U.S. led War on Syria: Russia threatens UN Veto, says the U.S. will sidestep the UN and use NATO to attack Syria

“We are afraid that the resolution could push the most radical Syrian opposition forces to more active operations to topple the government. Just because of that, we categorically do not accept the aims our Western colleagues try to attain with that resolution.”Vitali Churkin, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations

Russia, as well as China, have stated that they oppose any UN Security Council resolution against Syria.

Russian officials say they have information that the United States, and European Union, will sidestep the UN Security Council, because they can not get enough votes of support for their planned attack on Syria.  Instead it is highly likely that the U.S. and EU will use language under NATO rules to justify an attack on Syria.  The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is not part of the United Nations.

UN warns of return of Bird Flu, Vaccines not working

“Wild birds may introduce the virus, but people’s actions in poultry production and marketing spread it.”Juan Lubroth, UN Food and Agriculture Organization

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is warning of a new mutant strain of H5N1 (Bird Flu).  They say it’s spreading throughout southern China, and Vietnam.

Current vaccines do not work on this latest strain.

The UN is predicting the mutant H5N1 virus could spread to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Korean and Japan.  The last H5N1 outbreak peaked in 2006.

Arab League demands United Nations take action against Israel

“The United Nations has to take procedures to stop the Israeli offensive on Gaza.”-Nabil El-Araby, Arab League Secretary General

After an emergency meeting, the Arab league has condemned the Israeli attacks on Gaza, and demand action by the United Nations.

The Arab League also condemned “Israeli aggression against the Egyptian forces”.

More than a week ago Israeli officials admitted they were willing to go to war to stop the UN recognition of Palestine as a UN member.  Also, recently a former Israel defense official admitted that plans have been made to take the Sinai.

United Nations calls for action against Israel

The bureau calls for credible and decisive action to compel Israel to abide by its legal obligations and to protect Palestinian civilians under prolonged military occupation from the damaging effects of settlements and settlers.”-UN Bureau of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People

The UN Committee for Palestinians is upset over Israel’s planned illegal building of 5,200 settlement homes in Palestinian territory around al Quds (Jerusalem).

The committee said it violated existing UN resolutions, and guaranteed that there will be no peace.  The committee also called on the UN Security Council to take action against Israel: “The Security Council and the High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions bear a special responsibility in this regard.”

U.S., Europe pushing UN Security Council for resolution against Syria, BRICS opposed

“We believe that the time has come for the council to take further actions to step up the pressure against those who are responsible for the violence against the citizens of Syria.”-Philip Parham, U.K. representative to UN Security Council

The U.S., France, Germany and Portugal all backed up the British demand that the UN Security Council take action against Syria.

The problem is that all the most economically powerful countries are opposed.  Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa believe the government of Syria is correct when it says the insurgency was started by outside forces (meaning the U.S. and Europe).

Russia and China are permanent members of the UN Security Council.  India currently holds the presidency of the UN Security Council.

President Obama wants war with Syria, EU leaders want war with Syria, Canada wants war with Syria, it’s all about the oil baby!

“The future of Syria must be determined by its people, but President Bashar al-Assad is standing in their way.  We have consistently said that President Assad must lead a democratic transition or get out of the way.  He has not led.  For the sake of the Syrian people, the time has come for President Assad to step aside.”-President Barack Obama, written statement.

“Our three countries believe that President Assad, who is resorting to brutal military force against his own people and who is responsible for the situation, has lost all legitimacy and can no longer claim to lead the country.”-joint statement from British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel

“I join with (U.S.) President Obama and other members of the international community in calling on President Assad to vacate his position, relinquish power and step down immediately.”-Stephen Harper, Canadian Prime Minister

Syria is “…a proxy for Iran, a supporter of terror, and a threat to United States interests and our allies in the region.”-Eric Cantor, U.S. House Majority Leader

All these statements were made after President Assad announced an end to the crackdown on the insurgency.  He also invited the United Nations to investigate claims of human rights abuses, however, U.S. officials, and the U.S. media are reporting that some how the UN already conducted an investigation and found Assad guilty.  That was fast!

