loans!  According to the Special Inspector General of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (SIGTARP) five Florida banks owe a total of $91.5-million to taxpayers!

Georgia: In Gwinnett, BrandsMart U.S.A. shutting down by the end of October, 80 jobs lost.  Turns out that being the most “environmentally conscious” retail operation doesn’t equal big sales.

Hawaii: The Kahala Shell Auto Care shop shutdown, 35 jobs lost.  The new owners will operate it as a fueling station only, blaming new land lease rules.

Idaho: In Boise, the Elk’s Rehab Center shutting down, 516 jobs lost as Saint Luke’s Health System takes over in September!  Reports say Saint Luke’s claims it needs only 400 employees to do the same job, so a net job loss of 116!

Iowa: In Des Moines, after 92 years (surviving the Great Depression & numerous recessions) Owen Crist Auto Body Service shutdown.  The family owners were bought out by property developers.

Michigan: WalletHub’s Most & Least Recession-Recovered Cities ranks the Failed State of Detroit as being the least likely of all failed U.S. cities to recover!

Mississippi: After 130 years (surviving the Great Depression & numerous recessions) God has decided to rapture all the good Christian students (or as I call it, Disappearing Student Syndrome, DSS) and shutdown the Christian Chamberlain-Hunt Academy!

New Jersey: Newark has made WalletHub’s Most & Least Recession-Recovered Cities top five list of cities least likely to recover!

New York: In Batavia, after ten years the drive thru Hot Shots Caffé shutting down in August.  The owners made it sound like they were forced to go somewhere else.  In NYC, Millennium Partners Sports Club (Reebok Sports Club) issued a WARN saying they are shutting down in October, 332 jobs lost! The company has been sold!

Ohio: In Dayton, after less than one year two Peet’s Coffee & Tea shops shutdown, and another five throughout Ohio will shutdown in August! At least 90 jobs will be lost, but company officials said their own surveys show the economy in Ohio is going down the shitter, saying their stores “…have not performed to our expectations and didn’t have a promising future outlook.”   Despite reporting profits, Columbus based Too Big to Jail Huntington Bank killed 200 jobs across six states!  A bank official implied it was because they see the economy getting worse: “Huntington has restructured a few internal functions to improve the long-term efficiency of the bank.”-Maureen Brown

Texas: In Pearland, after 37 years Pearland Furniture shutting down in August.  The owners blamed the recession and a road project that has prevented customers from getting to the store.

Wisconsin: Food producer Cargill suddenly shutdown their Milwaukee slaughterhouse, killing off 600 jobs!  Company officials blame a lack of affordable cows: “The harsh reality is that the U.S. beef cattle herd is at its lowest level since 1951, with any significant herd expansion being years away.”-company statement

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shutdown. It doesn’t count people who get a severance for being laid off.

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 29 – 30 July 2014: “I guess our season is…ending.” “They did the people wrong!” Once again, thousands of jobs killed in California! Disappearing Student Syndrome killing jobs at 5 universities in 1 state! Automotive industry continues to off shore jobs!

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

Proof we are in a Greater Depression: A new academic study says wealth inequality is double what it was during the Great Depression!  Wealth Levels, Wealth Inequality, and the Great Recession 

Qatar based Al Jazeera America warned of more layoffs for its U.S. employees.  Possibly 20 people, despite increased ratings.

Alabama: Furniture maker izzy+ announced they are shutting down their Florence factory by summer 2015, about 200 jobs lost!

Arkansas: What automotive industry recovery?  In Rogers the largest maker of aluminum wheels for cars, Superior Industries International, is packing up and moving to Mexico, 500 jobs lost!

California: San Francisco based GameSpot laid off at least six employees, as the video game company shifts more towards live game play.  Moss & Stone issued a WARN saying they’re shutting down in September, 104 jobs lost! Millennium Partners Sports Club issued a WARN saying they are shutting down in October, 189 jobs lost!  In Fresno the local ABC affiliate, KFSN, laid off 15 employees. It’s the result of the cancelation of the TV station’s involvement with Disney’s Live Well Network. In San Diego, Trius Therapeutics laying off six people in September.  In Fort Irwin (U.S. Army), taxsucker Northrop Grumman issued a WARN saying they will kill 423 jobs by October! Northrop Grumman has been killing hundreds of jobs at the U.S. Army training center since 2013, and even more layoffs are planned.  In Twentynine Palms (USMC), Alaska based taxsucking government “support contractor” Tatitlek Corporation issued a WARN saying they will kill 2562 jobs by the end of September!  The company provided actors/roleplayers, food service workers, laborers etc for the U.S. Marines’ Iraq/Afghanistan combat training “villages”.

Georgia: What housing market recovery?  The city of Sandy Springs has placed a 60 day ban on the construction of new apartments.  Apparently they think all this apartment building is getting out-a-hand.  In Atlanta, New York based advertising company BBDO laid off as many as 30 employees.  Apparently they are being replaced with new hires who’ll work for cheap.  Reports say finance tech company NCR killing 200 jobs in 2015, but company officials refused to confirm.   After more than 42 years cereal maker Kelloggs announced they’re shutting down their Columbus factory in 2015, at least 325 jobs lost!  Employees were pissed: “The way they went about it is pretty bad. They did the people wrong! A lot of these people been here 30, 40 years.”-Eugene Gilmore

Illinois:  In Oak Park, after 19 years Marion Street Grille shutdown.  The owner blamed the bad economy saying “We’re just not getting enough coming through the door.”

Michigan: In Pittsfield Township, they put up the sign then changed their mind.  Texas based Carrabba’s Italian Grill has backed out of their plans to open a restaurant, citing the suck ass economy.  Florida based LongHorn Steakhouse also backed out.

Mississippi: Obama Care causing Singing River Health Systems to shutdown two more clinics, in August.  Reports say they’ve already shutdown a third clinic.  Earlier this year auditors said Singing River was suffering from a shortfall of $88-million USD!

Nevada:  What automotive industry recovery? Reports say construction on one of two secret Tesla Motors Gigafactories in Reno was stopped.  No reason given, Tesla officials refused coment.  The Gigafactories supposedly will make lithium-ion batteries for electric cars.

New Jersey: In West Milford, after at least six decades Big John’s Pub shutting down in August.  Tracey Bennett, the owner, said “It is time for me to have a normal life without stress.”

