If you live in the United States did you miss ‘Antibiotic Awareness Week’? It was the week of November 18th. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claims that 2.8-million antimicrobial (antibiotic)-resistant infections occur each year in the United States, and more than 35-thousand people die because of antibiotic resistance. Part of the problem is that many people, including doctors, are not using antibiotics correctly: “Antibiotics are drugs that are specifically used to fight bacterial infections and do not work on viruses such as colds and flu.”-Lieutenant Commander Sara Robinson, Chair of Infection Prevention and Control at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

Canada: Officials report 20% spike in hospitalizations of children due to H3N2!

Chile: On 08DEC2022, two more pelicans died of H5N1, people being asked not to approach dead birds!

Peru: Somebody posted on Facebook that the eating of chickens has been banned due to H5N1, Peruvian officials say this is false because you can actually cook and eat birds that died from H5N1!

However, health officials are considering banning access to beaches due to the rising number of sick and dying birds!

United States:

Arizona, Maricopa County Department of Public Health reports more than 2-thousand-3-hundred Influenza cases, so far this season!

Utah, Intermountain Health Care reports huge spike in Flu cases for the first week of December!

Cameroon: Personnel with the U. S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and the U.S. CDC, traveled all the way to Cameroon on the west-central coast of Africa, to attend the fourth annual International Forum on Public Health Emergency Operations (November 9th-11th), and this year they were talking about “strengthening public health emergency management systems and surveillance” in the shadow of the CoViD-19 Pandemic. For some reason, the U.S. DTRA has been focusing on epidemiology training in Cameroon, since at least 2015: “Together, we build capabilities and create effective networks that enable reporting of biological threats.
