Anybody remember when pet food industry subsidized veterinarians insisted that giving your dog or cat table scraps was bad, bad, bad? If you go back far enough in time, to before the advent of industrialized pet food production you’ll see that ‘table scraps’ were the primary source of food for domesticated dogs and cats, after that they were expected to hunt down varmints if they were still hungry. Fast forward to today and now the exalted pet food industry is actually using what was once considered table scraps in their pet food, and charging you a lot of money for it!
In the United States, pet food makers have been allowed to market their food for doggies and catties as being good enough for people to eat, or at least the pet food contains ingredients considered good enough for people.
