Florida news media reports that a man was killed by vibrio vulnificus.  He was attacked by the bacteria on 14 June, while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico south of Pine Island.  He died two days later.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says there are now an average of 35 deaths per year due to vibrio vulnificus.