New York: Obama Care killing 231 jobs as the Rivington House Healthcare Facility shuts down by the end of November!  What housing market recovery?  In Albany, Capital Region Multiple Listing Service showed home sales dropped 5% from June 2013 to June 2014.  Median home prices fell 6%.  Also in Albany, accounting company Pricewaterhouse announced it is shutting down in October, 40 jobs lost.  In Westbury, metal parts maker John Hassall revealed they are up for sale, 83 jobs affected.

North Carolina:  Obama Care killing jobs at Dosher Memorial Hospital.  An undisclosed number of part time and contracted workers will be laid off.  One nurse said she was told it was just the “first round” of layoffs.  Randolph County Schools laid off 30 employees.   In Greensboro, after 18 years Mahi’s Seafood Restaurant shutdown.  The owner said he wanted to move to a cheaper location, but the economy is so bad he couldn’t pay for the move.

Ohio: In Berlin, after 100 years (surviving the Great Depression & numerous recessions) Shrader’s Store shutdown.  It’s being auctioned off in August.

Oklahoma: After 50 years the JC Potter Sausage factory in Durant shutting down in September.  The JC Potter Sausage brand was sold to Williams Sausage Company, but for some reason it did not include the actual factory.  In Tulsa, the Gateway Market shutdown, way earlier than it was supposed to.  Local news reports said it was the only grocery store for miles: “Everybody’s frustrated, the whole neighborhood. You know, I mean, they ain’t got no cars, no way of getting their groceries. What they going to do now?”-David Campbell, customer

Pennsylvania: State education officials warned of massive layoffs at five Universities: Clarion, Edinboro, Cheyney, East Stroudsburg and Mansfield.  According to state officials their university system has been experiencing what I call Disappearing Student Syndrome (DSS), and get this, they expect to lose another 1-thousand students by the end of this school year!  At least 44 university employees were laid off last year.

Tennessee: After four decades Vic and Bill’s Deli shutdown: “….it’s a part of home actually and it kinda feels that way closing it. But all good things have their time have their season and I guess our season is kind of ending.”-Angelia Captain Townsend, manager

Texas: What housing market recovery? In Austin, the Villa de Soliel mansion being auctioned off in August, reportedly with no set minimum starting bid!

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 26 – 28 July 2014: “It’s just plain shitty!” says one hospital official as Obamacare continues to cull jobs! Family Dollar Stores no more? Pets abandoned to die alone in Alabama! No more chicken?

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

Alabama: The Escambia County animal shelter in Flomaton shutting down in August.  County officials say there’s no mo-money.

Arkansas: Springdale based Tyson Foods killing off three major chicken processing factories in Iowa, New Mexico and New York.  The  processing plants will close between September and sometime in 2015, at least 950 jobs lost!  Tyson Foods officials blame the rising prices of chickens, and reduced demand from chicken eaters.   However, the true reason could be because Tyson Foods is taking over Hillshire for $8.5-billion USD, by the end of September!

Georgia: After 16 years the Augusta Ice Sports Center announced it’s being forced to shutdown in August.   It’s blamed on the greedy property owner who has gotten an $2-million offer for the property.

Illinois:  Green Choice Bank failed, it’s assets seized by FDIC and spilt with Providence Bank.

Maryland: Pel-Bern Electric Corporation now chapter 7  bankrupt busted.  Apparently it was an involuntary bankruptcy brought by the people who are owed money.

Massachusetts: The Boston School Department suddenly killed 126 jobs!  The school district is trying to save $9.5-million!  For years critics accused the Boston Strong school system of being out-a-shape and overweight with redundant administrative jobs.  In Andover, Abbey’s Bridal Shoppe shutting down in August.   Also, after 36 years Andover Photo shutdown.  The Andover Bookstore is threatening to shutdown, the owner says they can no longer afford to pay the rent.

Michigan: After 125 years the building housing the iconic and elitist Detroit Club now up for auction only seven months after the new owner spent more than a million dollars buying and renovating the building.  The starting bid is less than a million!

New Jersey: Obama Care killing 102 jobs at Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center!  Hospital officials say the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has caused a 30% reduction in healthcare customers, just from May 2014 to June 2014!

New Mexico: Near the failed WIPP nuke waste storage site which has caused job losses, another Carlsbad operation killing jobs.  Mosaic Potash announced they must reduce production and kill 185 jobs!  Company officials blame it on the crashing demand for muriate of potash.

New York: In Fort Edward, after 73 years General Electric (GE)  shutting down their iconic Broadway Street operation in 2015.  In the 1970s GE employed 27-hundred people there, but now only 167!  Company officials blame the bad economy: “It was a very difficult decision. We’ve been losing money at Fort Edward for years. This is in no way a reflection on the employees.”-Chris Horne

North Carolina: In New Bern, after 79 years the Maola Milk factory shutdown. Company officials are consolidating ops to save money, at least 70 jobs lost.

Ohio: The Middletown Fire Department eliminated 15 jobs.   Fire Station 84 now shutdown.

Oklahoma: Freedom Bank failed, it’s assets seized by FDIC and spilt with Alva State Bank & Trust Company.

Rhode Island: Major problems continue in the Ocean State regarding child care.  The state Department of Children Youth and Families tried to save taxpayers millions of dollars by contracting out services to two non-profits, Ocean State Network for Children and Families and the Rhode Island Care Management Network.  Instead of saving money, they ended up costing tens of millions of dollars more, one state employee accuses contractors of incompetence: “These private agencies go in and promise all these things and get all this money and don’t realize how much work it really is.  And ultimately it’s the state employees who end up doing all of the work.”-Philip Keefe,  Rhode Island Alliance of Social Service Employees

Texas:  Obama Care involved in University Medical Center’s (UMC) decision to kill 56 healthcare jobs at the two years old non-profit El Paso Children’s Hospital (which was built with local taxpayer funding).  UMC officials say most of the patients at the Children’s Hospital cannot pay for their medical care, despite Obama Care, to the tune of $70-million in lost revenue for UMC!  The UMC director was slightly perturbed: “It’s just plain shitty! There’s a lot of emotion, but that’s how I feel!”-Jim Valenti, UMC CEO for past ten years

Valenti says UMC must now borrow $20-million to float itself.  He refused to directly blame Obama Care (Affordable Care Act) but said that because of the so called federal health care reforms “We are in no position to continue subsidizing Children’s Hospital through the coming years.”

