Occupy the United Police States of America! Officials admit to arresting reporters, restraining order ignored by cops, even a retired Judge was threatend by cops

“I was there to take down the names of people who were arrested. As I’m standing there, some African-American woman goes up to a police officer and says, ‘I need to get in. My daughter’s there. I want to know if she’s OK.’ And he said, ‘Move on, lady.’  And they kept pushing with their sticks, pushing back. And she was crying.  And all of a sudden, out of nowhere, he throws her to the ground and starts hitting her in the head.  I walk over, and I say, ‘Look, cuff her if she’s done something, but you don’t need to do that.’  And he said, ‘Lady, do you want to get arrested?’  And I said, ‘Do you see my hat? I’m here as a legal observer.’  He said, ‘You want to get arrested?’  And he pushed me up against the wall.”-Karen Smith, retired New York State Supreme Court Judge, and official legal observer of the OWS movement

New York City cops threatening to take down an official legal observer, and retired judge, just because she was reminding them of what they legally can and can not do.  If this isn’t proof that the United States has become a true Police State, then you’re blind!!!

Here’s more proof of the arrogance of “our” leaders: “Not being familiar with many of the media outlets for which The Awl says these reporters work, I had the list of ‘26 arrested reporters’ checked against the roster of reporters who hold valid NYPD press passes. You can imagine my surprise when we found that only five of the 26 arrested reporters actually have valid NYPD issued press credentials.”-Stu Loeser, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s spokesperson

First off, he admits 26 reporters were intentionally arrested for covering OWS events. Secondly, the list of 26 reporters includes many arrested at OWS events outside New York, so why would they have New York press credentials?!

Some examples: Photojournalist Kristyna Wentz-Graff, arrested in Milwaukee!  Reporter Jonathan Meador, arrested in Tennessee! Why do they need New York press credentials?

The British The Guardian reports that even a reporter with United Nations credentials was arrested.

Examples of harassment: Julie Walker, of NPR, says cops ripped her recorder out of her hands.  Doug Higginbotham, from New Zealand, had his New York press ID stripped off him by the NYPD.

Most arrested reporters are being let go, but some are being charged with disorderly conduct.

If you’re wounder how to get a New York City press credential, here’s a quote from the NYPD web site: “Applicants also must submit one or more articles, commentaries, books, photographs, videos, films or audios published or broadcast within the twenty–four (24) months immediately preceding the Press Card application, sufficient to show that the applicant covered in person six (6) or more events occurring on separate days.”

Did you notice; in order to get New York City press credentials you have to already be reporting, apparently illegally, news about New York City!!!  That’s typical Police State mentality.

On top of all that, the OWS movement actually got a restraining order against the NYPD, but the cops, and city officials ignored it: “When the cops raided Zuccotti Park, lawyers for Occupy Wall Street immediately woke up a judge with a civil liberties background and asked for help.  Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lucy Billings signed an early-morning order temporarily barring cops from keeping protesters and tents out of Zuccotti Park.  But within hours, she was off the case as court administrators prepared to randomly choose a new judge — and excluded Billings’ name from the list of candidates.”-The New York Daily News

Government & Corporate Incompetence: More Rice contaminated with Cesium!

The Fukushima Prefectural government says rice from a field in the Oonami district, in Fukushima City, are contaminated with 630 becquerels per kilogram of cesium.

The rice came from one farm.  There are 154 farms in the Oonami district in Fukushima City, they will now test all the farms.

Officials claim the contaminated rice is still in the warehouse and none was shipped to market.

Until now most contaminated rice, in Japan, was just under the government limit of 500 becquerels per kilogram of cesium.  This is the first time rice was found over the limit, and national government officials are now considering banning the sale of rice which comes from Oonami district.

Government & Corporate Incompetence: Radiation levels increasing in Japanese Rivers!

Japan’s Environment Ministry reports that radiation levels in rivers, downstream of the radiation spewing Fukushima Daiichi, are only increasing.

The latest official readings come from samples taken back in September.

In northern Fukushima Prefecture, the cesium levels were 3,200 becquerels per kilogram in the upstream Niida River.  The cesium levels in the downstream side of the same river were 13,000 becquerels!  That’s triple the levels reported in May!

Cesium levels in the Mano River have doubled!

Kinki University Professor Yamazaki Hideo says the government should step up radiation monitoring in all rivers.

