“I hope the revelation of the bombers’ Chechen ties will, if anything, open a window of opportunity to repair U.S.-Russia security cooperation.”-Matthew Rojansky, Russia and Eurasia program at the Carnegie Endowment in Washington
Reuters reporting that U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, have held a phone conference discussing how they could increase joint anti-terrorism efforts. Obama credits the Boston Bombing event for bringing them together.
Reuters also reported that Russia tried to warn the U.S. about one of the Boston Bombings suspect back in 2011.
Will this new co-operation between Russia and the United States end the U.S. backed insurgency in Syria? After all the U.S. has been recruiting Chechens to fight the illegal war.
