British empire bank, Barclay’s, warned of massive global layoffs. Some reports say as many as 20-thousand people could lose their jobs, including employees in the United States!
California: In Los Angeles, corporate bankruptcy law firm now bankrupt busted themselves! After 60 years Stutman Treister & Glatt shutdown, 25 jobs lost. The law firm said it’s now far cheaper for corporations to get new loans, than to file for bankruptcy.
Connecticut: In New Hartford, Arizona based guitar maker Fender is shutting down their last U.S. acoustic guitar factory! After 47 years the Ovation factory will close in June, 46 jobs lost. Production is now focused in Asian countries: “It’s the end of an iconic American brand!”-Richard Hall, former employee
Illinois: In McHenry, Modine Manufacturing shutting down their factory, 135 full time jobs lost! Production being consolidated to other factories.
Indiana: MKM Distribution announced it will eliminate more than 80 jobs in June. It’s blamed on crashing revenues.
Iowa: In Maquoketa, after 44 years the Banowetz Antique Mall shutdown.
Kentucky: In Louisville, Jefferson County Public Schools officials blames disappointing student performance for why Myers Middle School (Junior High) must be closed. Students consistently rank in the bottom 1% for the whole state!
Maine: Going green is causing people to lose their jobs with Lincoln Paper and Tissue. The company is spending $7.8-million USD to become more energy efficient, but they can only do it by eliminating an undisclosed number of employees. Back in November a boiler explosion caused the paper company to layoff 200 employees!
Maryland: McCready Memorial Hospital began another round of layoffs. The number of jobs cut were not reported. Last year they killed dozens of healthcare jobs, and yes, it’s being blamed on Obama Care (Affordable Care Act).
Mississippi: Gulfport based Hancock Bank to shutdown 16 banks in Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida, despite profits. It’s connected to their merger with Whitney bank.
Montana: Stillwater Mining laid off 31 salaried employees, and they’re bribing 50 union workers to voluntarily quit. Last year employees revealed that company officials were shifting focus to Canada and Argentina.
Nevada: MetaPower International laid off 14 employees, including many executives. It’s blamed on crashing revenues.
New Jersey: In Bernardsville, after 68 years Diehl’s Jewelers shutdown: “It’s been a tough couple years. And it’s not just me.”-Kris Schmid, president
New York: South Colonie Central Schools jacking up property taxes and eliminating a dozen jobs. Upset parents don’t understand that Obama Care is jacking up insurance costs astronomically for schools. School officials are hoping the federal and state government will kick in some extra money to help pay for their financial rape.
North Carolina: North Carolina Central University eliminated 55 positions.
Ohio: Mansfield School Committee eliminated 149 positions and raised up front school fees for parents! It’s blamed on declining tax revenues and increased insurance costs caused by Obama Care. School officials say they are hopeful the federal government will kick in extra money for the next school year (yeah, keep dreaming). Who said tech jobs were recession proof? In Grove City, Dell computer’s contracted repair center, Pennsylvania based DecisionOne, laid off 23 employees. It’s blamed on crashing revenues. In Medina, Old Navy crappy clothing store shutdown. Local news media said Old Navy officials refused to say why.
Oregon: In Belmont, The Blue Monk music venue shutdown. It’s blamed on police harassment! In Eugene, after 36 years Fletcher’s for Children shutdown. The store owners blame the landlord for unreasonable rent.
Rhode Island: Providence based Textron killing 750 jobs at it’s Beechcraft and Cessna aircraft factories! 575 of those job cuts will hit Kansas!
Texas: In Dallas, Obama Care killed off the Emeritus at Vickery Towers nursing home, 120 jobs lost! Company officials said if it wasn’t for Obama Care they would’ve made needed upgrades to the nursing home.
West Virginia: Missouri based Patriot Coal killed 100 jobs! Patriot Coal joins the growing number of coal mining operations saying it’s not worth it to mine coal anymore.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