Virginia: Chesapeake based Dollar Tree now owns Family Dollar Stores.  Dollar Tree took over their competition for $9.2-billion! Family Dollar Stores has been losing money, and they’ve shutdown 370 stores.  The Dollar Tree takeover will become official in 2015, and could mean more store shutdowns and layoffs.  Dollar Tree is expanding into Canada, because the economy in the U.S. sucks: “The U.S. channel has clearly matured; there has been some poor performance and valuations have softened. U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 24 – 25 July 2014: “I knew we couldn’t recover.” “It’s not the way we wanted to go….!” More housing implosion! More raptured students? More Obamacare job culling!

Arizona: What housing market recovery? Local news reports said the Grand Canyon State lost 45-hundred construction jobs in June!

California: In Sylmar, God can’t stop Obama Care from killing 270 jobs with medical device maker Saint Jude Medical!  Blame all those new medical device taxes!  In El Segundo, taxsucker Raytheon announced they will kill another 24 jobs in September.  In Santa Anna, ITT Cannon announced they will layoff five employees in September.  In Los Angeles, the Too Big to Jail Pan American bank got a $6.3-million USD bailout, from 16 other banks!  The bank has not been able to make a profit since 2005.

Colorado: Three Bella’s Markets grocery stores shutting down.  There are reports of complaints from customers about the produce, but the store owner blames the landlord for forcing them to shutdown three of their eight stores.  The current owner of Bella’s took over in 2006, and it sounds like he regrets it.

Connecticut: Poquonnock Bridge Fire District killed nine jobs.  The fire chief said they’ve hit “bottom”.  In Torrington, after eight years Bogey’s Restaurant shutdown.  The restaurant owner says it is “…time to exit out.”  In Sprague, Fusion Paperboard announced they’re shutting down their recycling factory in September, 140 jobs lost!  Company officials say sales of finished recycled paper doesn’t cover the actual cost to recycle the paper.

Florida: JetBlue announced it is ending flights from Florida to Puerto Rico in September.   In Brickell, after eight years Finnegan’s River bar being shutdown by greedy property developers.  The owners of the bar sold out to a New York company for $15-million.   That’s Gay!  40 years old homosexual bar Parliament House chapter 11 bankrupt busted due to $15.5-million in debt!  The owners say their business crashed in 2009 and they’re still trying to recover.  You know all those PSAs on TV telling people it’s wrong to say things like “That’s Gay!”?  The Parliament House has a big rainbow sign that says Gay Days.  Is that Gay, or is it politically unacceptable?  Gay used to mean happy, now I’m sad.

Illinois: Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services dropped the state’s credit rating to ‘negative’.  What automotive industry recovery?  Peoria based heavy equipment maker Caterpillar reports their sales are still crashing, by 12% from March through May.   It’s all part of the big mining shutdown conspiracy around the World.  (and those climate change environmentalists think it’s their doing, ha, this  industry shutdown been taking place for several years now and it’s all about money not climate change.  Oh, are those climate change environmentalist going to feed all those unemployed mine employees?)

Indiana: Obama Care killing 150 healthcare jobs at Union Hospital in Terre Haute!  The CEO said “We face numerous challenges due to changes in the healthcare environment…”

Maryland: Proof that rugged individualism (bordering on anarchy) is dead in the U.S.  The eight years old John Wayne museum in Bowie in danger of shutting down.  The owner says revenues aren’t enough to pay for operating the museum dedicated to the Duke.  By the way, John Wayne’s real name was Marion Robert Morrison.  Marion?  That’s Gay!

Michigan: In Trenton, DTE Energy announced it is shutting down two coal fired electricity generating plants by 2016.  They’ve already shutdown six other coal fired power generators.  Company officials said it’s not worth the cost to upgrade the power plants to the new stricter federal standards.  So don’t complain when you lose power!

Mississippi: In Greenville, Kroger shutting down a grocery store in August, 70 jobs lost.

New York: In NYC, Self, a magazine for women (who apparently have self esteem issues) killed eight jobs (how’s that for self esteem).  Apparently the magazine publisher is having identity issues because reports say Self magazine is being “re-invented”.  After 77 years the Subway Inn announced it will shutdown in August.  It’s being done in by a greedy property developer, the son of the bar owner said “It is upsetting but times have changed.”

North Carolina: What housing market recovery?  Internet based  RoundPoint Mortgage announced it will layoff 166 employees in September!  The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the Tar Heel State lost 85-hundred jobs in June, wiping out all their job gains in March!

Ohio: In Columbus, God refuses to stop Christian charter school FCI Academy from killing 17 jobs.  The Christian school is in the hole at least $70-thousand, due to raptured(?) students.  Several years ago the grade school had 600 students, this school year they’re down to 340.

Oregon: In Portland, Bike N Hike shutdown: “Sales have been soft for three years at our Portland store…..This year, it’s been challenging. May and June weren’t kind to anyone here. By mid-­June, I knew we couldn’t recover…..

Pennsylvania: In Lehigh County, Obama Care killed 11 jobs at the county funded Cedarbrook nursing home.  Legal drugs pusher Merck announced it is killing 600 jobs in North Wales and Lansdale!

South Carolina: In Charleston, after six years the Vegetable Bin announced it is shutting down in August.  The building failed a fire code inspection, and the owner says their sales aren’t enough to cover the cost of bringing it up to code.

Texas: In Houston, taxsucker United Space Alliance announced it will kill 500 jobs in October!  In Dallas/Fort Worth, Anthem College shutting down its campus on Beltline Road, 30 jobs lost.  Power distributor Valmont Newark shutting down its Mansfield facility, 90 jobs lost.

Virginia: In Charlottesville, after five years office work space provider OpenSpace shutdown.  The owner admitted the concept failed to make money.

Washington: In Seattle, after 20 years the owner of Hurricane Cafe announced he is forced to shutdown in January. The restaurant owner blames the greedy property owner: “It’s not the way we wanted to go out for sure, losing a lease and getting torn down!”-Neil Scott

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 23 July 2014: “It all started so good…..things just ended.” More massive layoffs in California! Italian company kills jobs in Idaho! Huge electrical contractor fails to pay employees, then goes bust! 400+ jobs killed by Dick’s!

United Airlines announced it will end flights from Chicago, Illinois, to Topeka, Kansas, in September.   It’s blamed on not enough passengers to financially justify the flights.

