Too Big to Jail Bank of America announced more layoffs. This time 2-thousand 1-hundred evil bank minions will become unemployed! Bank officials blame it on declining demand for home loans. I wonder, why?
Blackberry announced more layoffs are in the works, as its sales continue to crash.
California: Six evil British empire owned Fresh & Easy grocery stores closed in Sacramento and Modesto. It’s connected to British empire Tesco’s sale of Fresh & Easy to evil Mitt Romney style vulture capitalist Yucaipa Companies.
Florida: In Bradenton, Jo-Ann Fabrics shut down. Local news media suspect the reason is stiff competition from Hobby Lobby.
Illinois: In Roselle, after 56 years in operation the Pik Kwik grocery store closed for good. The greedy property owner sold the building out from under the grocery store operators!
Indiana: For the first time in its 80 years history, Smithville Telephone Company laid off 45 employees. Officials blamed the economy and the federal government: “Significant consumer market changes and expected changes in federal regulatory issues have led Smithville to realize that it must strategically change before market dynamics force uncontrolled change.”-Darby McCarty, CEO
Iowa: Evil British empire Canadian based Aviva insurance company announced they will make at least 326 U.S. residents unemployed! It’s blamed on a buyout by evil Mitt Romney style vulture capitalist Apollo Global Management. Apollo is based in New York City, and is behind the demise of many U.S. businesses since the late 1990s.
Kentucky: The Midway College announced more layoffs are in the works. They’ve already laid of 16 people at the end of the Spring semester, and they stopped making contributions to employee retirement fund. It’s blamed on a 16% decline in student enrollment.
Maryland: In Baltimore, City Homes now bankrupt after getting hit with massive lawsuits over the use of illegal led (sic, lead) paint in their apartments. Apparently at least 300 apartment units were painted with paint containing toxic led.
Michigan: In Grand Rapids, Tree Huggers ‘green’ grocery store done in by bad economy: “The reality is that we’re just not doing as well as we need to in order to cover the costs of operating the business.”-Angela Topp, owner
Minnesota: In Duluth, Kemps closed down their milk factory. 38 jobs lost. It’s blamed on crashing sales.
Mississippi: Just one day after announcing bankruptcy, Missouri based Furniture Brands International confirmed that 1451 Mississippians are losing their jobs as a result!
Missouri: In Olivette, Yellow Pages laid off 73 employees. Yellow Pages already laid off 120 people in Georgia. It’s blamed on evil Mitt Romney style vulture capitalist Cerberus Capital Management.
New York: Swiss based Adecco Group shut down their temp/employment agency in Gates. 75 jobs lost. It’s blamed on declining demands for temp workers! In Hopewell Junction, International Business Machines (IBM) laid off 369 people!
North Carolina: In Asheboro, Randolph Hospital laid off 66 people. Hospital officials blame the state of North Carolina for effectively cutting Medicaid funding, as well as cuts caused by Obama Care. In Fletcher, Earth Fare organic grocery store shut down its distribution center. 25 jobs lost.
Pennsylvania: In Farmington the latest casino, Luck Lady, is not so lucky and is losing money and laid off 70 employees. Casino managers blame the bad economy.
Virginia: In Richmond, Too Big to Jail SunTrust Bank laid off 100 employees! Bank officials blame it on a crash in demand for home refi loans.
The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
