Alabama: In Birmingham, after more than 100 years, and surviving the Great Depression, Cather Publishing shutdown.
California: In City of Industry, Macy’s department store shutting down a distribution warehouse, 63 jobs lost. In Culver City, Japan based Sony warned of massive layoffs. Sony says a coming U.S. economic collapse (perhaps caused by the collapse of the USD as trading houses switch to the RMB) is causing them to cut their U.S. operating budget by $100-million USD! Galt Joint Union High School District says it must layoff five employees. It’s blamed on disappearing students. In Sunnyvale, once again tax sucker NetApp killing jobs. This time 600 people will become unemployed! NetApp killed 900 jobs in 2013! It’s blamed on reduced federal funding. NetApp is contracted by the federal government to store data that government spies have gathered about your internet and cell phone activities! In Truckee, after 13 years Dragonfly Restaurant shutdown. The owner said he was made an “offer he couldn’t refuse” by aggressive property developers. In Torrance, after more than 40 years Vince’s Spaghetti shutdown. 35 jobs lost. “The last three or four years have been a real struggle to make ends meet. It’s like a death in the family. For the past few years its been like watching a patient on life support.”-Gregg Parras, general manager
Colorado: In Steamboat Springs, state tax collection NAZIs seized the Bakery Restaurant. The NAZI Colorado Department of Revenue says the restaurant owes about $8-thousand USD in sales taxes. The NAZI city officials of Steamboat Springs says the restaurant owes them $4-thousand in taxes. Apparently the restaurant also owes the federal IRS $26-thousand in payroll taxes! This is what happens when the economy sucks ass!!!! At least the restaurant was keeping people employed, now everybody’s unemployed!
Florida: The Obama regime is shutting down Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offices in Tampa and Orlando. More than a dozen jobs lost. In Lakeland, after only five years DC’s Sports Bar shutdown. And the Fishin’ Shed Tackle Shop shutdown. The owners blame Walmart.
Illinois: Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 laying off four of their ten art teachers. It’s blamed on disappearing students. OfficeMax announced they are ending all operations in the Prairie State, 1600 jobs lost! Company officials are pissed because state officials refused to continue giving them asinine tax breaks, at huge expense to residents of Illinois! (hey, if small mom & pops don’t get tax breaks then neither should the money sink holes of Corporate America!) It’s also connected to the merger with Office Depot.
Indiana: Obama Care killing 17 jobs at private Monroe Hospital.
Iowa: West Des Moines’ Johnston Community School District voted to shutdown an elementary school and possibly kill 14 jobs, at the end of March. School officials say they must shutdown an elementary school, then turn a Junior High into an elementary school, plus raise property taxes/fees in order to build a new High School. (Hey they pulled that crap here in Chubbuck/Pocatello, Idaho, and it was nothing but a big mess and a scam for local taxpayers!)
Minnesota: Veterinarian drugs supplier Ivesco shutting down it’s Mankato warehouse in May, about 24 jobs lost. The company was taken over by MWI Veterinary Supply.
New York: NYC based women’s clothing store owner Ann Incorporated (Ann Taylor, Loft) killing 100 corporate jobs! Company officials admit they expect a crash in women’s clothing sales, and are trying to stay ahead of the curve by culling jobs now. NYC based America On Line (AOL) has laid off an undisclosed “double digit” number of employees. In Islandia, CA Technologies laying off 600 tech workers! These new layoffs are in addition to the 1200 layoffs announced in 2013! In Middletown, Acme Bus Company warned of layoffs in June, due to the loss of a Department of Health contract. In Copiague, Baumann & Sons Buses warned of 250 layoffs in June, due to loss of contrac!
North Carolina: In High Point, after 67 years sports memorabilia Autographed Ball shutting down. The owner blames the gott damned economy: “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. We’re closing, we have no choice. We’ve sold every baseball we had left, every bit of the inventory. We’ll auction off everything else, computers, desks, chairs, everything, by March 24, and then we’ll be gone. Sixty-seven years will be over. Nobody got rich!“-Dick Culler Jr
Ohio: Central State University laid off 17 employees, and plans on reducing pay for everybody else. It’s blamed on decreasing funding caused by disappearing students.
Pennsylvania: Obama Care kills 100 jobs at Pittsburg based non-profit healthcare provider Highmark! This is on top of the 160 jobs Highmark was forced to kill in February! Allen Town School District wants to kill 100 jobs! The district has already killed 350 jobs over the past four years. It’s blamed on disappearing students, which results in massive funding cuts.
South Carolina: In Charleston, after 27 years upscale Carolina’s restaurant shutdown. In Greenville, after 20 years The Fashion Shack shutdown. Aggressive property developers bought the building. In Rock Hill, grocery store Compare Foods shutdown. 50 jobs lost. The manager blames the suck ass economy: “The recession hit Rock Hill pretty hard and we’ve been suffering from that as well. There are a lot of businesses that have been dealing with that.”-Omar Jorge
Texas: In Houston, British-Dutch empire corporation Royal Dutch Shell killing 400 jobs in the United States! The layoffs would affect Rocky Mountain area, Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Company officials claim the North and South American markets caused them to lose $900-million USD in 2013! In Sherman, two restaurants shutdown; the six years old Little Italy and the 37 years old Braums on North Travis. The owners of Little Italy says city officials forced them to close. No explanation was given by the owners of Braums. In Canyon, after 65 years Varsity Theater shutdown. The owners cannot afford the digital upgrades.
Virginia: Who said internet businesses are recession proof? Reston based internet cell phone company Wirefly Mobile/Simplexity now chapter 7 bankrupt busted!
Washington: In Seattle, video game maker PopCap Games laid off an undisclosed number of employees. After less than five years Savour specialty food store shutdown.
Wisconsin: In Lodi, after more than 93 years Weber’s Bakery shutdown. The owner Noel Weber blamed the not-so-recovered economy stating “…we can’t continue this way and we have to call it a day!” In Two Rivers, after 162 years Suettinger’s Hardware shutdown! The family historian blames the shitty economy, which is significant because this business survived the Great Depression: “It got just to the point where it wasn’t feasible for us to continue in this situation.”-Holly Suettinger Engelland

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