California:  Golden State based Broadcom warned it will layoff at least 25-hundred people in September, most of them Californians! Company officials have been trying to sell off their cell phone service, but nobody wanted to buy it, so now they’re shutting it down.  In Fremont, Germany founded scientific equipment maker Bruker Daltonics warned of 78 layoffs in September.  In Antioch, decades old Lamothe Cleaners shutdown.  The owner says that despite updating to the latest technology, working six days a week and even offering free services, his sales have crashed and burned: “It just became too much.”-Tom Lamothe

Florida:  What housing market recovery?  In Coral Springs, condo builder Lauren Enterprises now chapter 11 bankrupt busted.  In Miami, after 60 years iconic Jumbo’s restaurant shutdown.  It was the  area’s first ‘white’ owned restaurant to serve ‘black’ customers. Idaho: In Boise, Italy owned highway and airport food service company HMS Host (Host Marriott Services Corporation-Autogrill S.p.A.) issued a WARN saying they will kill 79 jobs by the end of September.

Maryland: After 36 years of selling food, Stop Shop Save announced it is shutting down all its Baltimore grocery stores!  At one time there were 16 Stop Shop Save stores.  Company officials say their sales have crashed from $69.4-million USD in 2004 to $28.1-million in 2013!  Despite several dozen gorcery stores in the city, The Balitmore Sun says 1 in 5 residents lack easy access to food shopping, as 40% of the city’s poor have no means of transportation.  “It all started so good, was so convenient…..You’re shocked at how things just ended.”-Yvonne Epps, loyal customer

Minnesota: In Twin Cities, nine Roundy owned  Rainbow Foods grocery stores shutdown, with little notice.  Officials from Roundy said the economy is so bad it can’t support all the grocery stores that are out there.

Missouri: Overland based Build-A-Bear Workshop reported a $4.3-million loss for its 2nd quarter 2014, and they’re happy about it!  That’s because at the same time last year they lost $6.2-million! Florida based for profit Anthem Education warned of massive layoffs and the shutdown of its Missouri medical technician campuses if they cannot find new debt financing, or a new owner with lot-o-money!  College officials blamed it on a surprise “rapidly deteriorating financial condition”.  There was no explanation.

Ohio: In Cleveland, California based Too Big to Jail Wells Fargo shutdown a commercial real estate office.

Pennsylvania: Coraopolis based Dick’s Sporting Goods killed 478 jobs at its Golf Galaxy operation!  It’s blamed on crashing sales for golf stuff.

Texas: More Obama Care BS as United Regional Health Care System laid off 14 employees.  An anonymous letter to a local newspaper said the affected employees were “certified phlebotomists”. In Dallas/Fort Worth, Bonchon Korean style chicken restaurant shutdown.  Reports said it seems there aren’t enough fans of Korean style food in Texas.

Utah: In Salt Lake City, after 13 years two Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill restaurants shutting down at the beginning of August.  Company officials blame the bad economy and competition: “It’s based on more competition in the downtown area.  We appreciate every one of our guests, but unfortunately over the past few years, there have been fewer and fewer.”-Kennedy Turner

Virginia: What real estate market recovery?  In Reston, the largest electrical contractor in the region, Truland Group, now chapter 7 bankrupt busted after ending operations without notice and failing to pay employees (filing for bankruptcy will mean those employees are shit-outa-luck for getting their paychecks).  Local news reports said the sudden demise of the company shocked the “commercial real estate industry”.  More than 1-thousand jobs lost!

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 22 July 2014: “…it doesn’t make sense…” HUD refuses to fund apartment projects! U.S. shoe store says U.S. sales suck! Another coal mine shuts down!

Cumberland River Coal is halting coal mining in Virginia and Kentucky, 213 jobs!  Several coal mines have already killed more than 500 jobs across several eastern states this year!  It’s blamed on crashing demand.

Alaska: The University of Alaska killed 40 jobs, maybe it was the only way they could pay out the $320-thousand USD bonus to the university president!

Alabama: Birmingham based Cadence Bank is shutting down 17 offices across Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. Bank officials say it’s because the banking industry is “evolving”.    What housing market recovery?  In Birmingham, L&N Parkside canceled their plans to build 129 apartments and 12-thousand square feet of retail space.  The project was dependent on a loan from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  HUD refused to issue the loan!

Arizona: In Glendale, the Thunderbird School of Global Management warned of layoffs as they are forced to merge with Arizona State University, due to the bad economy.  At one time the school had 300 employees, but is down to 184.

Colorado: Niwot based Crocs shoe stores killing 183 jobs and shutting down 100 stores!  Company officials blame the crashing U.S. economy, and will now focus on sales outside the country!  In Broomfield, Safeway grocery store announced it will shutdown in August, 54 jobs lost.  Company officials said the economy sucks: “At a certain point, it doesn’t make sense to keep it open.”-Kris Staaf

Florida: Unilever killing 210 jobs by shutting down their Pinellas Park ice cream factory!  The company is consolidating operations to Tennessee and Missouri.

Georgia: The Eastside Commercial Bank has failed.  The assets are being split between the FDIC and the State Bank & Trust.

Illinois: In Deerfield, God refuses to stop the shutdown of the Stained Glass Coffeehouse, located in the Congregational Church.  Should churches be running retail operations?  “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”-1 Timothy 6:10 King James Bible

Maine: In Kennebunkport, after 30 years The Emporium gift store shutdown.  It’s blamed on health problems in the owner’s family.

Michigan:  The Grand Rapids Public Schools announced they must kill 90 jobs to the fact that 400 students disappeared!

Missouri: In Kirkwood, after 77 years Phillips Furniture shutdown.  The family that founded the store sold out to Ashley Furniture in December 2013.

New Mexico: In Albuquerque, after 11 years the Thai Crystal-Thai Saweiy restaurant shutdown.

New York: The Kaye Scholer law firm calls it quits in the Big Apple and is moving to Florida, at least 29 of the 48 employees affected.  In Buffalo, after only two months the owners of Chef’s Garage Pizza announced they’re shutting down.  The owner basically said there are too many pizza restaurants.

North Carolina: In Raleigh, after 102 years ( and surviving the Great Depression & numerous recessions) the Cameron Park Inn shutdown.

Ohio: What housing market recovery?  In the Toledo area, RealtyTrac reports that foreclosure rates jumped 100% from June 2013 to June 2014!  But wait there’s more.  From May 2013 to May 2014 the foreclosure rate in the Toledo area jumped 149%!

Oklahoma: In Tulsa, World Quality Holdings-World Foods announced they will shutdown their frozen foods op in September, 70 jobs lost.  Company officials blame global competition, however, it could be more about their upcoming sale to a Japanese company.

Pennsylvania:  Four Arby’s restaurants were shutdown, without warning!   The owner was under pressure to find debt financing to continue operations.  Apparently the economy in Pennsylvania can’t support Arby’s.

