Arab media coverage of Nakba day pathetic!

I watched Nakba day (May 15) protests live on the internet, but live coverage wasn’t provided by Western media, which is no surprise.  What was surprising was the non existent live coverage by Arab media!

Nakba day started while most people in the United States were asleep, after all when it’s dark here it’s light on the other side of the world.  But I would’ve thought I could find live coverage on the internet, from Arab media.  No such thing.  In fact Arab media are just now updating their text stories about the unwarented violence perpetrated by the Israelis upon protesters (which I watched live).

So who covered the Nakba day? Iran!

10,000 Israeli Police bracing for Nakba protests

Israeli media reporting that 10,000 police are being used for the expected Nakba protests.  Officials say they will allow protests, but not violence.

But already Israeli military forces have committed violence by attacking a funeral precession, for a teenager that was killed by them a few days earlier.

The police units are being focused around Jerusalem (where the funeral was attacked), and northern Israel.  This is probably because Egypt and Jordan are blocking protesters from reaching the Israeli border, but Lebanon, to Israel’s north, has not indicated that they will do the same.

Leaked UN report says Iran & China violated UN sactions against North Korea. Is this the “smoking gun” the U.S. is looking for?

In a suppossedly “leaked” United Nations report, Iran is accused of dealing with North Korea, for nuclear missile technology.  That violates UN sanctions against North Korea.

The report also suggests the deals were made through a third party, possibly China.

The report infers that Iran is trying to get nuclear weapons technology as well. It points out that North Korea’s nuclear program is mainly for weapons. The report is to be submitted to the UN Security Council.

This is obviously going to be used by the U.S. as the “smoking gun” reason for taking military action against Iran.

The problem with the accusations is that North Korea has a lousy record of ballistic missile tests, while Iran has enjoyed success with its own missile program.  So it’s probably not a case of Iran trying to get missile technology, but North Korea.

The other problem is that it doesn’t make sense that Iran and North Korea were going through China to do the deals.  China has much better missile technology, so why not deal directly with China?  It’s possible that China did not want to share its missile technology.

Also, if Iran was trying to get nuclear weapons technology, again, why not deal with the more reliable Chinese?

The panel of “experts” who put together the UN report included a representative from China, who reportedly refused to sign the report.

Obama’s plan to increase oil drilling is not for bringing down gas prices, but to profit off high oil prices

Many U.S. media reports about President Obama’s push to increase U.S. oil production, blame it on the people’s demand for lower gas prices.

The problem with that argument is that world demand for oil products is so high that even if the U.S. can increase oil production, it will never be able to increase it enough to bring down prices.  That means the real reason for increasing U.S. oil production is to take advantage of high oil prices.

Is it possible that Obama is going back on his clean energy promise, because the United States is in so much debt, that he’s had to make a deal with the oil companies to give them access to oil rich areas, in exchange for bailing out the U.S. government?

Egyptian Army blocking access to Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian government still pro-Israel

Despite demands by the people of Egypt to be allowed to protest the Israeli occupation of Palestine, the Egyptian Army is blocking access to the Sinai Peninsula, in order to keep Egyptians from reaching the Israeli border at Gaza.

Some Egyptian politicians have stated that the Egyptian blockade against Gaza is being done to support Israel and the United States, and have asked for its end.  But the fact that the Egyptian Army is stopping people from protesting the blockade, and Israel, is proof the so called “new” Egyptian government is still being controlled by the U.S. and Israel.

Israelis back off suing Former U.S. President Carter

At the beginning of 2011 a lawsuit was filed against Jimmy Carter, by Israelis upset by the facts in his book “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid”.   They wanted $5 million in damages.

They claimed that Carter’s facts were false, but, according to some reports, as of May 5 they have dropped their claims.  I wounder if they realized Carter’s book is factual regarding Israel’s brutality towards Palestinians?

IMF boss arrested for sex crime, is it really because he was going to run against Sarkozy?

International Monetary Fund boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was arrested just after he boarded an Air France flight at John F. Kennedy airport.  He’s accused of assaulting a hotel maid.

Is it coincidence that Kahn was going to run against French President Sarkozy in next year’s French elections?  Sarkozy is the puppet of the Untied States, the Bush Jr administration helped him become President of France.

These charges also sound very similar to the charges brought against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Libyan rebel representatives at the White House asking for money

As if the United States and Europe aren’t doing enough for the Libyan Civil War.  Today, May 13, Libyan rebel reps are meeting with President Obama, to ask for more money.

Mahmoud Jebril, with the rebel’s National Transitional Council, is asking that Obama turn over the frozen assets of Gaddafi.  Jebril is a U.S. educated technocrat, who is helping to lead the rebel campaign against the Libyan government.

Jebril says that if the rebel Council doesn’t get more money soon, they will not be able to pay their mercenaries, I mean rebel troops.  The implication is that the so called rebel freedom fighters would walk away.

NATO says it will occupy Libya

“In a post-Gaddafi era, I think we will still have a role to play in assisting a new Libyan government in a transition to a sustainable democracy.”-Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO Secretary General

Rasmussen explained that NATO will focus on rebuilding Libya’s security and military units.

Basically what Rasmussen is saying is that U.S. led NATO plans on setting up shop in Libya, after they kill off Gaddafi.  What was that Obama said about this not being a long term adventure?

Another U.S. soldier killed by Afghan Cop

Another case of Afghan government forces shooting U.S. forces.  This time a National Police officer shot four U.S. soldier, killing one of them.  Very little details are available. The shooting happened in Lashkar Gah.  Witnesses say it was an all out scuffle.

This is not the first time Afghan government employees turned their guns on U.S. forces.  Last month a career military pilot killed several U.S. personnel, before being killed himself.

As for police forces, this is one of several incidents involving police officers; In April 2011, a total of 11 U.S. personnel were killed by Afghan police. In January 2011, a U.S. Marine killed a police officer. In November 2010, an Afghan border police officer killed six U.S./NATO troops.

Not only do U.S. forces have to deal with the Taliban’s spring offensive, but they have to watch their back for fear of Afghan government police attacking them.