Major oil pipelines run through Syria, from Iraq and Iran to Turkey, Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea.  90% of the oil goes to Europe.  Remember, we’re attacking Libya, and the majority of Libyan oil goes to Europe, in fact almost all of Italy’s oil supplies come from Libya.

It’s really starting to look like Europe, with the help of the United States, is trying to save its sorry economic ass by taking direct control of their major suppliers of oil.

Syria declares end to crackdown on insurgents, will allow UN inspectors in

August 17, Syria’s President Assad told the United Nations that military operations against insurgents were a success, and are now complete.  I watched reports from the Middle East showing Syrian forces leaving several major cities, with the local population cheering them on.

In fact, the city of Deir ez-Zor suffered a brutal insurgency occupation that lasted several days: “These bandits blocked the roads, put up barricades – it became a ghost city. We were hiding at home, we were just like hostages.”- Hiba Deir Ezzor, resident

When the Syrian army showed up, the residents welcomed them as  liberators, not oppressors.

President Assad also told the UN that they could send inspectors in, to assess the humanitarian situation.

Iran, Libya & Zimbabwe slam United Kingdom, demand human rights investigation, says Cameron is no longer a legitimate ruler

“Cameron and his government have lost all legitimacy. These demonstrations show that the British people reject this government which is trying to impose itself through force.”-Khaled Kaaim, Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister

In a tit-for-tat statement Libyan officials are calling for British Prime Minister to step down, because the anti-government protests, which have recently turned into all out riots after a police shooting (and the little mentioned police beating of a 16 year old girl), prove that the current British government is oppressive.  Libya is even demanding that the United Nations take action against the U.K.

Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe said, in a round about way, that Britain needs to shut up and get off his back, when it comes to human rights violations: “Britain I understand is on fire, London especially and we hope they can extinguish their fire, pay attention to their internal problem and to that fire which is now blazing all over and leave us alone.”

Iran has already offered to send peacekeeping troops to the U.K., and human rights investigators as well.  One Iranian cleric said Britain is simply reaping what it’s sowed over the centuries: “The colonialists schemed and spent money to create chaos in countries and today the result of their plotting is the events they have been stricken with.”-Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi

A senior Iranian politician warned the United Nations that if it didn’t take action against Britain, as it has against Libya and Syria, then it would loose all legitimacy: “If the Security Council does not put David Cameron’s trial as a war criminal on its agenda and does not meet this demand of the British nation, [other] nations’ view of this council will definitely change more than ever before.”-Mohammad-Karim Abedi, Deputy Chairman of Iran’s Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee

Israel threatens War with Syria, if the UN recognizes a Palestinian state

The Israeli Defense Forces believe they will have to go to war with Syria, if the United Nations recognizes the Palestinian state in September.

The IDF believes that Syria will send thousands of Palestinian supporters to the Israel/Syria border.  The IDF says they will respond by shooting anyone who tries to come in from Syria, and they believe Syria will use that as an excuse to invade.

Instead of not shooting at any future demonstrators on the Israeli/Syria border, in order to avoid a war, Israeli military officials are using this “scenario” to justify drawing up plans to invade Syria!

The IDF also said that they are increasing training in civil disturbances, especially toughening mental attitudes “…because the cadets learn primarily how to fight an armed enemy, and dealing with civilians requires different measures.”

Also, Israeli officials will increase military presence on Israel’s borders, and in the West Bank and Gaza, if the UN officially recognizes a Palestinian state in September.

Britain Burning: Iran ready to send troops, calls U.K. leaders autocratic oppressors

“The Ashura brigades of Basij forces are ready to be deployed to London as peacekeeping forces.”- Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Naqdi

Since the beginning of the riots in England, Iran has been critical of the U.K. government’s handling of the crisis.

Iranian officials pointed out that London police have Big Brother style surveillance cameras all over the city.  At last count, there are 4.6 million security cameras, and only one million people living in London.  So why is it so difficult for them to track down the “thugs”?  Why, with all those security cameras on just about every street, didn’t police react sooner?

Iranian officials also point out that most of the “thugs” are the deprived lower classes of Britain.

Iranian military commanders say that if the United Nations decides to send peacekeepers to the U.K., Iranian troops are ready to go now.