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 20 – 21 July 2014: Thousands more to lose their jobs in California! Landlords so desperate they’re offering free rent! Is 270 years old upscale company going bust? More casinos going bust! Obamacare kills mental health!

More proof the internet is not killing brick-n-mortar stores: After only six months Qplay shutdown.  The internet TV service provider was founded by the same people who created TiVo.  Some customers said the service was “terrible”.

Arizona: What housing market recovery?  Maville Interiors now chapter 11 bankrupt busted, 200 jobs could be lost!  The company was one of the largest house painting contractors in the Grand Canyon State.  Because of the housing market implosion the company has not been able to pay suppliers or federal taxes.  In Flagstaff, legal drugs pusher Walgreens shutting down their distribution center over the next nine months, 345 jobs will be lost!  Company officials say “we now have excess capacity” and need to shutdown distribution centers.

California: In Sacramento, the Starbucks coffee house on 15th & H streets shutdown. It’s blamed on low sales.  In Rancho, Super Glue-Pacer Technology announced it will layoff 14 employees in September.  In San Diego, TGI Friday’s warned it is shutting down a restaurant in September, 56 jobs lost. In Vacaville, Switzerland based legal drugs pusher Novartis announced they are laying off 57 employees in September.  Botox maker Allergan laying off 15-hundred people in Irivine, Santa Barbara and Carslbad, by Thanksgiving time in November!  Reports say if the company is taken over by a British empire Canadian rival then 5-thousand people will become jobless!

Illinois: In Rockford, the College of Medicine shutting down their psychiatric clinic  by the end of September.  2-thousand patients affected!  Clinic officials blame never ending funding cuts, thank you Obama Care!

Kentucky: So much for Obama Care.  The Kentucky Association of Regional Programs says 33 of 50 mental health programs across the state have shutdown!  Four mental health providers have cut their operating hours in half!  Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities blames Obama Care (Affordable Care Act) for changing how mental health care is handled.  More than 1-thousand patients affected!

Massachusetts: In New Bedford, after 82 years (and surviving the Great Depression and numerous recessions) Converse Photo Supply shutdown.  Don’t blame technology, the owners had gotten into the business of recovering pics off memory cards that were thought to have been erased.  The owners said they sold the building after they were approached by a property speculator.

Michigan: In East Lansing, after 50 years Goodrich’s Shop Rite shutdown. The owners said their lease expired and the property owners wanted mo money.

Minnesota: In Minneapolis, after 15 years Office Depot shutting down in September.  It’s part of the Office Depot, OfficeMax merger.

Mississippi: After only two years Margaritaville Casino warned of bankruptcy and that it will shutdown in September, 350 jobs lost!  The attorney for the casino blames the property owners: “Everybody wants a better outcome, everybody but the landlords.”-Michael Cavanaugh

New York: Once again the Daily News killed jobs, this time 17 people let go.  This comes after the newspaper raised its price from 75 cents to $1.25.  After 270 years, British empire Sotheby’s is in trouble and warned its New York employees of layoffs.  Company officials told the U.S. SEC that they need to cut $13-million USD.  In Hauppauge, Microsoft announced they are shutting down their computer program operation in October, 32 jobs lost.

Ohio:  In Toledo, the commercial rental market is crashing.  Local news media showed many rental properties with “free rent” signs in the windows!  Landlords said the problem is that potential renters claim they can’t afford the rent.  On top of that, if they try and sell the property many buyers are being denied loans by the Too Big to Jail banks!  One property owner says this problem goes way back before the 2008 market crash: “Between 1999 and 2001 I thought this town was going to move, that something was going to happen. It didn’t happen…..This was a huge investment ….”-Dino Sarris, Macid Corporation

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 18 – 19 July 2014: “The market has continued its downward spiral.” Restaurants refuse to pay employees? Company promises job security then lays off employees and cuts hours! Proof of the Rapture as Christian students continue to disappear?

What housing market recovery?  The U.S. Commerce Department reports a 9.3% drop in new U.S. home construction in the month of June.  When broken down by region, the southern states led the country with a 29.6% drop!  This is significant because the southern region makes up 40% of U.S. home construction!

Midwest: 28.1% drop

Northeast: 14.1% drop

West: 2.6% drop

California: In San Francisco, after almost 60 years Villa Romana restaurant shutdown.  The owners want to retire, and their two adult children say the economy doesn’t make it worthwhile for them to give up their current careers to continue the family business.  In Sacramento, Lowe’s owned OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware) on Arden Way shutdown.  OSH was once owned by Sears Holdings, but was sold to Lowe’s last year.

Florida: What housing market recovery?  In Fort Lauderdale, It’s been revealed that a 14 year veteran of the ‘American’ football team known as Miami Dolphins, is losing his home to a Too Big to Jail bank foreclosure.  That bank is known as the Bank of New York.  Bank officials say the football veteran stopped paying his mortgage last year.  Records show he had trouble paying his mortgage back in 2009 as well.

Idaho: What housing market recovery?  In Naples, it was revealed that Washington based Alta Forest Products (whose main product is fencing for homes) laid off at least 25 employees the week prior.  Hours for other mill employees were reduced.  Salesman Jeff Cook kinda blamed the housing market saying “We’ve lost a lot of sawmills and building products companies since 2007.”  However, it’s probably due to the May 2014 merger of TMI Forest Products and Welco Lumber, which created Alta Forest Products.  What’s (not) funny is company officials promised that job security was the goal of the merger: “This agreement will help secure employment to the local communities and strengthen the regional economy built on the growing lumber industry.”-company statement

Illinois: In Murphysboro, after 37 years God refuses to stop the shutdown of  Murphysboro Christian Academy.  Officials with the privately funded school say Christian students are disappearing (raptured?).   What automotive industry recovery?  In Freeport, Titan Tire laid off 36 people at its factory.  These layoffs have been going on for awhile; 26 in April 2014, 66 in August 2013.  Company officials blame crashing sales to mining companies and food growers: “The market has continued its downward spiral. Our ticket orders for tires in the ag and industrial market are down. They’re just not in demand.”-Dale Sandell, president

Louisiana: Netherlands based Chicago Bridge & Iron announced it is shutting down its Addis pipe factory in September, saying “For economic reasons we have decided to close the entire CB&I Addis Shop.”  126 jobs lost!