Global Economic War: Japanese industry moving to China

Since the 11 March 2011 disasters, Japanese industries moving to China has increased 65%.  That’s according to the Chinese Commerce Ministry.

There are two big factors why Japanese industries are moving to a mortal enemy’s territory: Money and Electrical Power.

Since the March disasters, including the ongoing Fukushima Daiichi meltdown, about half of Japan’s nuclear power plants are shut down.  The problem is that Japan built it’s current industries around nuclear power.  There just isn’t enough alternative electricity sources to power Japan’s factories.

Also since March, the Japanese yen has been going up in value.  This makes it more expensive to build things in Japan; Japan has no significant resources so it must import everything.

Japanese media are finally getting concerned about the growing unemployment there, mainly because so many factories have shut down and moved out of the country.

I wounder how this will affect the plans to create a TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership), especially since one of its goals is to block out China.

Occupy Idaho: Bank sues Mayor for business loan, Mayor says her business is not in trouble

Coeur d’Alene Mayor Sandi Bloem was shocked to learn that her jewelry store is being sued for more than $80,000.

Panhandle State Bank says the lawsuit is over a $75,000 loan made back in 2005.  Bloem says she was in the process of renegotiating the loan, and never had any indication the bank was going to sue.  She says her jewelry store is not in financial trouble, even though the bank says she failed to pay off the loan.

Corporate Incompetence: TEPCo retracts Fukushima melt down claim!

On 02 November 2011, Tokyo Electric Power Company said Reactor 2 at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant was in melt down, again. Now they changed their mind!

TEPCo now says the level of xenon radiation they detected is too low to be from spontaneous fission.  Can these guys get anything right?

Government & Corporate Incompetence: Fukushima Reactor 2 going Critical, TEPCo pouring Boric Acid into reactor!

02 November 2011, Tokyo Electric Power Company announced that melt down has re-started in Fukushima Daiichi Reactor 2.

TEPCo detected radioactive xenon-133 and xenon-135, in the reactor’s containment vessel on 02 November.  They are produced during nuclear fission.  TEPCo poured a boric acid solution into Reactor 2 to suppress the nuclear fission (melt down).

Analysts are speculating that the other reactors at Fukushima Daiichi could also go critical.  Professor Okamoto Koji, of the University of Tokyo Graduate School, says the presence of xenon in the reactors leaves open the possibility that localized and temporary fission could still occur.

TEPCo claims that using the boric acid has cooled down the reactor.

United Police States of America: Man loses hearing because of Idaho police brutality

“…a skull fracture and so he had bleeding coming out of his ear and out of his nose…. And probably one of the worst things he had was hearing loss, because the fracture went very close to one of his ears.”-Richard Hearn, attorney & medical doctor

A man is suing the Pocatello Police Department, after suffering a skull fracture, affecting his hearing, after being tased on February 20, 2011.

According to his attorney, who’s also a medical doctor, he was pulled over by police, but panicked when the police grabbed him.  He ran and the police yelled they would tase him if he didn’t stop.  He complied but the cops tased him anyway.  He fell to the ground hitting his head on the sidewalk.  One of the cops hit him in the head as well.  He was life flighted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

A local east Idaho TV station tried to get reaction from the Pocatello Police Department, but the only person authorized to talk about the case is on vacation.

Government & Corporate Incompetence: More radiation in Yokohama, this time school lunches!

Shiitake mushrooms used in school lunches have tested positive for 350 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive cesium.  That’s below the government limit of 500 becquerels, but Yokohama school officials are getting rid of them anyway.

Yokohama is about 250 kilometers (155 miles) from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

At a Ibaraki Prefecture mushroom farm, 830 becquerels per kilogram of radioactive cesium were found on the mushrooms there.  The farm is about 170 km (106 miles) from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Earlier in the week mushrooms in Chiba Prefecture were found to be contaminated with cesium, higher then the government safe limits.  Clearly, after almost seven months, radiation is still spreading from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

Government & Corporate Incompetence: Radioactive Strontium found on Yokohama roof tops!

Yokohama City officials are testing their soil for strontium, after a private testing firm said they found high levels of strontium on some roof tops.

The company said they detected 195 becquerels of strontium per kilogram, more than six times the government safety limit.  Yokohama has already suffered cesium levels at 80 times the government limits.

Yokohama is about 250 kilometers (155 miles) from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
