Incomplete list of announced closings and layoffs.
California: In Fresno GAF laid off three people. Symantec laid off 160 people throughout the Golden State. In Pittsburg, United Spiral Pipe let go 89 employees. In Oxnard, Aerotek laid off 164 people! In San Diego, Bridgepoint Education laid off 47. Obama Care being blamed for 61 people becoming unemployed; Palomar Health and Mills-Peninsula Health made the cuts.
Kentucky: In Hawesville, Century Aluminum shut down, 750 people now unemployed!
New York: In Hicksville, Bunzi New York closed down, 30 jobs lost. In College Point, Time Warner Cable laid off 75 employees. In Middletown, the Acme Bus Company shut down, 164 employes on the street!
Wisconsin: In Beloit, Southeastern Container ceased operations. In Milwaukee, the Urban Day School laid off 40 people.
The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