Maryland: In Frederick, Texas based Dickey’s Barbecue Pit shutdown without notice, and without paying its employees!  Company officials simply said “It was not meeting our standards”, but local circuit court officials revealed that the restaurant failed to get a required business license.   Most former employees claim they are still owed about $600 USD.  In Hagerstown, after more than 40 years custom bicycle shop Hub City Cycles shutdown.  The owner said he  was forced to close, but he will do his best to spend the next 40 years making the World a better place.

Michigan: In East Lansing the largest teachers union in the state, Michigan Education Association, revealed that half of its members actually made less money in 2013.  Incompetent union officials admit they don’t know why.  Yet while half of their members made less money, somehow the amount of assets held by the Michigan Education Association actually went up!   In Hudsonville, God refuses to stop the shutdown of Freedom Christian Schools (aka Freedom Baptist Schools).  The shutdown was a surprise as school officials even extended the contracts of teachers before the announcement.  The school’s website has been removed.  School officials blame raptured students (apparently because this problem of disappearing students is affecting both taxpayer and privately funded schools all over the U.S., as I keep pointing out) saying this school year’s  enrollment is worse than last year’s.     At one point the privately funded school had 375 students, but since 2010 they’ve lost at least 65 students.  (privately funded schools are more affected by student loss than are taxpayer funded schools)

Mississippi: Obama Care forcing Singing River Health System to shutdown two of their Medworks clinics in August, one in Gautier and one in D’Iberville.  Back in March, hospital officials revealed that even with the new Obama Care that $88-million in medical services will not be paid for!  Officials say Obama Care is not solving the problem of people who can’t pay for medical care: “The amount of uncompensated care that we generate every year is growing every year, and it is the largest it has ever been! This is a very difficult time in the industry.”-Kevin Holland, CEO

New Jersey: What housing industry recovery?  In Bayonne, an undisclosed number of Muralo Paint employees losing their jobs.  Company officials sold off most of their assets to another company called California Products.  Officials with California Products say only “several individual” Muralo employees will be kept on.

Ohio: The Lorain County Community Action Agency warned it will eliminate 25 Head Start assistant teachers.  It’s a little confusing as officials claim the layoffs will actually increase teacher to student interaction.  In Toledo, Mexico owned Bimbo Bakeries announced they’re shutting down their Jason Street store just in time for Xmas, 34 jobs lost.

Pennsylvania: In Harrisburg, Zia’s at Red Door shutdown.  The owner blames jacked up rent and the fact that the idiot A-hole city officials jacked up the cost of parking at the restaurant: “Parking definitely has a lot to do with it. We lost a lot of customers. A lot of customers won’t come down because of it.”-Rocco Rama

Washington: What housing market recovery?  In Shelton, it was revealed that Alta Forest Products laid off employees and reduced working hours (see Idaho for reason).

West Virginia: After 30 years North Central Big Brothers/Sisters shutdown, it’s blamed on the bad economy: “Due to several cuts in our organization’s funding, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Central West Virginia offices will be closing. Several streams of funding received in past years were not received this year, making our continued operations unfeasible. It is with deep sadness that we close our doors.”

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 17 July 2014: “…that train is headed for the cliff!” Microsoft culls 18-thousand tech jobs! More casinos roll snake eyes! Another women’s clothing store goes down! “The doctors….just can’t sustain it anymore.” Obamacare culls more healthcare jobs!

An east coast female clothing store now chapter 11 bankrupt busted. Love Culture owes its landlords tens of millions of dollars in back rent.  Their website still says they are growing and expanding their business!  Company officials stated that the bankruptcy will allow them to shutdown many of their 80 stores.  The company founders chose a bad year to start up a corporation; 2007.

Arizona: Who said tech jobs were recession proof?  In Tucson, California based tech company Intuit announced they’re killing 200 jobs in the near future.  Company officials refused to explain why, or exactly when they would take place.  If you go back over my previous Job Losses reports you’ll notice that Intuit has been steadily laying off employees in California.

California: Speaking of Intuit, they also announced they are killing an additional 127 Golden State jobs in September!  Taxsucker Boeing announced that 58 Golden Staters will be laid off in September.  More proof you can’t blame the internet for killing brick-n-mortar stores.  Yet another women’s clothing retailer in trouble, this time San Francisco based internet seller ModCloth.  Reports say the internet operation laid off about 70 employees, even though they’re advertising that they’re hiring.  ModCloth has also been accused of modifying the pics of clothing on their website.  Staying in San Francisco, the Grand Cafe warned that at least three employees will be let go in September.  In Porterville, Foster Poultry Farms announced 60 chicken pluckers will be laid off come September.  In Los Angeles, Wolfgang Pucks shutting down their restaurant at LAX Terminal 2 in September, 24 jobs lost.  Also at Terminal 1 LAX, Delaware North Companies (DNC) Travel Hospitality Services shutting down their Back Lot Deli in September, 25 jobs lost.  In Montebello, insurance industry created Obama Care forcing Beverly Community Hospital to cull 82 healthcare jobs in September.  In El Dorado Hills, Video Products Distributors IV announced they are shutting down in September, 17 jobs lost.

Georgia: In Atlanta, after 50 years snooty upscale private for profit Bauder College announced it is shutting down in 2015! It’s blamed on massive disappearing students.  In 2009 the college had 12-hundred students, it’s now less than 420!  College officials said by the start of the 2015-16 school year they’ll be down to 75!  You see, the U.S. economy is so bad even wealthy people can’t afford to pay for college!

Kentucky: What automotive industry recovery? In Maysville, Federal Mogul warned of 157 layoffs! The maker of automotive parts is consolidating operations out-o-state.  Obama Care killing 70 healthcare jobs at Jennie Stuart Medical Center: “…like many hospitals nationwide….We are adjusting to federal sequester cuts, declining Medicare reimbursement, an increasingly complex and restrictive Medicaid system, and a commercial insurance marketplace that is placing more of the burden of cost on its insureds.”– official statement from hospital

Maine: What housing market recovery?  After 61 years window maker Waterville Window now chapter 7 bankrupt busted and liquidating.  The company began laying off employees in December 2013.

