“The Government filed an application with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court seeking renewal of the authority to collect telephony metadata in bulk, and that the Court renewed that authority.”-James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence
The secretive Foreign Intelligence Service Court (FISC) has authorized the continued domestic phone data collection of the National Security Agency (NSA).
Isn’t it interesting that a court created to oversee ‘foreign’ spy operations is ruling on ‘domestic’ spy operations? Most U.S. citizens have never heard of FISC, even though the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 created the NAZIistic court.
Recently a contracted employee of the NSA revealed that the NSA ordered phone companies to provide all domestic phone call records to the government spy agency.
On 19 July 2013, NSA director James Clapper announced that the FISC has ordered Verizon to continue providing the NSA with all phone call records. (it’s assumed that other phone service providers have been issued the same order)
