Harvey: Marines use Amphibious Combat Tanks to save lives!

Ever want to ride in one of those AmTracks (aka Assault Amphibious Vehicle or AAV)?  Some unlucky victims of Harvey, near Beaumont, Texas, got lucky and were rescued by Charlie Company, 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, 4th Marine Division, USMC Reserve.

At least 60 USMC personnel used ten ‘AmTracks’ to rescue more than 3-hundred people.

The large amphibious troop carriers were originally developed by the same company that brought you the smaller U.S. Army M113 Armored Personnel Carrier (Food Machine Corporation aka FMC).

The AAV-P7 (originally called the LVTP-7) was developed in the late 1960s, with the USMC first using it in 1972, but I don’t think the designers ever thought the AAV would be used to rescue silly-vilians.  In 1997 a program was approved to upgrade AAVs with the power-train and suspension from M2 Bradleys.

The upgraded AAVs can be identified by the support rollers on the track system, the earlier AAVs had what’s called unsupported track.

Has everybody forgotten when the left wing liberals hammered away year after year with their claim of Global Warming?  Well here’s another reason why they were wrong: Japan is seeing unusually low August temps, and it’s affecting their crops.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Tokyo is soaked with 16 days of rain, almost breaking the record set back in 1977.   The city of Sendai has been drenched by 26 days in a row of rain, since 22 July!   Also, for the eastern side of the main island of Honshu it’s has rained, somewhere, everyday so far this August.

Tourist and recreation areas, like beaches and public swimming pools, are reporting a lack of customers.  The Toshimaen amusement park reported a drop in visitors of about 30-thousand “despite it being the busiest Bon holiday period.”   August is normally the hottest time of the year for Honshu with the average temperature nearly 30 degrees celsius, but this August it’s been well below 30 degrees.

The cloudy rainy days has killed sunlight; Sendai so far has seen 12 hours of sunlight for the first two weeks of August, compare that to their normal 144 hours of sunlight for the same time period!

Lack of sunshine and cooler temps are causing produce to take longer to ripen, meaning supply is not keeping up with demand resulting in higher prices for food.

The Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market reporting that cucumber production in the Tohoku region is down by about 10% compared to the same time last year, while the prices have skyrocketed by 50%!

Tomato production in both Hokkaido and Tohoku prefectures have dropped by 30%, prices up by 5%.

Weather forecasters are predicting one more week of rain before the skies clear up.

The sky around eastern Idaho is socked in with smoke as the 2017-18 wildfire season roars up (I don’t think I’ve ever seen it so smokey around here, and I’ve been here 20 years).  The water bombing aircraft based at Pocatello Airport were busy during daylight; non-stop landings, reloading, take-offs, for hours on-end until dark.

The United States Air Force has inadvertently revealed the biggest threat to their taxpayer burdening billion and trillion dollar weapon systems; radical weather!

For the fourth year in a row Missouri Air-Militia personnel spent their annual training prepping for natural disasters.  Already this year Missouri National Guard personnel responded to record level floods, in May.

Climate Change? The Nose Knows!

For a long time biologists (and other scientists) have known that the shape of a animal’s nose depends on what type of climate it lives in, now more proof that your nose knows when the climate is about to change.

Pennsylvania State University published a study which concludes that you can’t blame the shape of your ugly snot-and-hair-filled nose totally on your parents, the climate affects its shape as well.

After looking at noses all over the world, using 3D scanning, researchers proved that people in cold-dry climates tend to have skinnier noses, and people in hot-humid climates tend to have fatter noses. Interestingly they say people in colder climates breed like rabbits: “People with narrower nostrils probably fared better and had more offspring than people with wider nostrils, in colder climates. This lead to a gradual decrease in nose width in populations living far away from the equator.”

The research into nose shape is considered important because the nose is the first line of defense for your respiratory system.

Oh, and by the way this is more proof that pollution is not the cause of climate change.

A new study (Deglacial temperature history of West Antarctica) shows a direct connection between magnetic pole activity and radical climate change on Earth, not human caused pollution.

The study shows that during the last radical climate change on Earth, back when supposedly there were no humans on-board, the Poles warmed up by as much as 11 degrees Celsius, while the rest of the planet warmed up by only 4 degrees. Interestingly this happened in the Southern Hemisphere “…several millennia earlier than in the Northern Hemisphere.”

Prior to the end of The Great Ice Age the planet was colder than it is now, and ever since the continent covering glaciers (some miles high) came crashing down the Earth has been slowly warming up, partly due to increased green-house gasses from geologic activity (like volcanoes), not by humans.  The interaction of the electromagnetic Poles with the weather for the rest of the planet is called “feedback processes”.

In fact the study shows Earth has never stopped warming up, yet another proof that ‘global warming’ is not caused by human activity!
