Computer chip maker, Intel, announced it will kill 5-thousand jobs in 2014!
California: Allied Beverages shutdown operations across the Golden State, 422 jobs lost! In Milpitas, Lifescan laid off 49 employees. In Newport Beach, Mindspeed Technologies laid off 51 employees. In Reseda, Kroger owned Ralphs shutdown yet another grocery store, 55 jobs lost. In San Clemente, Southern CA Edison shutdown an office, 13 jobs lost. In Sylmar, Classic Cartage Trucking shutdown, 13 jobs lost. In Fountain Valley, Kingston Technology laid off five employees.
Colorado: In Boulder, CP&B ad agency laid off 65 employees.
Georgia: In Oakwood, after 28 years South Hall Paint & Decorating shutdown.
Illinois: In Moline, an IHOP restaurant shutdown due to the lease not being renewed.
Iowa: In Cherokee, Tyson Foods killed 60 jobs, blaming the bad economy.
Kentucky: TJMaxx shutdown another store, this time in Shively.
Louisiana: Underwear maker Fruit of the Loom laying off 150 employees at its Vidalia Apparel factory! The company is restructuring because of the bad economy.
Maine: The York School District killed nine jobs.
Maryland: What housing market recovery? In Washington County, Too Big to Jail Citi Group laying off 650 employees by the end of 2014! Citi is dumping approximately 64-thousand unpaid mortgages on other collections companies.
Nebraska: In Lincoln, the Red 9 bar shutdown.
New Jersey: In Logan Twonship, McKesson Medical-Surgical healthcare service laid off 140 people! Local news media could not get a reason why.
New York: In Owego, Asteelflash US East laid off 34 employees. In Orange County, Russin Lumber shutdown, 68 jobs lost. In Syracuse, Destiny USA – Pyramid Management Group shutdown, 44 jobs lost. In Holbrook, Waldbaum’s Store #286 shutdown, 71 jobs lost.
Ohio: In Amherst, Teltech laid off 192 Best Buy Geek Squad call center employees! It’s blamed on the bad economy.
Pennsylvania: The Armstrong County Health Center warned of more layoffs. At least 16 jobs were killed at the end of 2013. It’s blamed on the take over by Affinity Health Services.
South Carolina: What housing market recovery? In Fort Mills, Too Big to Jail Citi Group shutdown their default mortgage service unit, killing at least 400 jobs!
Virginia: In Galax, Kroger shutdown another grocery store, 53 jobs lost: “….the store has been losing money for years.”-Allison McGee, spokesman
West Virginia: Freedom Industries, the company that’s responsible for a chemical spill that left at least 300-thousand people without water is now bankrupt busted! It’s their way of getting out of paying for the damages they caused!

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