Michigan: The city of Flint is warning that Obama Care’s increased employee benefit costs and the bad economy are pushing the city into bankruptcy: “Flint’s at the forefront, but a lot of cities are on the same train, and that train is headed for the cliff!”-Eric Scorsone,  Michigan State University economist

Minnesota: In Minneapolis, after nine years Social House restaurant shutdown, the operators blame the property owner for kicking them out, saying “We had absolutely no control over this situation…” 

Mississippi: Obama Care forcing Trace Regional Hospital to shutdown their Emergency Room in September: “The federal government is cutting or eliminating programs that pay hospitals for treating uninsured patients. This money is being redirected to fund the cost of Medicaid expansion….”-State Senator David Blount

New York: In Auburn, air conditioner maker Daikin Applied warned it is shutting down just in time for the New Year, 415 employees affected!  In Newfane, Obama Care forcing Eastern Niagara Hospital to cull 185 healthcare jobs beginning in October!

Nevada: In Laughlin, the River Palms Resort Casino announced they will kill at least 271 jobs in September!  The casino was sold off, and it’s not known what the new owners are planning to do with the property.

North Carolina: After 35 years Obama Care (Affordable Care Act) forcing Cancer Centers of North Carolina (CCNC) to shutdown in October, 135 healthcare jobs lost: “The doctors have really tried for the past couple years to stay independent. They just can’t sustain it anymore.”-Sheri Dyke, CCNC director

Ohio: Uranium mining company Fluor-B&W Portsmouth issued a WARN, saying all 19-hundred employees and subcontractors could lose their jobs by Autumn!  Company officials say they are losing money due to the crashing price of uranium, a similar situation to what is crashing and burning the coal mining industry.

Pennsylvania: In Lawrenceville, Paragon Foods canceled their plans to build a distribution center.  The female president of the company said “It was unaffordable for us…”  God refuses to stop the Franktuary hot dog restaurant at Trinity Cathedral from shutting down: “We’ve come to the end of an era.  Franktuary will close its original set of doors on National Hot Dog Day, July 23rd, at 4 p.m.”-owners

Tennessee: Another U.S. shoe factory shuts down, this time Wellco Enterprises shuttered its Morristown factory, 53 jobs lost.  Before the 2010 takeover by Wellco the taxsucking factory used to make boots for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Texas: In Amarillo, after 88 years (surviving the Great Depression and numerous recessions) Beebe’s Ace Hardware & Building Supply shutdown.  Back in the day ‘hardware’ meant hammer and nails, not hard drives or motherboards. The owner blames Globalization: “It used to be everything in the lumber business was made in the U.S., we live in a world economy now. He [the founder of the store] would have a fit if he knew we were selling tools that were made in China and Indonesia…..plywood from Russia, from South America, from Chile, from Australia and hardwood from Indonesia. It’s just incredible….”-Parker Beebe

Who said tech jobs were recession proof? In Plano, computer company Dell announced they are killing an undisclosed number of jobs around the World.  Dell officials said less than 175 Texans would be laid off.   The company calls job killing ‘optimizing operations’: “We can confirm that we have taken steps to optimize our operations over the past few years and recently.” 

Virginia: In Staunton, the Dixie Theater shutdown.

Washington: Who said tech jobs were recession proof?  Redmond based Microsoft finally revealed its massive job culling plan; 18-thousand by the end of 2015!  Analysts knew it would be big, but not that big.  Reports say about 55-hundred job losses will be in the United States! It’s partly blamed on Microsoft’s takeover of Finland’s Nokia (apparently thousands of Finns are soon to be jobless), but some of the U.S. layoffs come from the shutdown of Xbox Entertainment Studios.

West Virginia: In Charleston, after 84 years (and surviving the Great Depression and numerous recessions) the Sport Mart Superstore announced they will shutdown in August.  The owners blamed “ever changing demographics, competition from big chain stores, the Internet and the local economy have all contributed to sales erosion.”

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shutdown.  It doesn’t count people who get a severance for being laid off.

U.S. Job Losses & Store Closings 15 – 16 July 2014: “It is extremely scary!” Idaho makes top ten Housing Implosion list! Thousands of job cuts right before Xmas! Christian prudery gone wild kills jobs! More gun makers killing jobs! Obamacare killing mom & pops!

Incomplete list of publicly announced layoffs & shutdowns:

United States Air Force (USAF) announced it will kill 3459 jobs over the next five years, however they admitted the majority of job kills will take place over the next 12 months!

What housing market recovery?  RealtyTrac’s top ten list says the Kansas City area (in both Missouri and Kansas) has 305 abandoned homes!

Alabama: Maxwell AFB announced it will kill 31 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian (civilian) jobs as well, most will happen in time for Xmas!   RealtyTrac’s top ten list says Birmingham-Hoover ties second place (percentage wise) with abandoned homes, 37%!  In numbers that’s 428 abandoned homes!

California: San Ramon based oil giant Chevron announced it is killing 225 jobs in Scotland.  Those jobs include U.S. contractors.  Chevron officials say it’s part of their plan to reduce “redundancies”.   Diesel, A Bookstore shutdown its Malibu Country Mart store.  Company officials blame slow sales and “steep rent” saying “We’ve talked…about reducing rent….but at the end of the day, you’re tied into the lease…”  In Santa Maria, after 35 years Electronic Parts Supermart shutdown.  The 75 years old owner said it was time to see the World.  Tech company Intuit announced it will layoff 82 people at three job sites in September.  In Ballico, Sierra-Cascade Nursery announced it is shutting down (supposedly temporarily) in September, 544 jobs lost!

Colorado: Peterson Air Force Base (AFB) announced it will kill 275 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most will happen just in time for Xmas!  What housing market recovery?  Michigan based Lamar Construction stopped three apartment building projects in the  Centennial State, 180 jobs lost!  On top of that, four other apartment projects are threatened.  As I reported in past Job Losses reports, Lamar Construction shutdown without notice.

Florida: Hurlburt Field announced it will kill 22 USAF jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most will happen in time for Xmas!  RealtyTrac’s top ten list says at the end of the 2nd quarter, the Palm Bay area had 2041 abandoned homes!

Hawaii: Hickam AFB announced it will kill 238 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most just in time for Xmas!

Idaho: In Nampa, Macy’s Clearance Center shutdown, eight jobs lost.  Local news reports indicated that the lease on the property was still in effect.  RealtyTrac’s top ten list says at the end of the 2nd quarter the Boise-Nampa area had 765 properties in foreclosure, and 237 homes abandoned!

Illinois: Scott AFB announced it will kill 292 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most will happen  in time for Xmas!  Insurance industry created Obama Care forced Chiro One Wellness Centers into bankruptcy auction. Its remaining assets are up for sale. News reports said the health center blamed it on “a sharp drop in reimbursements for chiropractic services.”  In Chicago, the Taste of Chicago fair now dead.  Yearly attendance has crashed since 2007, and this year the show was cancelled on the last day!   Interestingly, Obama regime city officials claim the food fair was finally making a profit, despite declining attendance.  The Too Big to Jail Northern Trust Bank killing 200 jobs!  The international elitist bank targets “wealthy” customers, and said they needed to cut costs.  This is a true sign of a crashing global economy, when an elitist international bank says it has to cut costs!

Kansas: What housing market recovery?  RealtyTrac says Wichita leads the U.S. (percentage wise) with abandoned homes, 49%!  In numbers that’s 146 homes!

Kentucky: In Madisonville, Kmart announced they’re shutting down in October, 39 jobs lost.

Louisiana: Barksdale AFB announced it will kill 167 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most will happen in time for Xmas!

Massachusetts: Waltham based military taxsucker Raytheon admitted it killed an undisclosed number of jobs.  Local news reports say “anonymous” employees reported 300 people become unemployed!  The job cuts are blamed on the bad economy and the Department of Defense delaying the approval of new contracts (which in turn is because of the bad economy).  RealtyTrac’s top ten list says at the end of the 2nd quarter Worcester had 394 abandoned homes!

Michigan:  What housing market recovery?  The Failed State Detroit Land Bank attempting to dump homes in the Boston-Edison area.  Those homes have been labeled “disasters” by local news media.  At least 12 large, dilapidated and trashed homes will be auctioned off in August.   In Failed State Detroit, the Comet Bar threatened with being forced to shutdown by a desperate baseball team.  Apparently the popular local bar might be in the way of the new stadium for the Detroit Red Wings.  Despite reporting a 54% increase in profits Rockford based shoe maker-seller, Wolverine Worldwide, announced it is shutting down all 140 stores (the majority are known as Stride Rite) across the U.S., by 2015!  Apparently they don’t think their good times are gonna last saying they must adapt to “a fundamental shift in consumer shopping behavior”.

Missouri: RealtyTrac says Saint Louis ranks 34% with abandoned homes! In numbers, Saint Louis has 847 abandoned homes!

New Hampshire: Germany based SIG Sauer laid off at least 100 employees from its gun factories in Exeter and Newington! It’s blamed on crashing gun sales.

New York: In NYC, after seven years New Amsterdam Market shutdown.  The owner of the popular market place said nobody was willing to continue debt financing the operation (which is actually how retail America works, not by actual sales).  In Centerport, popular wedding venue Thatched Cottage shutdown.  It went bankrupt back in January, the owner says they’ve never recovered from Tropical Storm Irene and Superstorm Sandy.  In Wyandanch, Obama Care forcing Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center to shutdown in October, 64 healthcare jobs lost.  RealtyTrac’s top ten list says at the end of the 2nd quarter, Syracuse ranked with 33% abandoned homes!

Nevada: RealtyTrac’s top ten list says at the end of the 2nd quarter the Las Vegas area had 1670 abandoned homes!

North Carolina: Who said tech jobs are recession proof?  California based CoreLogic announced it is shutting down their Charlotte ops, 49 jobs lost in October.

Ohio: Wright Patterson AFB announced it will kill 372 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most just in time for Xmas!  In Massillon, Food4Less grocery store shutdown without notice!  It was shutdown right in the middle of the afternoon while customers were shopping, about 15:00 hours according to local news reports.  It’s the 3rd grocery store in the past six months to shutdown in the city of Massillon.  Local news reports indicate that the owner of all three grocery stores had lost a major legal battle.  One lawsuit claims the owner has yet to pay for store supplies she received as far back as 2011!  Hundreds of jobs lost due to a incompetent or possibly deceitful store owner (kinda like a metaphor for those who’re running the United States)!

Oregon: What housing market recovery? RealtyTrac says the Portland area ties second place (percentage wise) with abandoned homes, 37%!  In numbers, the Portland area has 804 abandoned homes!  In Eugene, after 35 years Keystone Cafe shutdown, 17 jobs lost.  The owners blame increasing costs of operation, including higher insurance rates caused by Obama Care, for forcing them to “regretfully retire”.   In Forest Grove, controversial Dream Girls Espresso shutdown.  Apparently the female employees wore bikinis and would flash their boobs at customers.  Even though they were wearing pasties on their nipples, one man (who for some reason liked to go there and buy coffee and take pics with his cell phone) was outraged and complained so much to the landlord that the lease was not renewed.  This sounds like a clear case of ‘christian/religious’ prudery gone wild and resulting in job destruction: “He has basically stalked the stand since we’ve been open and has made several attempts at sending my landlord pictures to the point where it’s affecting their livelihood!”-Leah Sizemore, store owner

South Carolina: Joint Base Charleston announced it will kill 19 USAF  jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most will happen in time for Xmas!  In Walterboro, after 12 years the local Arby’s restaurant shutdown without notice.  Local news reports say the restaurant has two signs posted on the building, one saying “Now Hiring!” and the other saying “Sorry we’re close.” (yep, they actually forgot to put the ‘d’ on the end of “close”).  Local news reports said no restaurant official would talk to them to explain why the restaurant shutdown.

Texas: Joint Base San Antonio announced it will kill 429 USAF jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most just in time for Xmas!  In Austin, tech company National Instruments offshoring 100 U.S. jobs over the next 18 months!  Those jobs will go to Malaysia and Hungary, company officials now admit that “90 percent of our current production” is done in those countries.  In Houston, after less than nine months Trenza restaurant shutdown.  In Dallas-Fort Worth, the Texas Education Agency threatens to shutdown the Prime Prep Academy.  The school, founded by a former Dallas Cowboys star, is accused of failing to comply with state laws.

Utah: Hill AFB announced it will kill 27 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most will happen in time for Xmas!  California based Too Big to Jail Wells Fargo announced it is shutting down its Castle Dale office in October.

Virginia: Langley AFB announced it will kill 742 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most just in time for Xmas: “It is extremely scary! You have a family to provide for, and come December one, we could be homeless and jobless. Washington: Who said tech jobs were recession proof? Yet more warnings from Redmond based Microsoft about looming mass layoffs.  This time Bloomberg gave a hint at what could be coming: “The restructuring — which may be unveiled as soon as this week — may end up being the biggest in Microsoft history, topping the 5,800 jobs cut in 2009...” 

Washington DC: Joint Force National Capital Region, the USAF announced it will kill 522 military jobs, which will affect an unknown number of sillyvilian jobs as well, most just in time for Xmas!  The USAF also said it will kill 734 AFHQ jobs, most will happen in time for Xmas!
